The grounds were beautiful, but the rooms are horrible. Very old and very, very small rooms. Since it was all-inclusive the meals and drinks were included. Meals were just OK. We wanted bottled water and were told that they could only provide one small bottle, per person, per day. If we wanted more we'd have to walk to bottle to the bar and fill it. It was not a nice trip and would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice getaway from the Scandinavian winter! A bit noisy from neigbour houses's air condition etc. Rambling carriages outside at 7 a.m. Staff very friendly and generous.

My family and I just recently stayed here and had an amazing time. Not only was the hotel beautiful with a great pool/beachside location, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay even better! Yes, there may not be the comforts of home like a soft cushy bed but if you are going on vacation to relax and sit out in the sun then who really cares! The entertainment was great and varied every night--we attended all of the shows! I also loved the classes offered during the day--they were highly entertaining and kept us on our feet. The staff also acccomodated us to great places outside of the resort in the evening which was great. The restaurants within the place were also good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going on a family vacation! A special thanks to the staff for making it a great time~You make this hotel!

While in Playa we visited the Tulum ruins and spent a large amount of time ont the beach. The beach for several of the hotels are small in size due to the ocean washing sand away. The Allegro Playacar had decent food, but the options were limited. One of the best meals is lunch by the pool the burgers and fries were amazing.

Went here with my teenage son for 4 days. Depends on what you are looking for. This place is smaller then all resorts around it. So was quite and service was great. the pools are nice but nothing fancy. They are working hard on beach and so it is small, but nice.You have big hotels around it that you can hang out at their beaches if you want action. The rooms are great because they are more like cabanas then hotel rooms three to four stories high. you have your own patio with a hamock to hang out on. The grounds are beautiful.

We booked through a Travel Agency and when the Allegro Playacar was presented to us, it looked great in the catalogue. In Nolitours' site, there was a note at the end of the advertisement saying that due to the major storms of the previous years, the beach is very narrow but there is a shuttle every morning and night to the Fisherman's beach.My travel agent assured me that it's all fixed now. That you might see the odd sand bags but only if the tide is very low.The first thing I did when I got to the hotel was walk to the beach. HORRIBLE. THERE IS NO BEACH - JUST ENORMOUS SAND BAGS THAT LOOKS LIKE A TROOP OF WHALES.and you think there was a shuttle. We had to take the cab every day back and forth to Playa Mamita, pay our chairs and palapas, pay our drinks, pay our food etc....At night, the entertainement was so boring, We went 20 miinutes and we had enough. You could see maybe 10 people sitting to watch the rest of the hotel is on 5th street because at least there you can party.Be wise - choose another hotel.

Overall the hotel was average. My husband and I were able to relax and enjoy our trip. The staff was friendly and made sure they made your experience a good one. The food was pretty good. The lunch by the pool was the best grilled burgers and fries, salad bar and soup. The rooms were clean. I would stay here again.

I was disappointed with the beach or rather the lack of it. The beds were hard but okay. No musty smell in our rooms. A/C in room was poor. Staff overall were great, pools were okay. Used Daypass to Allegro Cozumel - had a great time.

The beds are hard as a rock. The food is not great - its eatable. The location is great and going shopping on 5th ave. is a blast. This is fine to stay at for a short trip and is fairly cheap. If I was planning this trip for a long time or getting married here though I would be horribly dissappointed!! This is not a dream vacation spot by any strech of the imagination. It is a fair resort, nothing great. The grounds are nice. The pool (only 1) is very cold and hardly anyone went swimming. There is no hot tub. I guess the fact is that you get what you PAY FOR!!! If you want a great resort with a great beach then research and spend more money! We travel all over and I would not go back to this resort or this side of the island again because of the horrible beaches.

We hadd no beach,a view of a plywood wall around the pool,no diclosure that the beach was not accessisle unless you climb over sand bags and rocks, the rooms were damp, sink leaked even after being fixed.we complained and were told we could move but it would be 20 more a night.Very poor customer service.It was a frustrating Xmas.the other hotels were so much nicer,I had the feeling the ""huts"" were due to be torn down.

This was our first stay at Playa del Carmen. The staff was very nice and attending. The food at the buffet was alright nothing too amazing except on the mexican night. I suggest going to the Mexican or Italian rest. in the hotel because food is served a la carte and is very delicious. The beach isnt too great because of the hurricane that affected the area. The beds are pretty hard and the bathroom sometimes smelled like dirty sea water. However la Quinta is about a 15-20 min walk away or $5 by taxi. There are a lot of activities at the hotel and the night shows are amazing!!! There were ups and downs but it was a lot of fun!

"Family and I got there, had a few cocktails, awoke and found that the maid service stole my husband's brand new shoes. They had false advertisement- no beachfront. The swim up bar/pool started to fall into the ocean while we were there. My mother in law made the sad mistake of forgetting her bathing suit in her shower to dry;low and behold the wonderful maid service also stole her bathing suit! This place is a joke and needs to be torndown. If you are looking to stay at this, tent on the beach will serve you better!"

You can spend a few day near 5Th avenue, but if you like teh sand in your feets, the beach in this area is too small, but teh concept hotel offers a lot of confort for a piscine lovers

"There was NO BEACH, Only One Pool (other pool was closed as it was about to fall into the sea) NO WAY TO ACCESS BEACH...NO WATER ACTIVITES.The management couldn't have cared less if you ever got to stick your toe in the Carribean. This resort is a total rip off and should be closed. "

The Allegro Playacar was not a good value. The bathroom flooded every time we showered, VERY uncomfortable beds, Understaffed, Overbooked, and you are constantly bombarded by occidental Club Sales staff to purchase membership. After being sent to another location for 1 night because they were overbooked I never received the shuttle back and forth as promised, and had to pay for taxi to get back to Allegro. Close walk to the downtown area.

We stayed at this resort the week of 12/3/06. Web ads showed a wonderful beach area. This is false advertising. There is absolutely no beach at this resort and the activity pool cracked and began leaking while we were there. Actually they closed off the ocean front access completely. We were basing our selection of this resort from the picture advertised on this web site which are completely out of date. Many of the resorts on either side of the Allegro also had erosion problems with very little beach.

We stayed for 40th Bday. Restaurant so so. Bar is great! Beach has major erosion due to 05 hurricanes..apparently pool has fallen in since our visit. TOO much TIMESHARE HARD SALES! Stay elsewhere until renovations and pool repaired.

The hotel/resort was absolutely beautiful, especially the food. I really like the fact that everyday there are different kinds of food. For example, Monday was a mexican specialty, Tuesday's was Italian etc... The only clue I'd give it to you is to stay away from the concierge that asks you if you want to have breakfast with one of the Timeshare (which you don't know until later). Just say no unless you really want to purchase the membership for 15,000 so you can have exclusive stays at some of their places. Overall, everything was excellent! One more thing...DO NOT USE TELEPHONE UNLESS YOU REALLY HAVE TO. THE UNDISCLOSED SERVICE FEE FOR PHONE USAGE IS $4.00. I had to call grayline to take me to the airport and spoke about 9 minutes on the phone and it cost me $18.00 American dollars. OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!
