All rooms are centrally heated and equipped with ensuite facilities, LCD colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer- our careful attention to those little details been a family run hotel ,award winning public house and King James 11 Restaurant,all food is prepared by Nigel (host) using fresh ingredients sourced mainly from Shropshire.We have a full disable room, and for the comfort of all our guest we operate a non smoking policy, but have a decking area fully covered for the smoker.we are in newport town and 30 secs from the canal, there is a hotel car park

coming north from M54 come off at J3 on to roundabout third exit on to the A41 to NEWPORT, enter into the main rd in newport half mile at the end on the right hand side. coming from MANCHESTER, LIVERPOOL, BLACKPOOL, GO ON TO THE A41 follow signs for NEWPORT turn left at sign, about mile done the road you come on to the hotel.coming SOUTH from SOUTH WALES, SHREWSBURY, WELSHPOOL, on the M54 come off at J4 first left on to the A464 follow the road to the A518 turn left to newport as you arrive on to the main road (high st) turn left half mile on the right hand side the hotel.

OK for an overnight stayThe best thing about this hotel was the friendly service. The block housing the rooms had recently been decorated, and the room was fine, although the bathroom was small with no window. The pub attached to the hotel is a traditional town pub and the bar staff and proprieters were very friendly and provided good service. The food served in the restaruant provided very generous portions, but the quality of the food was OK at best - definately a case of quantity over quality. Overall it made a pleasent overnight stay, and in terms of value for money, it was there or thereabouts.

Overall - good clean affordable accommodation with no frills. Positive - friendly staff, cleannegative - it is a linked to the pub - if you have groundfloor rooms - smokers standing outside the pub talking could be heard in the roomrecommendation - for breakfast - whilst generous portion - would have preferred option for continental - some toast and cereal.

Great little B&B in a lovely locationI was at a trade fair in Telford and decided not to stay in the centre of town (the hotel next to the exhibition centre looked a bit grim to say the least!) Newport is only 15 minute drive from Telford and it is like a different world! A lovely little Market town which was a vast improvement on Telford.The Newport Arms is a small B&B but the rooms were fine and had quite a nice charm about it. Room was clean, the bed was comfy and the shower/bath room was wonderful. . what more could you ask? Especially for the price.

Newport Arms - June '09Very pleased with the quality of the accommodation and location. Deserves to be attached to a better quality 'pub'. The reception area and the bar closest to our room was definately 'public bar' quality. The restauarnt / saloon bar was better - a shame it was not the one closer to our room as it would improve the overall impression.

This was an excellent guesthouse. I booked the wrong night initially, this was no problem to them and the landlady was happy to amend following a phonecall. On arrival all the staff in the pub were really friendly as well as the locals in the bar. The room was lovely; clean and tidy with a really powerful shower.The breakfast was gorgeous with vegetarians being catered for.the down side of this guesthouse was that we didn't see the rest of the town as we ended up spending most of our time here!

Delightful, small hotel - very welcoming - more "proper pub" than hotel, and all the better for precisely that reason. Rooms and food spot on, and excellent value for money. Family-owned and managed by a couple who - clearly - care passinately for their business and their guests. Would not hesitate to visit again or indeed to recommend to friends and colleagues.

The \"hotel\" is an addition to the Pub and has a few very small rooms overlooking the courtyard. This is extrememly noisy when people are leaving the bar as they tend to congregate there. Your Host and Hostess are very friendly and the rooms were super clean.No wireless internet was available, as previously advertised. Breakfast was included, but don't expect anything healthy. you have the choice of a full English breakfast - no menu was provided, although it was quaintly served in the Pub next to the roaring fireplace.Value for money was a little on the low side, considering this is Newport, Shropshire - not London.

Probably the best B+B I've stayed in. Room a little small, but perfectly adequate: clean and very comfortable. Enough breakfast to feed an army, and excellent quality. Staff helpful and friendly. We were delayed and arrived well past midnight, but there was someone waiting to welcome us. Pub looked nice, although we were too late to use it. Will stay there again when we return to the area in the summer.

The only drawback to my stay at at the Newport Arms Hotel was the size of the bedroom (room 7) as there was hardly any room to get either side of the single bed. I would stay again but I would book a double room. The breakfast was very impressive but I think it could be improved by offering cereals / yoghurt / fruit as alternative to a full Enlish.

My room was extremely small and right next to the main road so quite noisy. Very difficult to do any work in the confined space. Other rooms may be far nicer so this may be biased. The pub adjoining the hotel is a typical locals pub so you either like that sort of thing or not. Didn't try the evening meal but breakfast was very good. Newport itself is very pleasant.

The accommodation in this B&B was only renovated about 6 months and was excellent value for money as well as being spotlessly clean. The owners made us very welcome nothing was too much trouble for them. One of the biggest breakfasts I have ever eaten with good quality food. I plan to return when I'm in that neck of the woods again

All staff were extremely helpful and friendly, I was met by name as I approached the hotel (a real plus) and worries with my room were quickly and efficiently dealt with, BUT, there is no escaping the fact that this is a high street pub with rooms. Rooms newly and tastefully furnished but not luxury as advertised. Great choice of tv channels.

The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the outset. The rooms are furnished to a high standard. They are fairly small but more than adequate for our needs as a base (couple staying for a wedding in Newport on the weekend). The ensuite is fantastic and the room comes complete with a tv and tea and coffee making facilities. I would highly recommend staying here and if we are back in Newport in the near future would definitely rebook here.

Rooms newly furbished which was good, down side only about 8 foot from back of pub door so noisy in evenings from pub clientel, very claustraphobic, bad reception for mobile phones in room, tv reception poor, breakfast limited.
