Reception and concierge (check - in / check-out, parking) services very poor, in need of serious improvement. Reception area is very busy and seems understaffed, hence extremely long waiting times. As for the parking, I had to wait for 25 minutes for my car to be brought back - way too long for a 47EUR / day parking service.

Just returned from a trip to Amsterdam. It was a special occasion, so we wanted to have nice accommodations for the 3 days we stayed there. We chose Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. It is a bit pricey. When I shopped around, the prices were generally in the range; however, I found an advance purchase at Travelocity at /night. It turned out to be a great bargain for this hotel, and it was worth every penny. First, the hotel's location can't be beat - it's right on the Dam Square, in the center of everything. Second, the room was huge compared to other European hotels we stayed at. Some reviewers said the rooms were a bit shabby, but our room was pretty clean and nice. Third, the amenities are excellent. You get a generous package of the usual bathroom stuff, and a choice of 4 kinds of pillows. Plus, if you need anything else, the staff is very attentive. For example, I could not find my electric adapter to charge my phone. One call to the front desk, and in 5 minutes I had a proper adapter. The concierge is very attentive and helpful. Several very nice dining establishments on the premises, including a picturesque winter garden. They are not cheap, though. A couple drawbacks. The shower system is very weird, and the shower hose gets in the way. Plus the water temperature was fluctuating which was annoying. Also, the bathroom itself looked a little dated, with green tiles straight from the 70s. Also, we had a problem with our AC, and the room was too warm (until we decided to open the windows). It was the weekend night, so the maintenance staff has already gone home. But these did not detract from the overall experience. Definitely recommend!

The bathroom was dirty, the room smelt bad, breakfast and prices are expensive. Therefore the location is perfect.

In terms of location, it can't be beat.....right in the center of Dam Square. (although its in a tourist section (think a classy marriot marquee in Times Square in NYC) The hotel is magnificant. Classy, beautiful, ornate. My room was exceptionally appointed: razors, shave cream, exfoliating pads, shoe shine, toothbrush, hairbrush, etc...the list goes on...terry cloth robes & slippers, inroom coffe & tea sevice...complementary use of inroom safe. Oh, & they even have 5 different pillow choices!!! I was totally impressed! The staff is wonderful. They even gave me a personal wakeup call with a knock on the door, to ensure I would make my flight. The conciers was very helpful.

Great hotel.Great location.Right on Dam Square and short walk to major attractions - red light area, ann frank house, main shopping street, lots of bars - ideal central location. Food in hotel is top notch. The Reflet restaurant is comparable to top London restaurants and cheaper.

We came to the Krasnapolsky to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. I was disappointed with our room, it had no view although it was quiet. It just did not give the impression of luxury, the price of the room did give the impression of luxury. The people on the door are exceptionally good at their job and have no difficulty speaking different languages. Our stay was made memorable because another guest in the hotel was kind enough to share his table at breakfast. I recommend that the hotel keeps tables specifically for paying guests, especially at breakfast. We had great difficulty finding a table at breakfast both mornings and the staff could not or would not help.

This hotel is located directly on DAM Square and is within a few short blocks to Magna Plaza, Kalvestraat Shopping Street, Red Light District, Madam Tussauds, Central Station, Canal Boats and a large compliment of pubs and restaurants. The lobby of the hotel is vintage 5 Star with a large uniformed staff, beautiful atrium eating area, lobby cafe and separate bar with a very nice almost exclusive atmosphere. The room was nice, good size and well apointed although we upgraded to an executive room. We will return again.

This was my first time in Amsterdam. The hotel was in an excellent location for me. I was traveling alone and the hotel made me feel safe and cared for. Thank you, Judi McCan

Excellent hotel - a true 5 star establishment. Overall, a great experience, only two small complaints I can think of: 1) The room we were given was obviously one of the smaller of the hotel, and a twin-bed, instead of a double (but only because they judged that we needed a king-size bed, and only had queen-size available; me and my girlfriend are quite tall). Still, it was very clean and well-arranged, and the mattresses of very good quality, so we didn't really mind. 2) When it was time to pay, the price was a bit different than the one quoted. This was explained as "city taxes", but after a bit of complaining, we finally payed only the quoted price.

Easy to find, in Dam Square, opposite the Royal Palace. Over 460 rooms in this huge 5-star hotel. Large reception and public spaces, very large rooms with tea/coffee making facilities, trouser press machine, safety deposit box. We had a great view of Dam Square from our window but our friends only had a view of the hotel wall from theirs. We booked three rooms and all three were different in size - one room's bathroom was three times the size of ours. This hotel is very spacious. It has it's own gym and a (free of charge for guests) internet room. The bar is very good and had a good atmosphere although the prices were very high. We didn't have the breakfast although it is apparently very nice but again expensive. This hotel is in a suberb location, right in the heart of the city and only 7 or 8 minutes walk from Centraal Station (up the street called Damrak). It is right in the middle of Dam Square and just behind the Red Light District (about 3 minutes walk). I would certainly recommend the Krasnapolsky. Please be aware that you must pay an additional 5 percent on top of the venere.com prices for 'tourist tax'. We did not know about this beforehand. This is the same for all hotels I understand.

The expectation and the reality haven't matched at all in this occasion. The hotel was supposed to be a 5stars, but... For istance, last time the hotel "Le Regina" in Varsavia, was perfectly correspondent to the expectation.
