I did a lot of research before my husband and I travelled to Austin for a four day vacation. We settled on the Omni dowtown, and were very impressed with this first class hotel. I took the advice of a previous reviewer and signed up for as a Preferred Guest (free), and this entitled us to free internet access in the room (muc appreciated), as well as free drinks in the morning delivered to our room (Starbuck's coffee was terrific). They even warmed the milk that came with the coffee, a very nice touch. Our room was located close to the elevator at my request, but I would advise that there can be some noise associated with party goers returning from a night on 6th St. We had to complain after being woken up by some rowdy folks at about 2:45. After this incident, however, the hotel was very quick to ensure that our floor was quiet, even posting security at the elevator "just in case". The hotel staff was very helpful, with lots of good advice on where to eat and where to visit. The bathroom was beautiful, with granite counters and a great shower! Our only real complaint would have to be the difficult parking garage (spots are very narrow and there are alot of trucks), and it is quite expensive at $18 plus tax for self-parking. You can park around the corner for $5. We didn't realize that when we checked in. A great hotel, great staff, great location, 5 stars for sure.

Excellent & professional staff from the valet, to check in to the firt shop personnel. Everyone was accomodating. One block from Austin's famous 6th Street - excelent historic restaurants & things to see & do.

This hotel is in a prime downtown location. A walk away from the capitol, the university, and all of the downtown bars and clubs, as well as the Warehouse district. The staff service was excellent! I was however dissatisfied with the fact that there was no type of radio in the rooms (ie.. clock radio, etc.). Overall, the stay was wonderful and I would definitely stay at the Omni hotel in the future.

there are two things that are good about this place....the beds are very comfortable and the location in excellent, but who ever put in the rugs in the rooms did not know how to measure accurately, because it was missing about half an inch on the sides. the pool was too small and you if you wanted something to drink at the pool side, you had to pay for it in cash, because you could not charge it to the room.

I will never stay at the Omni Austin Downtown again. When we arrived to check in there was a wedding party in progress in one of the rooms off of the lobby. Little did I know that over 9 hours later the wedding guests would be allowed to run amok throughout the hotel and lobby screaming until 2AM. Despite several calls to the front desk and manager nothing was done. There were at least 30-40 people gathered together screaming and yelling and the management refused to do anything about it. I am sure it had something to do with the fact that they had spent a lot of money at the hotel, whereas other guests would have been thrown out, arrested, or at least asked politely to be quiet. The entire hotel staff refused to say one word to them, maybe they were scared. This nonsense went on until at least 2AM and woke up plenty of people in the hotel, but apparently the ordinary guests aren't as valued as those who can shell out the extra cash. Terrible experience and in my opinion someone should have lost their job over it.

I was in Austin for business and the Super regional baseball games. The hotel was a great location for both. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The food was great and there were many restaurants within walking distance. The bigest perk is that you are only a block from 6th street. Tons of clubs and bars to go to and listen to great music and meet new people. Stay at the omni. You will be a happy camper.

The hotel came with high reviews, so my expectations were high as well. The room was surprisingly outdated, especially the decor of the bathroom. It was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, but I was awaken from 2am to 5am several times from screaming/music/cars honking/alarms because of the room's proximity to 6th street. It was great to be close to go out and not worry about parking, but the noise would be a drawback. I was also surprised to pay an extra $15 a night to park my own car. They have a very professional and courteous staff, and we did have a good overall experience.

It was nice except that they did not honor the king size bed that was in the reservation. They said that it was not a resevation, only a request by the 3rd party (Orbitz). The room was on the street side (7th floor)and noisy late at night when people leaving the downtown bars and clubs. Other than that it was very nice. Great breakfast buffet. Pool was very crowded due to weddings.

We were in town for a wedding, so didn't spend too much time at the hotel. The rooftop pool was wonderful, along with the bar in the hotel. All of the staff was extremely friendly.

The Omni is at a fantastic location for those who want to check out 6th street and the Congress St. bridge bat colony! Our room was small, but quaint and I was not impressed with the TV, but the balcony was well worth not having as nice of equipment. The view from the roof top swimming pool (which was okay) was also great. The service was polite as expected.
