The hotel does not have an elevator on the ground level. It was a difficult climb for my father to the second floor reception. There is a small elevator from the 2nd floor reception to the upper floors. The breakfast room overlooks the castle and Princess street, with many windows and serves a huge breakfast buffet. Very pleasant.

Overnight in EdinburghWanted central location near station and RSA as in Ediburgh to meet friend and go to exhibition plus relax and catch up with news over a drink and light meal in bar in evening.The OLd Waverley was idel for this. All staff were helpful, especially in reception about keeping bags both before checking in and after checking out.

Apart from the long climb up stairs to reception with luggage, the welcome from reception (from a Hungarian Lass!) made up for the oncoming physical heart attack. The room allocated was typically British, in that it was of the least space possible to comply with a hotel room without having any space! The facilities were good, and the hotel was in the centre of the city. The breakfast supplied was more than satisfactory, and staff were courteous, apart from the fact that I couldn't pay cash (a credit card was the only acceptable 'legal tender')for a "nightcap" at the bar. Location, cleanliness and breaky were a good plus.

Room 204 !204 doesn't even appear on the room direction panel.This starts with 205 which indicates to me I stayed in a converted service area. I was stonewalled at Reception when I complained.

Hotel in good location, within 5 min. walk from station and easy to walk to all touristy attractions. Plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby as well as many shops. Clean with reasonable sized room and bathroom. Staff friendly. Only downside a little noisy as room was on 1st floor level nr a level crossing.

barely adequate room with no natural light or fresh air. the lobby and reception area were good and the customer service was satisfactory. As I entered the room my first impression were that it was clean but extremely small. There was a small window which gave a view of a vile generator and brick wall. The windows did not allow any air through and when open the noise from the generator was awful. Even when the windows were close the noise could still be heard. As we explored the room further we discovered the standard of furnish was poor, the bed sheets cheap and harsh and some electircal appliances did not work (the iron). I feel that the price of the room is extortionate and poor value for money.

only Bad bit..The only thing I found not so good about this hotel was that there were 2 flights of stairs to climb before you reached reception, then another couple of stairs to get your bags up at the lift. They should probably specify this, as I was travelling with an older relative who found the stairs quite difficult.

Convenient location for all sites in city . Accommodation very good. Struggle to get in very small lift (as we were on top floor) with suitcases if anyone else was using it .

Could not be beaten on location. Room was small but adequate. Toiletries provided are not good quality. Bed small and not very comfortable. Breakfast O.K. and all areas clean. Staff friendly and helpful

grad parentsThe room was on the small side but had everthing we needed and we got it at a good price! The bed was comfy and the TV good quality, it was very clean though slightly mean on the number of towells! Breakfast was good (including the service). The only drawback with the Princess Street view is that there are extensive roadworks in Princess street at present and ther was early morning roadwork noise - so forget sleeping late during the week!

Depending on the room......this hotel can be very nice or so-so. If your room looks over the street, it's a pleasant view, and is definitely worth staying at. However, if you're stuck in a fire-exit room, it can feel a bit stuffy and clostrophobic, as the rooms are rather small.
