Bait and switch tactics. Reserved large room but it was not available when I arrived. They would not do anything about it. Said they would try and call me in my room. No one ever did. Area very congested and looks nothing like the web site. It is NOT on the beach, but across a very busy high traffic roadway. Poor value.

The rooms are beautiful, but the staff is useless. Don't get suckered into the hipe!!!!

It might be a beautiful hotel but they are not accommodating. They forget to tell you they even though you stay in the suite only one spot per room. They did not tell me when I booked it first come first serve with the cots my five year old had to sleep on the floor. The manager of the hotel is not accommodating at all. Be aware if you stay at the hotel and you have a problem it turns into your problem. Might be beautiful but don't get suckered into that.

good views and nice room. Room was really clean and nice and the flat screen tv was nice too. its located right next to the beach, but its away from most of things in newport and downcity. if you have a car its not bad but without car its pretty bad. but if you are into beach more than downcity things, its very nice place to stay:) and off season price is very affordable!! im definitely coming back here this summer with my familly!

I booked this hotel largely due to its amenities, especially the advertised outdoor hot tub and fire pit. These were big positives for a one night get away in RI in April with my wife. Upon arrival, we were informed the indoor pool was closed, but we could use pool at a sister property 7 miles away. Then after checking in, we discovered the outdoor hot tub also was closed too. The room was beautiful, but the hotel was not in the main business area, so we were somewhat secluded without the amenities that would have made seclusion a positive experience. The hotel would not make monetary adjustment because we booked through Orbitz, and Orbitz was unable to resolve the issue despite 20 - 30 minutes on a 3-way phone call. Very disappointed.

Location. Cramped room. The room and bathroom are very nicely appointed. My particular room seemed very cramped, primarily because of the placement of the large dresser that held the monster television.

I dont understand why everyone who wrote below me is so disapointed, i thought it was great, unlike other hotels the bed sheet were white and cleaned, they offer comlementary movie renting, nice furniture, if uf u had seperate rooms you would get two televisions, and now in at newport beach hotel remodeled there historic hotel and i now opening a suites hotel which i plan on reseving a room for right when it opens :)

I've stayed here three separate times and always had an excellent experience. The rooms are ALL totally redone with taste and COMFORT in mind. The historic building has smaller rooms but ocean views in front side, the other building across the crosswalk has bigger rooms with same quality furnishings but bigger bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs. **** Very clean everywhere, and wonderful free breakfast includes many selections.

They have a jacuzzi and it was very nice. The hotel was recently renovated and all the old meshes well with the new. There's a hot tub and fire pit on the roof as well as chairs to laze about.

One hour and 55 minute check-in It took an hour and 55 minutes to check-in. We were sent up to a room 3 times only to find it not made up. Also, we booked with hotels.com for two nights and they only had us for one night. Regulation of water temp in shower reached dangerous levels. Awakened at 7:00 a.m. our last morning by hotel staff banging doors and talking loudly. This went on for an hour. Wrote to management and ceos and received nary a word of apology. One supervisor tried to appease us with a "buy one bottle of wine, get one free" coupon at a local winery. They also gave us a 10% off coupon to a rather sketchy restaurant that was not opened. Front desk was understaffed. I wrote to the management as well as the ceos of this outfit. Apparently they don't give a rat's behind about the satisfaction of their patrons. Nary a word of regret or apology for our inconveniences while there. Stay away! Far Away!

didnt expect much from the outside. but wow! once you see your room it is gorgeous. beautiful linen, big screen t.v. gorgeous bathrooms. i was very pleasantly suprised. would stay there again although the weekend rate is very high. and, it is not on the beach it is across the street.

Location and ocean view. Swimming pool wassmall and rooftop whirlpool wasclosed. A short drive from Newport this Hotel is located near the beach. Restaurants are located close by including Flo's Clam Shack and the Atlantic across the street. It is within walking distance to the Beach and located close to the Cliff Walk. We enjoyed the oversized whirlpool bath and the bed was comfortable.

It looks like a deal and it's not. The rooms are so small you can barely turn around. THe staff is rude rude rude! There is NO ONE to help you with your luggage, and when you ask for help, the receptionist tells you No, it's your responsibility. I was there alone with a young child and it was the worst. We had to leave. Pay for the Marriott. It's worth it. BTW, this hotel IS NOT on the beach. It's across a major 4-lane road from it and it's not really the safest place. You're far from the main town and there is no public transportation to help you get there. That means unless you drive, and there's NO PARKING in town, you're on foot.

No real complaints. The Room was a bit musty/smelly and not the very clean, but other than that it worked for what we wanted. Weekend rates are well overpriced. The location is great and the breakfast was decent. Staff seem nice enough. I would go back, but not at peak prices.

Ocean front suite they up graded us. When we checked in they didn't have any regular rooms left, so they upgrades us to an ocean front suite at no extra charge. Thank you, it was great and also a beautiful day 4/23.

This trip was not booked by neither my husband nor myself. The money we paid to stay here was outrageous compared to what we received in return. We thought it was a grand hotel in Newport directly on the beach. The floors were uneven, the room decor was tacky, the carpet and sofa were filthy, there were ants in our bathroom, some of the dresser drawers were broken. The staff was polite and friendly, the bed comfy with the down comforters. There was a restaurant - HOWEVER - it was not in operation. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

The hotel was conveniently located to the Cliff Walk and to the beach--a great location. Driving from the hotel to the Newport tourist attractions took only a few minutes. Our room had an ocean view. The staff was personable. The only drawback was the quality and the variety of food at the free continental breakfast.

The rooms were well decorated and far beyond usual hotel aesthetics. The hotel bar and restaurant were not open. Our stay at the Newport Inn and Suites was very pleasant. The rooms were tastefully decorated- although it was a small room the lack of horrible decor more than made up for it. The beach is just across the road and the close proximity of the cliff walk was a major plus. I recommend this hotel.

I would not stay at this Hotel again. My Husband and I have been going to Newport for years. We usually stay in town but decided to try something different. The website shows this Hotel on the beach, it is not the beach, the beach is across the street. The rooms were small and the bathroom was not big enough for one person let alone two. The only good things about this hotel was the bed and the bed linens. Very disappointed.
Date of Stay:
October, 2008
Freshness of decor, location, price. Desk clerk did not ask what type bed configuration we needed (2 female traveling together). Would recommend for anyone, especially off season due to location. All areas seemed pleasant and redone. Great deal for the money.
