Date of Stay:
July, 2009
It has a great seaside location. Unfortunately, it feels like a motel on the side of the road that one stops at on an overnight trip.
Date of Stay:
September, 2006
The only good thing about this hotel was the location by the ocean. Dirty rooms, bathrooms, and linens/ towels, inhospitable staff. This hotel was not clean upon arrival- towels were dirty and stained, there was mold on the shower curtain and hair in the shower drain and toilet, and the room was in general not clean or sanitary. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the hotel. Basic amenities were not provided as promised (i.e., hair dryer). The staff were rude, inhospitable, and very unhelpful.

locatoin and view are great, room service was terrible i had to chase down towels and coffee everyday, front desk never had any, they always had to try and find someone in housekeeping. Not sure where renovations were done as we were there 2 yrs ago place still looks the same as it did then

The fact that I got a room with an "ocean view." Room was dirty; front desk clerks were impolite. I would never pay this kind of rate for this hotel - not again. Live and learn.

Here's the deal: Jekyll Island, in general, is very boring. There's not much to do on the island. Most businesses close at 6pm. There is very little night life. You pay each time you come on and off the island. Oceanside Inn was fine for what we paid. Our Front Desk Agent, [...], upgraded our room (she also explained EVERYTHING to us about the hotel which was very helpful) . We were very grateful for the upgrade. I saw the room we were supposed to get, and I would have been disappointed (double oceanside). However, if you are traveling w/ children, this is your only choice. The surrounding hotels are in similar condition. This is one of the few hotels oceanfront on the island (hence the price) and w/ an on-site bar/diner. AVOID THE BREAKFAST BAR-I walked out. But, lunch was great. They also have a daily happy hour. Bring plenty of food from the grocery store-all rooms have a refrigerator and kitchen sink. It rained the whole time we were there, so the pool or hot tub did not get used. They are oceanfront, though, and looked nice. If I had to return, I would stay there. Unless I wanted to stay on the river, where Jekyll Island Hotel & Club are located. Make sure you book w/ AAA or AARP, the savings are worth it. When you check for reservations online, go to the bottom of the screen and click on PROMOTIONS. It will display the discounted rates. I think this hotel has had some bad reviews because most patrons feel they overpaid for what they got. I can understand that if they received no discount. However, my experience was great and very relaxing.

Great location on the beach with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, oven and stove. A little on the old side but will be renovated at end of year.

I took my sister and brother-in-law to Jekyll to celebrate their 60th anniversary and their room had no coffee, no hair dryer, no telephone, no towels and the room was filthy. My brother-in-law is blind and a phone is always a necessity. Since we had adjoining rooms, I was able to attach a long cord and move my phone to their room. The female clerk that checked me in was very friendly and helpful but the male clerk that checked me out was rude and not even a "Thanks for staying with us". We have stayed there many, many, many times in the past, but this visit was by far the worst and absolute last time that I or any of my family will stay at Oceanside. Not sure where all the renovations took place, but definitely not where it was needed.

Location, hot tub, MIRRORS. Dirty breezeways pool was filthy. Hotel was great! Will be going back soon.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I would not recommend to my cat. One part had been renovated but it was evident that our room had had nothing done to it since the dark ages. We had no phone the whole time we were there and the AC broke the second day and we had to fight to get a new room. People we extremely rude.

Beach access, very comfortable beds. Noisy, older, bathroom fixtures broken, needs repairs. For the price, I thought this was too expensive. Room was on street side, far away from pool. Carpet old and worn. Bathroom tile looked very dirty. Shower missing fixtures. Pool in major need of repair. Hot tub looked disgusting --- with ocean water and sand??? Pool was nice, but needs to be heated. Location is wonderful with ample beach access. Staff was not very friendly.

Very good value for the money, based on the other hotels in the area. Great location, clean beachfront room. Very peaceful and relaxing. This is the 2nd time i've stayed here and would book again.

It was right on the beach and the location was great. The rooms were so dirty . When we checked into the hotel we had to sign a waver right away that said we would be charged for the entire time if we decided to leave early. The first room we received was a smoking room. I went back and asked if we could get a non-smoking room. A small petite dark haired woman was extremely nice and offered us a non smoking room down on the bottom floor. The first woman who helped us made a comment to her that we were Internet people.(Is this a bad thing?) As soon as we walked into what was supposed to be a mini efficiency, we knew why we had to sign the waver. The room shown on the site is NOT the room you get. The rooms were old and dirty. The efficiency part was a joke. There was a coffee pot with the wrong size pot, a glass serving tray and, one dish in the cupboard. There were no light bulbs in the lamps and mold was growing off the lamp shades. We had to kill at least one spider a day and saw one roach. We are adventurous people and made the best of our time and stayed out of the room as much as possible. The beach view is beautiful and we had a great time exploring the island.

This hotel was not as nice as had expected. Not only that but when we checked in there were all of a sudden resort fees. I like to know things like that up front. When asked what the resort fees were the lady at the front desk could not even really tell me. The rooms look like a motel not a hotel room. The hotel across the street was way nicer and cheaper.

Could see the ocean from my room. Older hotel. I enjoyed my stay immensely. It was worth the money we paid.

we have stayed at a few other hotels on the island. but by far this hotel was the best. the staff was very helpful. the rooms are large and nice. pool & access to the beach was very important to our stay. and we could not have been more pleased.looking forward to going back many more times.

Great location, the beach is literally outside your window. Very calm and relaxing, especially on weekdays. This hotel is actually more like a motel because you access your room from the outside. It needs some upgrading because its kind of old. Very Nice Hotel. This hotel is ideal for people who want a very relaxing vacation on the beach. The hotel room is quite large. Oceanside Inn and Suites is is clean enough with a homey appeal. The outside Pool and Jacuzzi were never crowded. The beach was beautiful- great for the stereotypical "long walks on the beach". The restaurant at the hotel was not good, so be prepared to pay the extra dollars at the gate to Jekyll island so that you can return to Brunswick to get food and maybe shop a little. My boyfriend and i went here instead of to Miami or somewhere more exotic because he wanted to go to a beach that wouldn't be crowded. We made the perfect decision because when we went, there was nothing but nice old folk. So that meant there was no one at the pool or jacuzzi. And the beach wasn't crowded and the people we encountered were soo nice. It was like the perfect tv town. Being people of color, we didn't know how people would be, but everyone was nice. I just wished that the hotel was cleaner or actually I wish it was newer because everything was clean, but it just seemed not as clean as it was old. Overall great stay and we would recommend it to anyone.

Oceanside Inn & Suites had some really nice people and a great view..but, the tiolet overflowed, there was an extremely huge spider in the room, a couple of huge roaches, and some other sort of bug tried to get in my Father's ear while he was asleep..The room was also a lot smaller than it was made out to be. It looked like it really needed a makeover. Paint was coming off of the walls..rust in the tub, the shower head didn't even work. The towels were stacked up on a very small area of tile so they would fall off into the floor if you didn't have them proped up just right. The restaurants were expensive, but good.

It was a great location! Are heater broke in the middle of the night and the kids were asleep so we could not change rooms. The hotel workers were not friendly at all and not very flexable! The hot tub was the best one I have been in for a long time and it felt great after a nice day at the beeach. We did not get in the pool it was to cold out but it was really big and nice and deep.We were one the second floor which we normally do not like because we do have kids but in the morning when you could lay in bed and see the ocean it was so worth it!

The Oceanside Inn and Suites was comfortable and larger than most motel rooms with a full size refrigerator, stove and kitchen area. It was very open and spacious. The room looked as if it had been recently renovated and updated from the years before we had stayed there. We started staying at this location back in the early 80's when our children were small, and looked forward to our annual vacations there because of the facilities and playground area solitude and privacy. The location was great and access to the beach was close by. The only thing I would recommend would be to update the beds. We found the one we slept in was not supportative and we rolled to the center of the worn out mattress. It also sounded like the box springs needed replaced because there was a loud cracking noise every time we sat on the edge or got into bed. I would stay there again and appreciate the value.
