Novetel, Montreal Centre, is located 1/2 block from St. Catherine and one block from Cresent St. - close to the action but not enough to be bothered by any noise if you are an early sleeper. The lobby had a computer/printer available for customer usage. Ice and soda machines on each floor and a fitness room in the basement. The rooms are comfortable with flat-screen TVs, great beds and modern bathrooms although a little lacking in privacy and unconventional with the split, wood and frosted glass doors. The room was a little short in clothing storage space with 3 small drawers and a moderate closet. They do provide a free safe, iron w/an ironing board and card-swipe door entry. The only bone that I had to pick was with the mini-frig/mini-bar that was packed full of pricey (fully monitored) goodies but left no room to store anything of you own (doggie-bags, juice/soda, etc.).

The room was comfortable and roomy. It was clean and bright. When I asked staff where to buy an umbrella, it was at a time when most stores were not open so the girl at the desk went and got me her own umbrella to use. The staff pleasantly answered all of my questions and were pleasant at all times. I thought the restaurant was a little pricey compared to other hotels in the area.

We stayed here on a Saturday & Sunday night in May-2008. Fantastic location for dining and downtown activities (like the Musee des Beaux Arts). We ate dinneer on outdoor restaurant patios within 2 blocks, very popular area, close to the hockey arena (alas, they were done for the season) and the Metro stop. Hotel parking was tight but worked well for us. The hotel is on a quieter street than some of the other alternatives in that neighborhood. I thought it was perfect for a trip to Montreal, and hope to stay in Novotel hotels again in other cities.

The rooms were spacious, clean, nicely appointed, and beautifully decorated. Although the view was lacking somewhat, the point of my stay was not to lounge inside looking out the window, so that did not matter to me. The location could not have been better, within minutes to everything downtown. Staff was friendly, and eager to be of assistance. It only could have been improved by the addition of a pool/work-out area. Highly recommended.

We got a Novation King room which was really roomy and nice. Wish wireless internet was included, but nice sofa and really decent bathroom. Nothing to complain about at all with the room itself. Location was great - block away from St. Catherine's and Crescent, far enough away that it was quiet. Had breakfast buffet one morning - tasty but pricey. Biggest complaint was the service...nt very helpful at all, especially upon arrival, when we expected some help with tourism, maps, etc. Most questions were answered with some annoyance. Our only luck was with one employee, who was extra friendly and very helpful. Other than that, we weren't greeted with much in the way of honest friendliness or a desire to help. No question of how our stay was or even a drive home safely when we checked out. Very disappointing.

Nice hotel, great staff: friendly and quite helpful. Room was clean and nice. Great value for Montreal. Good location and area. Only thing that was a problem was that our room was on the 2nd floor facing the street and the street sounds were pretty loud. But it is not the fault of the hotel that people in Montreal stay up and party late into the night. We opted to stay in our room to get a view of it all anyway.

Great location, helpful staff, cleans modern rooms. Only issue was heat control in room. Offered a hot to cold dial not the ability to set the desired temperature.

This is a pleasant, easy to find, enjoyable, modern place to stay. The parking garage is next door and is not owned by the hotel, but the rate is incredibly reasonable at $15.00. The other place I stayed it was $25.00 a day and you had to pay extra to get your car out. At this hotel you get a bar code and you can go in and out as much as you like.

It is a simple and conveniently located hotel. Great for business travel or family vocation. But they've got to improve their service. Only after I insisted and then they searched around and found the material, fortunately. The facilities are way too old (mattress sunk, sheets are torn, etc.) To be a 3 star hotel. I'd say 2-2.5 star is more like it.

I got this hotel at the last minute, and I was quite happy with the location. The parking was reasonable ($15.95) and what made a huge difference was the very friendly, professional and helpful staff. If you want a cheap, basic, good but no frill place to stay in Downtown Montreal, this is a good place.

This hotel never quite makes it as a favorite. A noisy location, not the most convenient as well; staff that can be helpful, but not actively friendly or warm.

First we got a smoking room, which was unacceptable (i didn't know that they still exist). But the staff was very friendly and gave us another room. This second one was o.k., but not like a 4 star room. It was a little bit dusty and pretty small. Unfortunately they don't have a pool or something else to do with a very young child.
