Amazing hotel. Especially liked the local pretty boy, Daniel Smith. He had a fine pair of feet and I would recommend coming here to meet him at any given opportunity.

Norfolk HotelA real budget hotel for when you're absolutely skint and can't afford anything better. You can't really complain at £20 a night - it's bargain basement, and you get what you pay for. It's as clean as it can be, given how long ago it was last refurbished, and it's almost walking distance from the city, but don't expect a comfortable bed or any frills.

Since this hotel is inexpensive, I wasn't expecting much, but I didn't even get what I was expecting. The staff were either indifferent or outright rude. At one point when a lightbulb went out, I was expected to come down to the front lobby, pick up the light bulb, and change it myself. Really?! The advertised free wi-fi was unavailable my entire stay, with no other options given and no explanation of why or when it might be operational again. Also, the front staff could give me no information about local sites, bus routes or even whether there were nearby ATMs or restaurants. When asked, the staff were very impolite and rude about any questions asked about anything. My room, a single, was very small, the mattress extremely worn and the shower reminded me of those used in kennels for pet cleaning. The sink was unclean with the whisker remains of a previous guest's shaving. The trash can had not been emptied from the previous guest. The only good thing I can say is the lobby of the Waldorf is immaculate. I was very impressed with it, the restaurant and bar. Once past the lobby and restaurant, it's a completely delapidated mess. I've stayed in hostels that were nicer than this place and a better bargain for my money.

Undergoing renovation, but that didn't cause a problem. The real disappointment was that my "renovated" room (new bathroom suite) still had its old wallpaper (c 1960)! And the duvet cover looked grubby (probably wasn't, just a poor choice of colour/design).

Excellent rate including cooked breakfast. Room a bit musty but clean-but pillows flat and quite a little small!!!! On the night bus route to City so excellent location. And they let us park there in the day we checked out so we could get the bus into the City.

Avoid this hotelI regularly stay in hotels and have stayed in hotels in many countries. The Norfolk hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are dirty, old, and depressing. The corridors smelled aweful and even the toilet in the en-suite was leaking. It was so bad that I didn't stay for the second night that I had payed for and checked out early.

We were glad that it was for one night only. The bed was terrible - we could feel the springs through the rather cheap and nasty matress. The quilt cover was barely big enough for the bed. The television would not work until I realised that the aerial had fallen out because the plug was no nonger holding the cable effectively. The net curtains at the window looked cheap, sagged in the middle and were too short. The reception staff were excellent but, overall, the hotel created an impression of being rather sad and in need of some refurbishment.

The Room from Hell.Whilst the reception area and bar area have obviously been recently renovated/upgraded, room 52 where we "slept" certainly has not. The corridor and room were filthy and smelly, the wallpaper was hanging off the ceiling as was the paint off the walls in the bathroom. The shower was mouldy and dirty as was the sink and toilet. In fact, the bathroom was that bad that both myself and my partner refused to use it. The carpet was also a disgrace. I would strongly recommend that room 52 is not hired out again by the hotel until it has been redecorated and fumigated. We have taken photos should you wish to see them.

We paid £43 for a double room with full english breakfast. Roms are small and a bit tired, however at just £43 it was an exellent price

Quite basic, but improving, with unbeatable value. I have stayed at the Norfolk hotel several times. It is basic but brilliant value. I have noticed a steady improvement each time I return. We have booked the hotel toaccomodate and host some training for our staff.

Norfolk Hotel, BirminghamThe hotel had clearly spent a lot recently on doing up the reception area, bar and restaurant, with gleaming marble floor and pleasant wood fittings. this did not extend at all to the rooms, however. Mine had a very tired feel to it, with decor in great need of updating and small fittings such as drawer handles missing. The bed was rather lumpy and the room still smelt of smoke, presumably from the distant past, as the ban has been in operation for some time now. One can only hope that the rooms are due for refurbishment as phase 2 of the operation. Having said that, £30 for B&N these days is extremely reasonable. This will surely rise if the rooms are improved.

the hotel is clean and the breakfast was very substantial. the staff were helpful. however the heater in our room did not work properly and being as it was below freezing that night we actually shivered in our beds. reported it next morning and they said they would tell maintainance but if i had paid full price( £80 ) i would not have been content with this.
