The Novotel Birmingham Airport is the closest you can get without sleeping in the Airport itself. You can literally roll out of bed and into the Airport lobby. Where it all falls apart is with the service and the inability to give you fair treatment. The hotel desk staff will be hit or miss. Having stayed there already 3 times in a month and half, I found an odd language barrier causing problems in communication. If you have a problem in your room as I did on 2 occasions, you will wait. They are very short staffed. The Bar is small, has a good barkeep and nice wait staff. The prices are fair and the drinks are generous. The restaurant has a nice mixed menu. The best bargains ae to be had in their Starter, Sample or Taster part. You can have a starter portion, a sample portion which is even smaller or a taster portion somewhere inbetween the two. I ordered a taster sample and was shocked at how much food there was. The prices even by UK standards are expensive but the quality is good. So where is the problem? Well, I had to wait 45 minutes on one trip 25 minutes on another and the first trip they originally told me they could not take me till 10PM when it was only 7:15 when I checked in. If you have a 6am check in you don't really want to start to eat at 10:30PM do you? I guess on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the hotel a 6 and the restaurant a 7 1/2. But it gets a 10 for closest to the gates.

Wanted a room for the night prior to an early flight next morning - hotel situation was ideal literally across the road to airport terminal - couldn't have been any closer.Beds comfortable - squeaky door to lift area just outside our bedroom - would have been annoying if I didn't have to be up so early. Bar food fine and service good

Perfect overnight for Terminal 1Couldn't be better positioned for Terminal 1! Quiet (due to excellent double double-glazing). Rooms a reasonable size - especially for the LR.com price. Well appointed and very clean. Great drop-off facility outside the hotel so no need to park-up and drag bags across from the car parks! (Or family for that matter!) Friendly staff. Only draw back - really small lifts........ but now I'm picking.

ok but not greatHotel is in a good location but the general condition is not overly great. Whilst the rooms have good facilities, they also are a little worn and tired looking. My main issue with the hotel is the lack of parking, meaning you are forced to use the airport cark parking at a ridiculous rate. Surely the hotel could arrange some kind of negotiated rate with NCP for residents ?

Handy Birmingham hotelThis is a very good hotel if you are going to the NEC, travelling from the Airport of doing something in Birmingham. There is plenty of parking, and a 90 second overhead rail link to the NEC and the rail station into Birmingham City Centre. Hotel staff were friendly and very courteous, without making you feel out of place. We were casual travellers.

Flying visit to NECExcellent for flying into visit NEC. Hotels doors 100m from airport departures. Simple internal airport walk and free air to rail shuttle and walk direct into NEC. Food pretty good from standard menu incl kids menu. Room fine for a short stay, no noise but no aircon just room ducted heating so could get over hot in good weather. Facilites as described there and working. Good visit, no complaints, certainly recomend

Get ripped off at the Birmingham NovotelFirst issue...the fact that consumers are not able to remain anonymous about leaving the following comments without review from the hotel which are able to make decisions on whether the following information about their hotel and service will reach public view...this is very poor.Avoid booking if you have any other option at all. Check in was excrutiatingly slow, staff nattering. The hotel has no valet parking..you have to struggle in with your own luggage then figure out which NCP carpark you dare leave your car in at the airport then make your way back across very badly laid out and dangerous pedestrian system. The hotel gives the impression of looking modern and smart on their photographs but is tatty and worn and not particularly clean. The rooms are a discrace. We booked a twin room and a sofa bed had been pulled out for one of the beds which looked like it was close to falling apart. Because of this we had to share the other bed. Very poor lighting, cheap and tatty fixtures and fittings, a toilet which resembled that of a grotty public toilet in a market somewhere which actually had human excrement on the walls. The only upside was storage for cases. Even the hairdryer didn't stretch to the mirror, which had no light in front of it so you couldn't see what you were doing anyway.Tried phoning the 24 hour room service for food in the night around 2pm and no one would pick up there or at reception after 3 go's gave up.Middle of the night the heating shoots up to about 100 degrees, we both wake up with our eyeballs stuck to our eyelids feeling like we had spent a night in the Dubai desert. We were rushing to a corporate event on the saturday night - the taxi took 20 mins to come to the hotel dispite being at Birmingham airport (now you think there would be some taxi's there!!?). The ABC taxi driver (note to selves do not use because they will rip you off left right and centre) got out of the cab when we sat in and proceeded

Nice location near airport and NECLocated at the Airport with free monorailservice to the NEC - ExcellentAtr this time no problems in the hotelroom with regard to noise from arriving or departing planes - ExcellentVery friendly staff at the reception desk.Room too small for 2 queen-size beds; difficult for 3rd or 4th person to get in/out of bed.Toilet nicely separate from bathroom. Too bad the bathroom-floor was done with fake 'wood'strips that were allready detached below and in front of the sink and bath. No hairdryer in the bathroom. The room is a little disappointing for the price. Best suitable for one single, male business traveller who is not paying himself for the room.

GREAT FOR THE AIRPORThave stayed at the novotel at birmingham airport a number of times. it is ideal for early morning depatures or late night arrivals as you literally just cross the road and you are there. the staff are all excellent and very efficient. cant fault this hotel for convenience and customer service.

BedsThe beds were apalling. Tiny, wooden and wobbly. We had to screw the legs on both beds in our room just to be able to put our cases down. The bathroom had mould between the tiles and the lighting in the bedroom area was very poor.

novotel birmingham airportlateroom price of £65per room per night is ok not worth full price of £175/night the hotel is built in a car park which the hotel does not control therefore 15min free for droping off and picking long term car park number one (£12up to 24hours)is a courtesy bus ride away

Our bedroom was acceptable for a short one night stay. We checked in at 10:00pm and had to leave at 04:30am to catch an early flight. The bed was very close to a wall making it difficult for my partner to get out of bed. The carpet was in a very poor condition which suprised me for a Novotel. The shower however was very bad. The hose was broken and it quickly flooded the bathroom floor which meant I could not have a shower before I left which, for me, completely ruined my stay. Finally £2.40 for a glass of soda water - I ask you! Being in the trade myself it will be interesting to see if anyone from Novotel checks client these reviews and contacts me.

The arrangement of furniture in the room made it difficult to get into the bed. Very little room on one side, about 12 inches and a bed settee on the other side with wooden legs with which my toes painfully collided twice during our stay. I would have though that, given the size of the room, the bed settee could have been better sited allowing the bed to be in a more central position.

Shower facilty needs to be improved.
