Fantastic Service in a Fantastic HotelI booked this hotel as a surprise for the wife on our first annivesary. She had wanted to stay here for over a year due to its Art Deco design. When we arrived, the staff had very kindly put us in the annex to the hotel as there was a function taking place, and they thought it would be quieter (This in itself was also an upgrade). They were very helpful and answered every question. They were very professional, the bar staff were very courteous and professional. We only ate breakfast once, but the standard was excellent. I would definately recommend this hotel, especially to those who would like to stay in something different to the modern boxes around!

An overnight stay.We enjoyed our stay at The Northern where we were upgraded to an apartment which was very nice the apartment was located in a block next to the Hotel and alto. we had to walk along to the Hotel this was no problem. Our only concern was that alto. the Windows were Double Glazed it was still noisy owing to being on a main Road, also Curtains would have helped to keep out the light from the Street Lights.

northern hotelWe were moved to a quieter part of the hotel as there was a function on both nights of our stay, and the reception staff realised that we were not part of the function group staying overnight, and therefore moved us to a very pleasant apartment attached to the hotel.The meal we had there was excellent; as were the breakfasts.Those staff we came into contact with were all pleasant and helpful.

So So !!!!Room was clean and modern, reception staff very good. Negatives :- Location is not very good , nowhere to out to eat so limited to hotel, Parking is only on the main road , which I was not comfortable with ion looking at the area. Food was average , bar service quite poor , waited 10 mins for a drink, on reminding them took another 5 mins.Would only stay again if limited for choice

Needed somewhere to stay in Aberdeen at short notice and this was one of the only hotels in the city with availability. Higher cost reflects the scarcity of rooms in Aberdeen rather than the quality of the accomodation. Hotel is well located and but rooms are pretty dated and I would not return through choice. Service was good and room was clean.

A very nice 30's style art deco hotel near to Aberdeen city centre, and was not too expensive in spite of this. Meals served in the lounge bar were first class. Bedroom accomodation very good, although the noise of early morning traffic was a bit of a problem, but that was not a big issue.

Hotel would have been fine but for my room being right above the ballroom. They seem to have live music everynight and in room 212 you can hear every note. it finishes at 10pm but having been driving and working all day it was not the relaxing night I had hoped for. Roseanne at reception and manager Tom were very apologetic and handled the situation very professionally but it I expect peace and quiet in a hotel.

I was given a room in the new annexe. It was on the second floor yet- there is no lift nor a connection to the main part of the hotel. This I found an almost incredible design fault. The room was freezing cold and not very comfortable.When checking in I explained that I would eat in the hotel both dinner and breakfast and ordered a newspaper. I was told it was hotel policy to require payment in advance. I paid. The dining room, which looked very attractive, was closed so I had to eat in the crowded and noisy bar. While waiting for my food, The receptionist told me that I could not eat in the hotel as I had not paid and they had had problems before. I explained that I had ordered breakfast dinner and a paper when i arrived and hndeed over my credit card. As I had never stayed in the hotel before I asked what problems thaey had had with me before. Had it not been puring with rain I would have found some where else to eat but, eventually I was allowed to eat in the bar. the food was uninspiring as was breakfast.Coming down to breakfast in the morning I found the way to the htel from the annexe almost completely blocked by the hotels 4 large dustbins. I pointed this out to the reception and the manager, who was there, said he too had noticed this when he arrived. Tht he had done nothing about it sums up this hotel's attitude perfectly.Do not stay at this hotel.

This was a lovely wee hotel, not modern but the service was good, the food was good and the accommodation was clean. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

If you've ever had to look for a decent hotel for your money in Abedeen, you'll know how difficult it can be...But my 1st time in the Northern Hotel was very nice..Its fairly central with easy parking round the back of hotel, warm & comfortable room, & free wireless connection for emailing etc..Not the cheapest option but will definitely be back..oh, & breakfast was good aswell..

The hotel was nice enough and clean which is the main thing. My only problem was the decor of the room was very dated and at £95 for a very small single room i have stayed in far nicer hotels for a lot less money.

We were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite which was very tastefully kitted out. However this wasn't our first stay, and the normal double rooms are good as well. Friendly and helpful staff and good though not elaborate food made for an enjoyable experience.

Pretty ok.The room was ok, the staff very nice. Only downside: the noise from the road.
