The worst hotel I've ever stayed! The place was so dirty you didn't want to touch anything. The towels were stinking. The reception have an attitude problem. We woke up in the morning and outside our bedroom door there was a homeless woman sleeping on the corridor(!!!), and after 5 minutes she came downstairs to get the ''let's call it breakfast''. The most ridiculous breakfast I've ever seen. They put 2-3 tables on the main lobby-reception-entrance-sitting room. Bread baked last week, little butters, and a thermo with coffee. Completely crap!

The location. The rooms and customer service. The customer service was very poor and the free continental breakfast was a joke!

No ESPN. No make-up mirror. Very sweet balcony and view of Santa Monica pier and beach. Parking was practically impossible: tiniest parking garage ever seen, too tight for anything but a small car. Bed good, pillows good, shower adequate. Old, but clean and tastefully updated/decorated.

Rooms were old and run down and so were the hallways. You had to pay to use the internet in the lobby. Don't be fooled by the pictures. To go to the beach you had to cross a 4 lane street, walk a bit, then walk down many steps, cross an overpass over Pacific Highway, then walk a very long beach to get to the water. The parking lot you see in the picture brings in probably a thousand or more people from different areas to sit on the beach with you. My advice, if you stay here is to walk to the south side of the pier to famous "Muscle Beach" which is pretty cool, but not really convenient. The New Jersey boardwalk and piers are 100 times nicer than the one that is in Santa Monica. Location is good, because up the road is Malibu, and Universal Studios are a short distance away. The best thing around this hotel is the promenade which we visited on a Saturday night, and it had good restaurants, bars and entertainment. Our kids enjoyed that night out.

Great location. Continental breakfast was just coffee and toast. The hotel was good for the price. Most hotels in the LA area are expensive.

Santa Monica pier is just across Ocean Ave and the Prominade Shopping is close behind the hotel. Not far from LAX too. Great place for a weekend get away. Don't expect too much from the breakfast included as bagles, juice, cereal, and coffee is about the extent of it. Rooms are standard hotel rooms. If you want to stay in a fancy room with all the extras Lowes is next door at double the cost. For an "on the beach hotel at a reasonable price" this place can't be beat!

This hotel is in an excellent location, you can walk to all of what Santa Monica has to offer. All the restaurants and shopping is right around the corner. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. My husband and I stay at this hotel every year, it is really the best value for the area.

A little old... Needs new mattresses could use some updating. But all in all not too bad, but not great.

Room had a horrible smell and view. Room was very unclean. This was probably a nice hotel when it opened and was run by management that cared about its guests. Now it is only a hotel in a good location. Continental breakfast reached a new low with water coffee and hard bagels. Non-smoking room and room with a view are to be taken with a grain of salt with this hotel.

This hotel was terrible!! Not only were the hallways disgustingly dirty, but we had to tolerate an awful sewer-gas smell all night coming through the vents in our room, as well as in the hallway! Additionally, we only had one light in our room that worked! We couldn't switch rooms as the hotel was "booked solid" so we had to remain in that room. Luckily, we were only staying there for one night before we moved on to Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica (VERY NICE) The Ocean View was honestly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, and for them to charge $349 per night is highway robbery!! Do yourself and your family a favor and stay somewhere else for half the cost!

Had planned on staying 4 days but left after first night, the balcony on the balcony rooms is about the size of 3 sofa cushions. only one light in the room worked and had to listen to several neighbors all night. in addition to the room charges there is additional 15 dollar a night charge for your car. the hallways are really in need of updating as are the rooms , the towels in the room were stained yellow like they were peed on. the location is perfect though. Internet in room did not work and is cable connection but they advertised wireless , found out is only in lobby.

The hotel was clean and very well located, across from the Santa Monica Pier and beach, and just a couple of blocks from a nice shopping and dining area. The lobby of the hotel was spacious and the staff was friendly. The room was clean, with a comfortable desk at one end and a large bathroom at the other. Overall, the hotel felt cramped and oddly-shaped with zig-zag hallways and long, narrow rooms. The u-shape of the building meant most rooms looked into one another, and overlooked the parking area. No stairway access was available from the lobby to the rooms.

This place is no 3 star hotel. It was dirty, the front reception area is desolate and patched up. Breakfast was a joke. It included a thermos of coffee, Tang, and warm milk. The pasteries were the tiniest we had ever seen. The hallways are dirty. Looked like they hadn't vaccuumed in weeks. We will never stay here again. It was disgusting.
