Although the hotel is visually appealing, the staff members who supposedly "helped" us throughout the course of our stay were absolutely horrible. The front desk was rude, unfriendly, unwelcoming, and unsympathetic to our needs. We had booked a Superior Quite because we were told that the Studio Suites were fully booked. Upon settling into the room, we discovered that we were indeed in a Studio Suite, even though we had paid a significantly larger amount for a different room. We phoned the front desk and were told they were "busy" and would call us back. After 20mins of waiting, I called the front desk and upon explaining the situation, the man at the desk interrupted me, mid-sentence, and said, "Wait, is this room 4304 calling?" and when I said yes, he immediately put me on hold and I was disconnected shortly after. The front desk never phoned back, and when we went down to the front desk ourselves to see what was going on, the staff told us that we were wrong, that we "got what we paid for" and that there was nothing they could do. (No sense of understanding, no apology, NOTHING.) I've stayed in a Superior Suite before and the room we were in looked nothing like it. I feel as though the hotel simply took our money and took advantage, and on top of that, did not, by any means, make us feel comfortable or welcome to return.

This was a beautiful hotel, in a great location and was very vibrant with lots of people staying there. There is a bar and a restaurant in the lobby and a great atmosphere. One negative is that every little thing cost us extra. The parking was $30, Internet was $9.95, they had a washer and dryer in the room (which was great) but you had to pay extra for soap. Even though we paid through Orbitz, they charged the full rate to our credit card, then refunded the difference afterward (without asking). The towels were kind of tattered and the bathroom was the tiniest I have seen. The room was great and very efficient, but very small. The bathroom was not very private. I thought to myself, I would not want to be on a romantic weekend in this hotel unless I was really comfortable with the person I was with. Because it is so small and the bathroom was a foot from the bed and just had a sliding pocket door. I was there with my daughter, so it was okay for us. The kitchenette was great though. It had a dishwasher, washer, dryer, fridge & microwave.

For business in the financial district, the location of the Suites at One King West couldn't be better. Everything's within a 5 minute walk, and the subway entrance is just out the front door. The hotel is connected to the underground PATH walkway system, and all the major banks' HQ are just steps away. I've stayed here many times before: you get a kitchenette unit, comfortable bed, good desk, and OK bathroom (not the Park Hyatt or Four Seasons, but not Motel Six either). They've recently upgraded amenities. This time, though, I had a room that looked into a dark atrium -- not the best room in the hotel but for all I was there, it was fine, and the price was right. Other rooms have great views, very high up, and the windows open, desks in the window nooks overlooking the lake.

This hotel has a nice location central to Union Station/ underground walkway and the subway station. The rooms are really nice with a view of the city and the water. What I liked the best was all the amenities in the room a microwave/ sink/ dishwasher/ washer / dryer The room was nicely decorated and really you cd not ask for a nicer room for the price

The rooms really are suites! Large, with a complete kitchen and a washer and dryer. Being able to do your own laundry is a real convenience when you've been on the road a while

I booked a room in The Suites At 1 King West for a night (May, 3 2008) so that I could fly into Toronto and not have to drive a great distance to get to my final destination. The person at the front desk was very pleasant as she denied my request to be in the new tower on a floor that would give me a nice view of the city. I didn?t think that would be an issue given what appeared to be a great number of vacant rooms available judging by the lack of people in the lobby and bar area. Instead, after she verified that I had booked my reservation through the travel website, I was given a room in the "Historic Section" of the building on the tenth floor. The "Historic" part of the building was built around 1906 and was good for the times. Even after several upgrades, it still isn't desirable by today?s standards, even at one quarter of the cost. The windows are single pane, uninsulated, wooden windows that should have been replaced years ago. Due to the windows and the proximity of the room to the street below, the noise from the traffic was enough to keep me from getting a well deserved night's sleep. I have read several other reviews and noticed a disturbing trend.... those that stay in the new tower seem to enjoy their rooms, while those that are relegated to the "Historic" part of the building are not at all happy with their rooms. I hope that the managers of The Suites At 1 King West will read this review perhaps change their policy on placing guests in the "Historic" section of the building. My guess is that "one-nighters" that book through a third-party will be very unhappy!

The set up of the tv & furniture arrangements should have been better to allow watching tv more comfortable without straining your neck & head. We cannot order room service because there was no room to allow us to eat comfortably. This room is only good for 1 person. The bathroom sink is too small that we knock our elbows in the wall or something when washing our face. The sink area is too small to put items. The shower head is too high to adjust when someone is only 5'2. There is no bath tub, no rubber mat in the shower & no handle to grab on when you fall while showering & tile floor is slippery. The disturbing noise on the street can still be heard on the 8th floor room.

This is a nice Toronto suites hotel located at Young and King which is close to most major Toronto attractions. This hotel is not ceap. A decent room will cost in the * to * range. Internet service is not included nor is parking. Valet service is mandatory if parking your vehicle and the rate is an extra * per day. There is an extra fee again for Internet and North American phone calls. Hotel does not have a standard pool. The have a small reistance pool but it has been closed down for some time. They have a wirl pool that is open. The hotel offers a fitness centre on the 17th floor that is adequate and features two eliptical trainers, a couple of exercise bikes and three treadmills as well as some free weights. There are male and female saunas available in the gym area as well as shower facilities. The gym tends to be full during the morning hours. The food at this hotel is average yet expensive for what you get. You will be much better off eating out. The general area around the hotel is packed with excellend restaurants. There is not access to the parking garage. If your car is parked, you must call the valet service to get your car for you while you wait. Expect an average 10 minute wait for your car. Rooms are generally clean and quiet. Expect long elevator waits. Valet staff are good and so is the front desk staff. Houekeep staff are luck-of-the-draw. I left a note asking to be left an extra face cloth. When I returned to my room there was a note from the housekeeper telling me "no" becuase they do not have a sufficient supply. How funny is that!? This is suppose to be an upscale hotel.

We enjoyed our week at this hotel. We loved being at the location in the financial district. The subway stop right outside the door was ideal and getting to and from the airport with the 192 rocket and subway from the Kipling stop worked so very well. It is amazing to have a washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator all in the room, too.

This hotel is in an excellent location-close to everything. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. They have a classic car service that takes you where you need to go--it was great. We went to ""We Will Rock You."" It was excellent! I highly recommend it. The theatre is only a few blocks from the hotel. Lots of available shopping, but Toronto prices are high! I would definitely stay here again. They upgraded our suite-we had a spectacular view on the 27th floor.

Nice hotel, reasonable price. Pool was out of service. Very conveniently located. Standard suites are small, so consider upgrade to larger suite, esp if 2 unrelated travellers share.

The location lends itself more to business than pleasure. Walking North to the Eaton Centre becomes tedious after a few visits, otherwise we were quite happy.

While the The Suites at 1 King West is not super high end, it is very clean, comfortable and conveniently located. I keep coming back for these reasons and because of its friendly staff members who are always very welcoming. I also like having an in-room washer and dryer...just in case.

Every employee we dealt with screwed up. At check-in (4:30PM) room was not ready, clerk said to sit with no estimate of how long and she'd get us when ready, wnet back up after 1/2 hour and magically room was ready though she never came to tell us. Room had only towels for two though the reservation was for 3. Next day room was never cleaned. Maid had started, told my son she'd be back and never reappeared. When I called they sent someone up with towels and toiletries. Parking attendant failed to give us a receipt for the car. When went to use car the next day they were baffled as to why it wasn't in the system.Bill was slipped under door night before checkout. When checking out they advised that bill was wrong, and charged a different amount. Room was nice, location great but staff the worst.

In the dead center of downtown Toronto, this hotel offers clean, modern rooms while being anchored in an old classic hotel from the city's early beginnings. The room had a fantastic view of the sunrise, and all sorts of amenities were available in this suite, which seemed to cater to long-stay businessmen and women. I look forward to staying at this hotel the next time I am in Toronto.

This is a fantastic alternative for those having business in downtown Toronto. The room was fantastic: larger fridge, kitchenet and dishwasher!! Lacking two things for perfection: wireless internet access and more channels on TV unless you want to practice your Canadian

Great location in downtown Toronto, literally walking distance to everything in business and entertainment districts. The suite we stayed in was very spacious and well designed with comfortable bed. The hotel is reasonably priced.
