The hotel was of reasonable quality, the menu was limited and the food was average. the room was quite small but it was fine for one night. the bar area was very quiet and only having one member of staff for the entire front end of the hotel (bar, waitress and reception) meant service was slow although not unbearable.

I believe that the hotel was in the middle of a renovation, although the activities in the renovation did not affect my stay, the hotel is a little jaded, the staff are friendly but not very efficient, the room was clean but the bins were not emptied after the first day and the drinks were not topped up.All in all I was reasonably happy, although I would not recommend this hotel to a friend, as I felt the staff let the hotel down.

Faulty Towers?!We arrived to be told that there was a wedding on so there would be no dinner available. The room was cold and we had to ask for a heater. We were told that the heating should have come on. It never came on the whole weekend! The bathroom bin was full of the previous occupants rubbish. A wedding party had taken over the hotel so the restaurant was closed and we had to endure the partying well into the night. The floorboards above our room squeaked everytime anyone moved which was well into the early hours of the morning! The breakfast was stone cold. The room was not serviced and I don't believe this was by accident as once the wedding party had vacated their rooms, none of theirs were cleaned till the day we left as I discovered when I had to use another room as the hairdryer in our room did not work = the other room was full of tables and dirty crockery. They just didn't bother to get the staff in. There were multiple holes in the pillowcase - moths maybe? We were the only guests on the Monday morning and no tables were set for breakfast which is probably just as well as we didn't want cold eggs and bacon again!! As we were leaving, I assume it was the Manager, passed by and said he hoped we had enjoyed our stay. By that time we were so fed up we just grimaced and said nothing though our expression must have said it all but he did not pursue it which just about sums it up = they don't care..........

A little wary having seen previous reviews but decided to try it, and so glad I did. Could not really fault it for the £40 b&b rate. Restaurant a bit pricey but bar meal was very good. Would definitely stop again.

Lovely quiet location with comfortable room and friendly staff. Great menu for dinner at about £18 for 2 courses, but didn't eat in so can't tell you if it tasted as wonderful as it looked. Reasonable breakfast, but this was quite dear at £9.50 extra. But still good value for the £55.50 B&B cost together.

I found my stay pleasant enough but the noise at night was hurrendous...there was a constant engine sound and my windows did not shut properly and the radiator in the bedroom would not turn on.
