The Schiller offers very nice clean rooms and its location is superb. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Our stay there was everything we could have wanted. We did not eat there, as too many other good choices existed nearby. The hotel is old, but had 2 lifts and modern bathrooms. The place is dated somewhat, but to us, that held much of its charm. The flat screen TVs and in-room stocked refrigerators and in-room safes were amenities that were definitely not dated. We would stay there again. The only negative stand out was the miserable grey striped carpeting in the rooms. It looks very economy. But the beds were comfortable and the bedding luxurious. Give it a try and we think you'll like it there.

Excellent location. Hotel retains beautiful character from the 1930's and 1940's, good restaurant. Across from Rembrandt Plaza and easy access to public transportation. Would stay here again.

Got a great room with view over Rembrandtplein. Staff was helpful, but not too friendly. Room and service were what I expected for what I paid for the stay. Location is great, literally steps away from the tram line, and cabs are always waiting outside. Coffeeshops all around area, as well as great restaurants. Breakfast was VERY overrated, but dinner was fantastic!

My big complaint is that someone was entering my room while I was out and taking items out of the mini bar and then charging them to my room, hoping I would not notice,I complained to the front desk and had all the false charges removed.this happened twice during my stay. The Schiller needs to clean house.I would not reccomend the hotel to anyone on account of this alone. In all other areas the hotel was good.

Very nice hotel, location is perfect, rooms are OK (we stayed in double at 6th floor, and there was a beautiful view to the roofs), if return to Amsterdam, i will choose it again

Lovely room - more of a junior suite. We had a little lounge on the top floor with a garret window overlooking the lively square - separate bedroom - separate bathroom.

Good location. Walking, restaurants, canals all nearby.Room was surprisingly large as was bathroom and very well-equipped. Beds very comfortable. Staff spoke English and was very helpful providing transportation info. We had just returned from 3 weeks in Italy where ALL breakfast buffets were included. When they told us about the breakfast buffet, we didn't ask. We had 3-4 slices of cheese, 3-4 slices of ham, coffee and 2 hard rolls. Cost: 32 euros! Will stay here again as location is very central and hotel was lovely. No A/C. Didn't need it in October.

Superior Double Room booked and confirmed 17 days prior to travel. On arrival found that the hotel was overbooked, no sup dble room available. Was offered smaller hotel across square, not acceptable as no double rooms there either. Eventually put in twin business room and offered change for the second night. Had also sent email 2 weeks prior to travel requesting quiet & non smoking accomodation also not available on arrival. Rooms extremely hot, no air conditioning. No food available after 10.00pm at night Room service stopped at that time. Generally very overpriced against quality. Very unfavourable against all other Europaen cities used. Amsterdam itself excellent. Would not book through this agency again unless full assurances of confirmed bookings were adhered to.

My wife and I stayed at the Schiller for our 15th anniversary. If you're looking for the exact opposite of a cookie-cutter hotel, this is it.The staff was helpful and friendly. We arrived on an early flight and were given a room immediately. The room's double doors let in lots of fresh air, and the hotel is convenient to everything. It can be a bit noisy on the square, but it didn't bother us.

Excellent location with lots of great bars, restaurants and cafes nearby. The tram stop is 50 metres across the square and trams 4 and 9 take you right into central station in minutes. If you walk it will take about 20 minutes. Comfortable clean rooms with usual facilities. Staff very helpful and pleasant bar and atmospheric entrance hall.

In a big night time hotspot, this hotel is in the center of the action. Views overlook a square with trees-beautiful! Ask for a room with opening dbl doors to balcony! Also-one of the biggest coffeeshops next door! We also where able to walk everywhere, and the train picks up outside the hotel but is quiet! We had the best vacation ever-good service at hotel! But if you like a quiet spot, this may not be for you. Party central with loud weekend events your thing? COME HERE!!!!!!

The breakfast buffet rate was Euro 22 which we thought was extremely expensive and so we chose to eat at a cafe nearby. The rooms were a little small although clean. Hotel in a good nightlife area with lots of restaurants and pubs.
