We visited Ottawa for the first time, mostly to experience Canada Day. Compared to our hotel in Montreal, we were very very pleased with the Novotel Ottawa. It was clean, appeared to be quite new, had pleasing decor, and the staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome. The bed was comfortable, had a wonderful duvet (compared to those gross bedspread things you get at most other hotels), and the room was up to speed with technology (flat screen TV and Internet availability, with a desk for your computer). Even during the excitement of Canada Day (huge crowds partying outside), we found the hotel to be an escape from it all. There was plenty of security, with no chance that drunken party-people would wander in and disrupt your stay.

Easy to get in from the highway, it is located only 3 blocks from Parliament Hill. The check in was straight forward and the front desk young fellows were friendly and useful with the info. The beds (two queen that looked more like doubles) were very comfy, but the TV choice of channels (we didn't care much about it though) was just so so. Parking and breakfast were extra. Internet wireless was complimentary.

Location. My room was very far from the elevators.

the location was perfect walking distance from a lot of stuff. even walked back from the museum of civilization in hull and it only took about twenty minutes. right next door to the rideau centre. (shopping, restaurants, Goodlife gym {recommended over the provided hotel gym} the hotel was very busy on account of a kids hockey tournament, and there was a lot of kids/pre-teens roaming the hallways - but simply asking them to be quiet was sufficient and didn't need to get the hotel staff involved. the bigger downside was there was no top sheet on the bed - just the comforter, and while it looked "comfortable" i prefered to have a top sheet between me and the "communal" comforter. the pop machine didn't work, but the mini bar was well stocked - although expensive (as mini bars usually are) flat screen TV was nice, and were a definite must in the smaller rooms.

Comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and very close to attractions, Not enough parking spaces, noise in halls late nights. Comfortable rooms, short walking distance to mall and Parliament Hill, not sufficient paid parking spaces is the only concern.

It's located in downtown ottawa which is close to everything. I went there for business and everywhere I went, was just walking distance. The room was clean and nice decoration. I love the bathroom and flat screen TV !!!!

Though the room was relatively small, it was comfortable. The location was very central for visiting Ottawa. The breakfast items didn't really change the four days we were there but the quality was very good, especially the baked items; it was like they have their own patisserie.

Parking. The hotel was very clean, nice staff and good dining. The major problem was with the underground parking, which is located in an adjacent building, operated by a third party. It was a hassle dealing with the parking. Would not go back if I needed the parking, other wise perfect.

I can not say enough kind words about the hotel staff. We had a few difficulties with the airline and they were incredibly helpful and kind.

This hotel is close to anything you would want to do in Ottawa. Forget about renting a car, it is all within walking distance. The rooms were spacious and clean (wide screen plasma tv on wall). sort of a European feel to the decor. Hotel staff spoke Eng and Fr and knew without asking which to use. Very helpful. Shares pool with Les Suites

Novotel had a very comfortable, attractive room. It was ready for us before noon, tho we asked for a late arrival. The location was excellent! We walked to Parliament buildings and the Byward market place. Walked to dinner at night to 2 different restaurants and felt safe. Shopping was also nearby.

Beds were very hard so did not get good night sleep. Shared pool. We had a nice stay at the Novotel Hotel except for the fact that the beds were as hard as a rock. The pool area was full of kids as it was shared by 2 hotels.

I've stayed at this Novotel numerous times over the years and am very impressed with the renovations to the rooms. The rooms are bright and modern and clean and they have plasma TVs on the wall. I've stayed in both the regular rooms and the mini-suites, which have sliding doors to separate the bedroom from the living room, which has a couch, Plasma TV and a nice desk for working. It's conveniently located just two blocks from Parliament Hill and the Byward Market area where there are lots of dining options.I'd definitely recommend the Novotel Ottawa for business and leisure.

The Novotel was very comfortable but small rooms and we were on the 9th floor and the pool was hard to find ( lol quite a journey to get there lol )

Great location - close to major attractions. The decorating was cheap - room size was small. Compared to other similar hotels that I have stayed at, this hotel did not meet my expectation. Hotel staff was very pleasant and friendly.
