Mixed bagComfortable lodge - although no kitchen facilities. Breakfast food poor - cold and long -ago cooked food, weak coffee, little choice after 8.30, papers not delivered, had to ask for pool to be uncovered and outside furniture to be cleaned of bird muck. Main window left smeared for 3 days of stay. Staff however very friendly and helpful. Bathroom access through bedroom. Nice large tv - it was Wimbledon week!

Staff were very friendly & helpful. Didnt use restaurarnt for evening meal as there are several pubs offering better value deals within short walk along river. Breakfasts were a little fraught as restaturant was clearly short-staffed & one morning chef forgot to turn on food heaters & food went cold (this was rectified quickly once mentioned). Be wary of train noise too especially if at front of hotel! Would stay here again!

the room was perfect except for the fact that the picture on the lovely big tv was very poor, i would have expected there to have been sky tv which would have made all the difference to our enjoyment of our stay.we will return again and hopefully the tv issue will be sorted out.

Hotel not as imposing as the picture. Single room I had was very small. Nothing to write home about and no particular reason to stay here again. Would only be on price.

Stay in the Lodges, stay in the lodges, i cant emphasise this any further ok... they are like apartments and a home away from home..

OAKLANDSOnly stayed 1 night. Fairly old fashioned/traditional in some respects, tartan carpet, squeaky wood floors, local people in the evening.Receptionist was really extremely pleasant and very helpful. She printed off a map for directions for me having looked up where I wanted to go on google. Room was pleasant, v quiet, little warm for me. Food was ok. It was v resonably priced for a stay over and was worth it in that respect. I stayed alone. I did not see any children at all so think more of an adult place altho for a stop overnight it is probably ok for kids. Wd stay again.

I recently stayed in one of the Lodges and I must say it was exceptionally good. Very private, luxurious and spacious and with the Hotel next door everything you need is on your doorstep. The Lodges make you feel like you are a VIP, with plasma TV and games console, your own lounge and kitchen area and my particular lodge had wonderful views over the river and a Jacuzzi bath!!I went into the Oaklands hotel for a drink in the bar and found the staff to be really friendly and helpful and in the restaurant I had the roast pork which was cooked to perfection and again the service was fast and friendly. My wife is a very fussy eater and Vegetarian but this was not a problem at all she had the vegetable hot pot which I tried and was very tasty indeed.I would recommend this to anyone, the Lodges are new Hotel experience definitely worth trying…

I was very happy with my room as when I checked in I was allocated the honeymoon suite complete with a 4 poster bed & whirlpool bath.Staff were very polite and happy to help I can't complain about anything the free wireless access was a bonus and more than enough for my needs.Thanks

review of OaklandsNegatives - hotel is close to rail lines, trains start at 5 in the morning and go by at frequent intervals.Had to switch rooms as shower came off the wall when I tried to use it.Only had four television channels available in my room.Positives - free wifi, close access to St Andrews Business Park

The Hotel was fantastic it was re-furbing some of the rooms our room's bathroom looked like it could do with it. Having said that it was very clean, very traditional and superbly located. I'd stay again.

The hotel had a lovely homely feel with a really nice menu in the restaurant. The receptionist was very welcoming and she even gave us a free upgrade on arrival since they had better rooms still empty... hey, you don't ask you don't get!Would reccomend this hotel and restaurant!

Upon arrival, a sign in the lobby signalled a late night DJ was playing at the hotel. This apparently was the moment to go and book another hotel, or lump it.The rave music carried on till 1a.m, complaing to the 'management', was told 'What do you expect, it's December, do you think we only hire hotel rooms out?', as this should explain why I wasn't going to get any sleep the night before a long days work!! Strange though as 'The Oaklands Hotel' was their business name, one would be excused in thinking 'hotel rooms' would be their main concern.I would recommend using any hotel in the Norwich area, rather than spend and evening at this feeble excuse for a hotel.

Food was very basic I wish I had gone out for dinner. Only one waiter at dinner, who did try his best to take care of everything on his own. Although at breakfast time the cook did fry me my eggs as I wanted.

Two little niggles. The heating was turned up extremely high making most areas uncomfortably hot and we were only provided with 1 set of toiletries for 3 of us and no disposable shower cap which would have been greatly appreciated.

We arrived at 7pm and had booked an executive room, on going to the room we found the door held open by a large pile of damp towles and bed linen. the room smelt damp and the staff could not confirmed it had been cleaned, we were given another room which had been cleaned and which was much larger than the first. even in this room we found empty shower/shampoo bottles in the shower. Very poor first impressions which only improved with breakfast where the service and food were good. Very over priced for a very average hotel

Friendly staff, lemon chicken and potato salad to die for! Breakfast decidedly average. Room in need of updating but very clean. Far too hot! Central heating to the max and can't be turned down individually in the rooms. I'm sure the jacuzzi bath proved to make for an enjoyable evening for the girl I could hear giggling all night in the room above me, however it sounded like a jet plane to me... Note to self, must get one of those at home, she was definately enjoying herself!!!!
