This hotel looks ok from the outside but is a waste of money for the price. They have coffee, tang, and toast, calling it continental breakfast. The tub/shower was filthy and covered in rust. The room had a stale smell in it. The bed was old and the pillows flat. There isn't enough parking in the lot, and the location isn't good either. I was completely dissapointed.

It was just okay ,stayed in better hotels on 101 for the same price.

I arrived early in the afternoon to check in early but was denied. Asked if I could leave my bags there, but denied. Asked if I could complete the paperwork early, but was told that the room is guaranteed and pre-paid, so there is nothing to fill out. Asked if it was a 'no-smoking' room and was told 'Yes." So I went to my event in Del Mar (State Fair) and returned at 8:30. No one at desk, had to wait 15 minutes before some kid returned with MacDOnalds fast food. Still had to fill out some papers even though I was told everything was already taken care of. Went to room and no lights. Tv came on and clock radio was working, but no lights. AND, there were ashtrays all over the room. I returned to the fron t desk and said I was supposed to have a non-smoking room - it was supposed to be guaranteed. The kid gave me another room and key, so I went to check it out. When I walked in, the air conditioner was blowing full blast, but hot air. Checked the thermostat, tried adjusting it, but nothing but hot air. Noticed ants crawling along the counter in the vanity/bath area. I returned to the front desk and described the situation to the guy. He siad I must have done something wrong and went up to check (I followed). He couldn't get the A/C to cool, so he went back to the office and called the manager. He then told me they didn't have any more rooms so I couldn't stay there. This was supposed to be guaranteed by Travel website - guess I won't use them again!

I've stayed at the Ocean Inn twice while in town on business & loved that I could walk to the beach & watch a sunset at the end of the day! It is also within walking distance to many great restaurants, I recommend the Calypso w/ live music! Also a short drive from the Meditation Garden In Encinitas next to Swami Beach.

Looks close to beach on map but access is a 15 min hike, Beacons is a better beach than Grandview. Eat at Le Papagayo about 6 blocks south on 101, awesome breakfast! Rooms were clean and large, service is ok, if you wake early and want coffee bring your own coffee maker, none in the room. I brought a french press and there's a microwave/fridge in room. Not fancy, but you can't beat the price and Leucadia is a great little town. Very short walk to market and restaurants

This little hotel was really a great find for the money. Less than two minutes from pleasant, somewhat hidden beaches, it was a great place to get away from the crowds, even though it was Spring Break. The rooms were a little stinky (as sometimes happens in beach hotels). Amtrak trains screech by literally across the street. You're far enough away you don't get the vibration, but it will wake you up early in the morning if you're a light sleeper. The room was clean, however, and the staff friendly and helpful. It's a decent distance from either LA or San Diego. Still, it's a great little town and I had no real complaints about the room.

There is not a kitchenette in every room. Our room was not as updated as my in-laws. There is not fresh fruit in the continental breakfast. Only danishs in packages and toast.

This is an older, clean hotel with very friendly staff. No frills, but good value for the money.

Our room was clean and newly remodeled. However, the bed could have been softer. I felt like I was sleeping on a board, and that was not good for my pregnant body. The ceiling fans were a nice touch. I would recommend to people looking for a one night thing, but it's definitely nothing great.

Ocean Inn Hotel, Encinitas, California you get what you pay for folks on this one. Location was alright but not the best. Alright for a one night stay if you are passing through. We were going to a friend's weddding so it was barely acceptable. Not recommended to families with small children. Not the cleanest carpets and no pool or restaturants nearby. This place needs some management invovement. If you lower your standards you will be fine for a night.

Manager of hotel was nice, helpful. They had a continental breakfast but it was just coffee, juice (Sunny Delight), toast, packaged danish. Could also include yogurts maybe and cereal. No pool. Facilities ok but halls could be a bit cleaner. Nice to have washer and dryer available, fridge and micro in room. Location convenient.

"I loved the location on the main highway, rooms were a bit dated but over all clean. Staff was pleasant and helpful, found a jewel of an italian restaurant down the street. Beaches are not as close as stated unless your an experienced hiker."

Room was decent and clean. Internet connection did not work. Staff was superficially friendly, but seemed distant. Nice that sink was separate from bathroom.

"Upon arrival, the desk clrek was very friendly. I was so pleased how clean the room was, and every day following my visit.I felt very safe at all times. There is no pool; but the beach is a short walk or drive away.A great area to walk around. Great restaurants and shopping in the town of Encinitas."

Our only complaint was that we started noticing a funny smell in the room after a few days, but nothing that ruined our trip. The hotel was very comfortable, the area was beautiful, and the staff was lovely. The location was great--walking distance to the beach and many dining options, as well as easy access to major roads and a short drive to many other San Diego country attractions

The Ocean Inn is well located, clean and reasonalby priced. No frills are offered, but it is close to the beach, and right on HWY 101. I would go back

If the Ocean Inn Hotel were located fifty miles inland, I would likely be disappointed in the value it provides. Luckily, this hotel is situated in the heart of a beachfront community characterized by surfboards on car roof tops, vintage vehicles, and sunkissed citizenry. My room was clean enough and comfortable enough and cheap enough. Of course, I don't require much from a hotel. The highlight of the trip was the staff. The lady at the front desk was cordial and helpful. Her accent and demeanor were unique. I don't want to oversell the place on this point; however, I must say that this character added to that of the entire property.

I was surprised that the hotel was as nice as it was since we made our reservations last minute. The rooms were large enough to accomodate us all without crowding and the high cielings made them seem even bigger. Clean bathrooms, but no coffee pot.
