If you are paying for an ocean view suite, you may receive street view opposed to ocean view. You can barely see the ocean from the first floor, but you can see and hear cars all day and night. My room was located outside valet service. I had to listen to valet talk all night.

Very pleasant hotel, and mostly pleasant, somewhat eager, service. Front desk a little amateurish, and not really helpful sometimes, in spite of technological sophistication. The desk clerk and concierge functions seemed to be combined in one person, and I don't think this worked well. The decor is really nice, as are the rooms, bedding, etc. Books all over the place, an original and successful touch. The rate seemed rather high all in all, but I would probably go back for the wonderful ocean front location and the very comfortable beds.

Wife and I stayed at this great hotel. They waited on us "hand and foot". A very customer service oriented hotel. Agruably the best hotel on Ocean Avenue! I WILL STAY HERE AGAIN! Drinks are pricey but very good - Dirty Martini's. Food is excellent at this hotel.

Room could have been in better repair. Sound transmission (feet and plumbing) from other rooms was considerable; thankfuly I am an early riser. Two windows were heavily fogged up due to glazing that had failed. Compensation of a half-bottle of wine just added insult. Faulty light switch was annoying. Arguably small stuff but not certainly expected at the price paid for the room. Wish I had called ahead to get something other than a first floor room.Staff did not seem knowledgeable or well trained in presenting options of where to go and how to get there without a car.

Really lovely with some very fine features, like interesting books in each room. The service was really friendly. Since we had two double beds, there was no chair for comfort. I missed that. The outfitting is so nice that I was alittle concerned about the damage my 6 year old could do (Frete towels, etc)

I had the most amazing stay at the Oceana this past month. We had the most spectacular view from our ocean view suite and the room was HUGE. The bed was very comfortable and the pastel colors in the room made us feel so welcome. The lounge is so cozy and the food is excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and more than willing to help us with finding restaurants and other places to go in Santa Monica. I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know.

The location was great, across from the beach and not too far of a walk to the promenade.
