I travel to the Dominican Republic at least once or twice a year. This so call resort Oasis Hamamca was disgusting ! I stayed there for a week and it went from bad to worse. Flies all over and in the food. When you complain your answer is that it is the season. On the beach in front of us they made a cocktail for someone and a bee fell in the drink the guy just took it out and handed it over to the guest, After that it was burnt toast for the rest of the trip . When I arrived how I discovered that I have bacteria in my stomach and I am currently taking Lequilin which is a very strong antibiotic. towels DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT for 2 days I dried myself with TISSUE!! what a dam waste of money , do not go there , also the animation people suck , they are not creative. SUPER small beach to fit about 100 people only , the pics on the internet are deceiving .

Everything was nice but when I walked into my room it was very hot! I turned on the A/C unit to cool the room and left, but when I returned it was a little cool but still warm. Several calls were made to the front desk to have someone come and check the unit, but it didnt happen. That night was spent sweating, then I went to the front desk to complain and they said they would send someone right over... that seemed to work but some of my nights were still hot and barely got sleep.

I don't know what everyone is talking about, we just came back from a weekend getaway at this hotel and to tell you the truth the other reviews are really dramatic. I have been to numerous resorts and this isn't that bad, after all you are getting your money's worth. The resort activities were great and a lot of people got involved. The drinks, well they were ok, but it was all-inclusive resort what do you expect, at least they didn't stop coming. The hotel-well we had a great room with a great view. It was clean and the A/C was working just fine. As far as food goes, it wasn't great-it was ok, but they did have a large variety, even for children. Entertainment, I thought it was great that they provided entertainment on the resort instead of going out on the town (which isn't too safe). They also had a mini-discoteca, and a casino. It isn't a five star resort but it is a GOOD resort, no to mention how big it is. The resort is large enough for all to enjoy. If you planning to go, do take the time out to find the little getaway ares to sit, they are really cute.

Pool was nice food was OK, people were nice. Original room, dirty, unsafe, extremely humid, shower dirty bed was at least 30 years old. I got great service, free internet, a clean room with a clean bathroom, and clean sheets on the bed.

Pros- Great location, beautiful beach, clearest water, calm good swimming and snorkeling, great for learning to sail or wind surf. Snorkel out of the swimming area to see fish, past next resturant there is underwater junk with lots of fish. Better than the snorkeling tour we paid for. Cons - Many steps from the main hotel down to the beach, hard for my dislocated foot and out of shape body. Elevator holds 5 people, not air conditioned, made for hot rides. Dominican Republic has rolling blackouts. At least this hotel has it's own back up power. The power went off about 5 times the last 2 days. Usually back on in few minutes. Mini-bar, you are allowed 2 cokes and 2 beers daily. Anything else they charge, I think it was for snickers and for small Gatorade. Drinks we're that great. Mine were fine, but wife never got a good Margarita. Buffett was ok. Lots of stuff to choose from, but not cooked the same as in USA. Condo sells people get you when you cross the street to the other part of the resort or when you go to the beach. Just tell them NO THANKS. Overall - we left and went to Jamiaca from here. Wife likes here better and wants to come back. Loved the fact that we learned to sail, or at least enough to be dangerous. We went to shows every night and were part of a couple of them. Hard to understand but the MC is speaking 5 languages. Shows are kinda corny but what else is there at night. They said it is dangerous outside the resort, we went with XYZ and had no problem. Enjoy!

This place has a great beach, nice pools and a terrific "animation" team! There are a few issues with the check-in procedure, but overall, a great experience.

The restaurants were very good. I am definitely going back. I would recommend my friends and I enjoyed the amenities the hotel provided. The hotel does not have the best shows and entertainment. The food is outstanding local dominican stuff. It is a place you can relax and enjoy yourself with family. Be sure to eat at "The Fugon" I like the fact that it is very local to the airport so there is a short drive after being on the plane for at least 3 and a half hours. This hotel has everything you need to really enjoy a vacation.

Two rooms booked 4/1/09 for 5/22/09. Informed staff of a late checkin by calling hotel the week of stay. When we arrived the clerk could not find us in the system. Finally he located paperwork that was placed on the counter for our arrival. He then took about 20 mins to find new rooms, because he had given ours away. The rooms assigned should not be inhabited. Doors to rooms were open when we got to the building (10 minute walk)like they were being renovated. Never mind I asked for something close to most venues since I am a senior citizen. The rooms were not clean, no towels to be found and the sheets on one bed were visible dirty. Walked back to the front desk, because no directory on phones and no answer. The gentlemen who stated he was a supervisor said he could not help one room, but could move one group to another room. Now it's 2.5 hours later and we have missed dinner and we want the bed. We concede only to find out the first room's shower did not have hot water and the shower head ended up in my hand. Nevertheless we weather the storm with the hope that we could see someone in authority the next day. Remember the open doors, well so will I because I have the misquito bites to prove it. Day 2 leaves us at the mercy of the next level supervisor who assured me at 9:00 AM that by 3:00 PM she would change the rooms. When I called at 3:00 PM she starts passing the buck and tells me to wait until 4:00 pm. During the wait in our respective rooms there is a rain storm. Next thing I hear is one of my fellow travelers yelling for help. She was taking a shower and the celing came down. Now the housekeeper is running for help and she gets maintenance. I call the front desk ,no one is answering, so I walk for ten minutes in hard rain to get help with the shower head of one room in hand. To add insult to injury the supervisor proceeds to tell guest services to handle it. This new lady must have thought we were liars because she tells me she wants to see the room. We walk

It's a very nice hotel in a wonderful location, the beach was sublime, just watch out for ocassional visits from jellyfish. The Food at the Hamaca was not great especially the breakfast. The restaurants were average and the drinks were terrible, I was dissapointed that I could not find quality pina colada or any other drink for that matter. I also felt some of the gentlemen at check-in were not really friendly.

Basically you get what you pay for and this is no exception, if your expectations are not high you wont be disappointed. Rooms are clean and large, everything worked..Food Just average and sometimes not even. No one speaks English. The beach is nice but the water is very shallow for as far as you can walk out...The pools are crowded with locals (they get a spacial rate) The Drinks are TERRIBLE they use the cheapest alcohol, that sometimes I was convinced was not even alcohol...The Italian Restaurant was good and the breakfast was ok..Probably not a place you would go back to twice..but if your in a group its ok...Nightclub was fun (only spanish music though)
