The desk has excellent lighting and the two phones in the room have two lines with voicemail; one phone is cordless. Safety and convenience for guests includes safes in all closets, a minibar refrigerator with a separate dry snack tray, iron and ironing board in the closet, and a coffee maker. Well-lighted, spacious baths feature Aveda bath products, hair dryers, and Spa robes. Effective August 1st, 2008, the daily parking fee is $40.00 plus tax. Location Description:
Situated in the world's favorite travel destination...a city that sets high standards for stylish accommodations and elegant dining, The Orchard Hotel is up to the challenge. The Orchard is just steps from the Powell Street cable car line, two blocks from the shopping mecca of Union Square and mid way up Nob Hill...in the midst of the pulse of San Francisco. Take 101 north all the way into downtown San Francisco. As you enter downtown, stay in left lanes on 101 north, towards Golden Gate Bridge. Take the 9th Street exit, which exits right onto 9th Street. Stay in center or right lanes as you pass over Market Street. 9th becomes Larkin Street. Go up 11 blocks to Bush Street, make a right, go six blocks and cross Powell Street. We are the second building on the right side.
Dining:
Renowned Daffodil Restaurant and Bar is a gathering spot for the neighborhood, hotel guests, and those seeking one of the finest dining experiences in San Francisco.

This place was perfect!!! Great location...we walked everywhere, but the hotel is close to bus routes and one of the cable car routes. Look forward to returning soon!!!

Rooms were bigger than I expected - unlike the Clift where I stayed last in San Francisco. A bit of an uphill walk from Union Square! This hotel was a great. Its rooms and the common areas were attractive and clean. Its staff was very helpful and friendly.

Good location and close to Union Square and many shopping centers. Nice service with helpful information. Would recommend this hotel to those traveller to SF.

Just a half block away from the cable car and a block and a half to China Town. Lots of restaurants near by. We felt safe walking and took advantage of the Muni passes. The room was large and very nice. It was extremely quiet. The staff were friendly and very attentive to our needs. There is a wonderful little "Cable Car Cafe" around the corner with very reasonable and large servings. Would recommend this to friends.

This was an anniversary trip for my husband and I and we could not have been happier about the hotel: great location, beautiful, clean room, very, very quiet (we were on the top floor). Staff was friendly and accommodating. A jump on the cable car right on the corner took us to great sites, but we did a lot of walking from the hotel also. It was exactly what we were looking for for this particular trip.

Stayed 5 nites in Jan 2009 at the Orchard. I have stayed in SF CA before, many times, but this was a great trip. The Orchard is so easy to travel about town. The Hotel is on a cable car line, a short 3 blk walk to entrance to Chinatown, a longer 6 blks to the Market/Powell transportation hub (cable car, street car, BART and bus) Union Square shopping/retail. The Sir Francis Drake hotel, with the Scalla bistro run by someone on Food Network Chef challenge. Great frites. 2 blks from Sears Fine Foods, check out the French toast or the Swiss Pancakes. Great "French" cafe, LePresse a short 3 blks away down Bush. Short, 10 blk walk to North Beach with great Italian food, Calzones, and the Stella Bakery, Room was wonderful, quiet, clean, big bathroom, fantastic bed. I have slept on the Westin Heavenly bed, this bed was better. Did I say QUIET room wow. Some cable car noise, but not much. A smaller room, but certainly bigger than NYC Hotels. Plenty of room for the 2 of us. Had a great time visiting MOMA, the deYoung museum in Golden Gate Park, Fisherman Wharf, North Beach, Pier 39, the Ferry building, Ghiradelli Square, the Chieftain Bar, Coit tower and finally NOPA a restuarant on Divisadero. Wonderful Pork Chop. Staff was great. We arrived on a Wednesday nite, with Bob the doorman taking our luggage and giving us a great dining tip to the Beldin Alley with Tiuramasu's Cafe. The front desk got us a copy of SF Guardian, and the other SF weekly that lists events Wed to Tues. Laptop at the front desk allows you to ditch your Laptop and just check emails via theirs. Finally check out the Cioppino at theTadish Grill . Jeff

We arrived in San Francisco early. We did not expect the room to be ready upon our arrival at 11 AM but we were quite surprised that it was. The room was clean and neat. Free Wi-Fi . Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definately stay here again.

We came to S.F. for the 4th of July. The city was crowded. The Orchard Hotel was in a good location right near the Cable Car stop. The room was very clean. The decor was very pleasant. Overall, we had a good time in San Francisco.

Price, location and room size. No view. Nice clean and friendly hotel. Great location for shopping and catching cable car. Would of preferred a room with a view, but for the price it was worth it. Dinner was excellent, not a place for big eaters because the portion size was on the small side, but great atmosphere and fantastic taste. Parking is reasonable if you drive a block further and park at the Stockton garage. Room size was perfect and my wife loved the bathroom with all the Aveda products.

Our first time to San Francisco. This hotel in an excellent location (but if you have trouble walking uphill you will find a reasonable climb up the road). We were there in the high season and paid top dollar. The hotel & staff were great. Would stay there again.

Was close to Union Square and was very nicely and stylishly furnished. Staff were courteous and always very helpful. It was an exceptional value for the price; we would definitely stay there again.

It's right in the heart of the shopping area but surprisingly quiet. It's very convenient to get on any kind of public transportation, especially cable car. The room is spacious and clean. There is only one computer there for travelers to use. It would be nice if they provide more computers. I enjoyed my staying.

Location, price. Bed was too firm and staff did not go beyond the call of duty. The location and price are this hotel's best assets. I would recommend eating elsewhere including breakfast. Staff was nice but did not go out of their way to be helpful. Rooms could use an update on TV's and mattresses.

The Orchard Hotel San Francisco was a pleasure to stay in. The staff were all extremely helpful, the facilities at the hotel were fantastic (the bed and pillows were very comfortable) and the hotel was in an excellent location - close to China Town and not far from public transport. The Business Centre provided free internet access which was a real bonus as we had other arrangements we needed to make for our travels. It is good to see the energy saving initiatives finally coming to the USA - it is very common in Australia.

After looking at several hotels in San Francisco, my wife and I booked the Orchard Hotel based on the many positive reviews it received on Travel online and elsewhere. The hotel is located just 2 blocks away from Union Square and a few steps away for the cable car line. For the most part, the hotel is in a great, central location. The only bad part about the location is that it seems like it is on the top of a hill so you are always walking uphill from all directions to get to it. Checking in was quick and easy. We were told that free breakfast was not included in the rate we booked which was a little disappointing. But we booked with a pretty low rate so it doesn't surprise me. The room was about average size, although much larger than the type of room you would get in cities like New York. The room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. The hotel also provides free WI-FI Internet access, which was a plus. I did notice that the A/C didn't seem to work very well. Overall, considering the location, the price, and the quality, I'd say it is a good place to stay.
