The light next to the bed did not have a light bulb. Heat bulbs in bathrooom were burnt out. No one had cleaned the bathroom. The outside window did not open due to a broken lock. Windows covered with bird do do and they were dirty inside.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Northwoods Resort while skiing at Snow Summit. Great stay at lodge style resort. The location is terrific for walking to the Village for shopping and meals. The kids loved the outdoor pool and spa which was surrounded by snow. The rooms were exceptionally clean. Snow Summit was an easy 5 minute drive. Room was quiet and bed was comfortable. We felt like the price was good given it is the height of ski season and we had fresh snow both nights. At check-in, I asked for a referral to rent ski equipment and received a discount card to an extremely reasonable rental location on the way to the mountain. There is a switch in the room for additional heat; however, we found the temperature very comfortable with the switch "off". We will definitely return to the Northwoods.

This hotel is right in the middle of the city. You can walk to village and Lake. No need to use the car. The hotel was short staffed but those who were there were friendly and courtious. The pool and jacuzzi is heated year around, so if your going in winter bring your bathing suit, we didn't and regretted it. Holiday decorations were great and really got us into the holiday spirit. The restaurant and lounge closes early, so you will have to go somewhere else for after dinner drinks.

Most hotels we stay at have such hard beds we can't get a good night sleep. The bed was perfect at this hotel, and it was very quiet. I slept like a baby! The location was great too. We didn't have to drive every where, we were able to walk to all the little shops. We had a nice weekend.

I stayed with my wife and three year old daughter in this hotel over New Year?s eve and New Year?s day evening. For the most part, everything about our stay was satisfactory or better. The Northwoods is a nice hotel in a great location. However, the climate control in the room had only two settings, on or off. There was no automatic setting. If left on, it got WAY too hot, even on the coolest setting. If left off, it got too cold. We tried leaving the heat on and opened a window, but smoke for the surrounding chimneys poured into our room. We had no choice but to keep the window closed. All night long, my wife and I alternated turning the heat on and off every hour or so. In the morning, we complained to the front desk. They made a service request to maintenance and offered a $20 discount for the previous night. Later that morning, we had a message indicating that there was nothing maintenance could do, and that was just the way it was. After the second night, we decided to cut our trip short, because the climate control problem was making us all to get sore throats and coughs. You might expect this from a cheap hotel, but this room was almost $ per night. The hotel discounted the room $20 for each of the two nights of our stay, and they lost the room charge for the third night that we would have stayed. It is very unfortunate because everything else about the hotel was satisfactory or better :-(

Front Desk preceptively re-assigned our room to a quieter location away from large family with kids.

The location was good. Don't book the junior King Suites as the TV is not in front of the bed. The room is a very strange set up and not comfortable, when you consider most rooms allow you to lay in bed and watch TV. The air conditioner in our room didn't work, even after they said they sent someone in to fix it.

We were here in December 2008. One night. Good location at beginning of the Village Drive just one block off highway. Clean, comfortable, a little cheesy with the cabin decor but nice. maybe a little aged. The hot tub was great, the heated pool was heated to about body temp and very nice on a cold mountain night.

At an event at the Northwoods, many people got food poisoning. Although Northwoods denied responisility and took NO actions until impelled to be the San Bernardino Board of Health (who sadly came in after Northwoods was able to clean up their kitchens), the meal there was the only meal shared by all the guests who got sick. Northwoods didn't even offer to help the people who were sick in their own hotel. Staying there was an awful experience, and I urge you to look elsewhere.

During our stay the hotel was poorly staffed. Not happy with the service, but the hotel does have a very good location.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was very nice. My only complaint, and I didn't complain because of the cost, was that I asked for a top floor and they put me on the second floor, so the hallway was noisy, flushing toilets and showers, but overall a good experience. I definitely would stay again, just ask for third floor.

I would definately recommend staying at Northwoods Resort and Conference Center in Big Bear. My husband and I didn't know what we were getting into by booking a hotel room in Big Bear but we were both pleasantly surprised. After driving by several motels on the way there, we began to get frightened by what we saw because other motels looked shacky and dirty. However, we breathed a sigh of relief as we pulled up to the Northwoods Resort and Conference Center. It is big, very nice and clean while it still gives you the feeling of a lodge in the wilderness. It has it's own lovely restaurant and is also in very close walking distance to shops and restaurants. We booked on the off season and got a heck of a deal. What a great value for the money ! This was our second stay at Northwoods Inn and it was just as great as last year. It is very close to all the restaurants, shopping, and of course the slopes. You definitely could walk to The Village from the hotel. Its also super convenient since its one of the first hotels right as you come up the mountain. Very clean, great staff. Good sized roomsm, Highly recommend!

Descent rooms, Clean, nice property. Beds weren't very comfortable (need new matresses badly).

We were very excited to stay in this 'rustic charmer.' The staff was helpful when we needed extra pillows and had questions about things going on around town. Unfortunately, room service was only available a few hours a day which made us trek about town on our first trip away without the kids. How unromantic. The attached restaurant Stillwells was decent but finer, more affordable fare was available in town. The cleaning crew threw away a new prescription I had on the counter, but were unable to toss the trash. It was very strange. To date, the replacement of my prescription has still not been handled. All in all, we weren't that pleased with our stay. The view of the trash recepticles was exceptional.

The Northwoods Resort was everything I expected and more. I have very high expectations and every single one of them were met. Clean Rooms, friendly service, nice atmosphere, comfortable rooms and easy walking distance to the heart of Big Bear.

Stayed one night 08/21/08. Although the entire package was adequate it was overall underwhelming. There was a musty smell about the place. Bed was comfortable, had a nice gas fireplace, rustic style decor was nice. Location was inside the Village which was nice. We could have gotten a much better rate elsewhere as we were driving around seeing what other places were going for at that time.

It's great to stay in the mountains for a weekend getaway. Fresh clean air. Chilly nights and overall a great comfortable hotel. I liked that it had a tub/shower. I would have preferred an LCD television instead of that small old tv. OUr neighbors were extrememly loud all night. I'm sorry the walls aren't thick enough to prevent noise. Great fireplace in the room. Location is walking distance to the village but didn't walk due to the cold. Shops don't open until late in the morning.
