The staff was great. The room was small but comfortable. We had an outside balcony that we sat on each night and looked out over the Parthanon. It was lit-up and was beautiful. I considered this a 'boutique' hotel and didn't mind the European method of leaving the key behind when we left each day. Also, we did not mind that there was no power to our fridge when we were out as the key, placed into its holder, triggered the room power. However, what was most disconcerting was the area that the hotel was in. Though it was within 7 minutes of the subway (which is the only way to travel while in Athens), the neighbourhood was very seedy and had high crime. There were groups of young men hanging-out on sidewalks and not letting pedestrians get by unless they went out onto the road. The hotel warned us to be careful when out on the street at night and to stay to the better lit main roads. The Police were a very evident presence though and twice the 'riot squad' cleared the congested area. Having said all that, I would most definitely stay there again as long as I again got a 7th floor room facing the Parthanon.

The Odeon staff was very friendly and helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with young children. It was definitely not the 'touristy' section of town, more like the real working Athens. Any one, like me, used to living or traveling in big cities will have no concerns with the location. I was a solo female traveler and never felt uneasy. The Metro is only a few blocks away (5-10 minute walk) and it was very easy to get to the Acropolis, Plaka and Monastiraki areas. I enjoyed my stay and thought the value for the price was excellent! I had plenty of money leftover to splurge on food and gifts.

The Odeon is located a stone's throw from the Psiri and Plaka districts, the Keramikos, Ancient Agora sites, and a short walk to the Acropolis. It is only a few blocks from the Omonia Metro Station which allows easy and quick access to any of the museums and other archaeological sites in Athens. As for the room, it was clean but not very comfortable, being crowded with three single beds, no refrigerator and a small shower with a hand held shower head that did not fit the bracket on the wall. Breakfast was the same very basic fare. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood to the west gets a bit seedy, but nearby to the east are many of the sites you probably came to Athens to see.

It is located about 5 blocks from the omonia metro station (green line) and is next door to the police station. I did not feel comfortable by myself. The hotel itself is fine. The breakfast offered dinner rolls with meat and cheese, and cereal with something that I think was powdered milk. I have stayed in Syntagma square before and loved its close proximity to everywhere I needed to travel to, but this hotel is not in this neighborhood, or even close to it. I felt very safe in Plaka and syntagma square, but unfortunately not in this neighborhood. If you want to take the metro and are not comfortable.

The Odeon Hotel in Athens was comfortable and pleasant. The rooms were clean and neat. The staff was helpful, obliging and spoke English very well. The hotel, in general, was pretty and was a great value-especially for one night. The only downfalls: The breakfast, which was included in the price, was meager and quite chintzy-e.g Tang instead of orange juice. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant stay. I would only recommend it to a friend if they couldn't afford a better location.
