Second visit and still excellentWe love this place and have stayed on two occasions with plans to return. We are not perhaps your ideal guests as my husband and I are doing the South West Coastal Path in sections, so only ever need one night's accommodation, we bring a dog with us, and arrive looking a bit dishevelled, (albeit with decent attire in the rucksack) however yet we have received the warmest of welcomes at Orestone Manor. The staff are charming, helpful and attentive. We are now incorporating a stay here on our way to resume walking each time. We only book an attic room as we are not in the room for long, and whilst these are small rooms, they are very beautifully furnished and this time our room opened onto a roof patio with magnificent views of the sea. All rooms are equipped with bath robes and Molton Brown bathing products. There are nice touches such as fresh bottled water, fruit and homemade biscuits in each room. The hotel and gardens are beautiful and the food of an excellent standard. Although it was shoulder season on our last visit it seemed quiet for a Friday night and we hope that the recession isn't having an impact. We've stayed in many places in Dorset and Devon, paying as much if not more than the rate acquired through laterooms for Orestone Manor and can confidently say that this relatively very good value and genuine luxury. Please go there!

Lovely, quiet, country style hotel close to the sea and Torquay. Wonderful.Very peaceful hotel - the only sound was an owl outside the window. The window seat afforded a wonderful view of Lyme Bay. The welcome was exceptional and you have the feeling that nothing is too much trouble. The room was large with a lovely old-fashioned bathroom and the bed was very comfortable with flat screen tv, comfy chairs and welcome tray with fruit, water and sherry. Very nice, if slightly expensive restaurant but with good service and food so consider it worth the money. The bar staff, waiter and reception were exemplery in their customer service.Friendly, welcoming and peaceful with good food, great service and comfortable, large rooms. Try it!

Delightful hotel, location, and staffWe only had a one night stay at the Orestone, but can thoroughly recommend the experience. The staff were superb with very good attention to detail, and extremely courteous. One of few places still doing a 'turn down' service, and replacing all towels at that time. Location is terrific with beautiful views and a lovely garden for strolling. Only drawback is I prefer a shower and our room only had a bath.

The breakfast was outstanding (try the homemade museli) and so was the cream tea with homemade scones, views out to sea and the option of fresh milk in the room instead of horrid UHT. Lovely grand rooms and friendly staff.

The quality of the food was disappointing.

Staff could not be more helpful. Very child friendly, however having a room on the top floor when there is no lift makes carrying a child difficult. Food was a delighful surprise - wonderful. Great location. I will definitely come back here.
