Great Staff, very small room, but we expected it. Did get a nice view of Diamond Head. Very clean. On the quiet end of Waikiki, was easy in and out of town once you figured out the streets. Too far to walk for food, so definately need a car. Only issue was the louvered pocket door to the bathroom. Made privacy an issue. not sure why they used it, unless this room was designed for a single traveler (queen bed)

Excellent Location and Staff in a smaller hotel used by islanders and tourists in the know.

My husband and I have just spent 9 nights at this hotel. The food was fantastic the staff are very friendly and remember you, and what you like to drink or eat. We had a kitchenette which really was only a sink, coffee pot, hot kettle and toaster and microwave, but it did the job, we could relax first thing in the morning. There is a shop right there to buy the basics from. Room 306 is the best, 208 is noisy as it is above the coffee shop below. Great view of the park from our room and al little of the beach. Lovely beach not too crowded. The restuarant is right on the beach! Wonderful sunsets. Some rooms are small, but they are clean. Higlhly recommend this hotel.

The room was OK, but the hallway carpet was worn, and they offered an upgrade for another $50 per night. Nice fresh pineapple in the mini-frig for the first day. The restaurant was nice, though pricey, under the big "Hau tree". The hotel is a long walk from the main section of Waikiki. I doubt that this hotel has had any re-furbishing in a long time.

For an US hotel the room space was extremly small. Each and everything was billed additionally incl. parking on an open parking lot. On the positive side staff was friendly.

I was so disappointed in the accomodations that I would have booked another room at another hotel. Upon walking in the room we were met with formica countertops, old tube TV, very small bathroom with louvered sliding pocket doors. I complained to the front desk that this is not what was pictured online and he told me that I had booked a moderate room. He asked if I had a picture or anything from what I saw online. The valet attendant was asked to show us 2 other rooms and was very helpful. He told us that they had been renovating the rooms and which ones were newly furnished and had flat screen TV's. We went back and ended up getting put moved to a renovated room. The location is great! Away from Wakiki, but a great stroll through the park. San Souci beach is secluded and a very nice mix of people due to the W Hotel next door. Beware that the Wonder Bar is located in the W Hotel next door and is a popular venue for young people on Saturday nights. Parking is great as well. We did not use valet parking but parked in the metered parking across the street. Parking is free after 6pm . Definately check out the South Shore Grill up the street on Monserrat. Great fish tacos and sandwiches!

We just came back from staying here on our honeymoon and we were very happy with everything this hotel has to offer!! The location is great and is just far enough away from the hustle/bustle of Waikiki, but yet still close enough that you can walk to it as well! The open air restaurant is top notch and watching the sunset from your table while drinking mai tai's is priceless! The beach is very clean and you just walk right out of the hotel to enjoy it! We especially liked the location because you get all of the amenities that Waikiki has to offer and you are not nickeled and dimed to do so! We read all of the reviews and helpful hints for this hotel before we chose the hotel for our honeymoon. Trust us on this because everything that was in those reviews was true and then some! The rooms may be small, but don't let that stop you from staying here! The service is great, the rooms are very well kept and the concierge is very helpful! We will be staying here again on our next trip!!

This hotel is highly recommended for honeymooners or family looking for a quiet relaxing Hawaii vacation. The New Otani is the first hotel located on quiet side of Kapiolani Park (west side). It is an older hotel that has been remodeled, hotel is in good shape considering it takes abuse from salt air all year long. The staff keeps the rooms clean, beds are clean and comfy and air conditioning works great. We rented ?park view room? desk offered two options: Larger room approx 350sqft had sink and microwave and farther away from beach in a hotel addition (better for families), Smaller room was approx 200sqft, only had mini fridge but the view of the beach was fantastic (better for couples). We are used to smaller euro hotel rooms so we chose the smaller room with fantastic view. Because there are very few hotels around, the beach is not crowded and very clean, the evenings are quiet and the mornings are very peaceful. Hotel restaurant is Japanese and quite expensive. But every place to eat in Waikiki is expensive. The only real negative is you have to walk half mile to get to busy area of Waikiki and nearest ABC store. This hotel will work best for people who rent a car, (bring your own GPS, or rent one). Hotel parking is $/day or if you get lucky you can park for free at the park (read signs carefully). You can drive yourself to places like Pearl Harbor, Hanauma bay, Dole pineapple farm, and Polynesian center and save a lot of tour bus / taxi money.

We loved this place. We got a bottom price rate room, which gave us a partial view from the balcony of both the ocean and Diamond Head. It offered a less crowded yet very nice beach. We enjoyed the quarter mile walk through the park or along the beach to the crowded main restaurants and hotel areas. Waikiki has become so overcrowded, and this allowed us to be there with some sense of refuge and peace. I would, without question, stay at this hotel if I visit Waikiki again.

Two separate stays at this hotel over a week period. It is on the beach but outside of the high traffic area. Very quiet with excellent service and great food. Parking costs $18 per day but is worth it as spots on the street are hard to come by anywhere near the beach. Many weddng parties were seen but we did not see the facilities. Very easy access from airport. Absoultely no compliants. Best value for the money that I saw.

This hotel is on the Diamond Head end of Waikiki. This means away from the crowds but all available in an enjoyable 15 minute walk. Moderate priced rooms are small but I never spent anytime in the room other than to shower and sleep. Staff is very friendly. Sans Souci beach is far less crowded than other beaches. Very good snorkeling along the Natatorium wall.

We got to the hotel and they had up greated are room to an ocean veiw. The staff was friendly and always willing to help. Food was good and the view of the ocean and Waikiki at the restuarant wonderful. If you want quit and relaxed this is the place and only a short 10 min walk to Waikiki. Beach was not crowded and park is next door.

Staff was great, very helpful and nice. Hotel located about a 10 minute walk from the main Waikiki area through a nice park, which is great. No crowds, no noise. Rooms tiny, but we didn't spend much time in there anyway.

My wife and I stayed here for eight days in August, and can honestly say we will stay there again next time! The location on San Souci beach is the best...just a short walk from the crowds of Waikiki but far enough away to be much quieter. We slept with our upper floor balcony door open every night and noise was never a problem, just the sound of the ocean. There is a beautiful park adjacent to the hotel and the zoo is a short walk away. The staff is awesome...be sure to ask the bellman for snorkle equipment rental or just a straw mat for sunbathing....they have those things right there. I had to do some business faxing, etc. while there and the front desk staff was extremely helpful. Didn't eat in the restaurant, we weren't wild about the pink table cloths and big trees. There's a Starbucks two blocks away for your morning fix. I'm a realtor so on Sunday afternoon we went to the open houses in the Diamondhead neighborhood...you should do it if you love * million dollar beach houses like I do! This is not the ultimate luxury hotel, but for us the location was far more important than a big room. San Souci beach is great...my local Hawaiian friends prefer it to Waikiki crowds. Have fun!

The best part of this hotel was the fact that it was one of the lowest prices but it was right on the beach and right next to Kapiolani Park. The room was more than I expected with a kitchenette and more than ample space. The only thing that I had a problem with is that 2 double beds pushed together doesn't count as a queen! We asked for another room with a queen which they said was only available by request which online travel website didn't tell us when we chose queen bed. They moved us promptly to a new room the next day that had two doubles pushed together again but with a queen headboard; WOW! The view was better though so we left it at that; besides we didn't go to Hawaii to sit in our room. The flight and hotel arrangements went smooth though besides the room situation. Would recommend this hotel because it is on the beach and it isn't as crowded as the other hotels on the beach which are in downtown Waikiki. The hotel is also about a 5 minute walk from the zoo and the aquarium and only about 8-10 min from downtown Waikik and you can walk right along the beach or through the park so it is a pleasurable walk. Oh and hotel service was very friendly and quick. Restaurants in the hotel are really expensive though; even for Waikiki.

"Stayed for 8 nights in the Diamond Head Wing Park View Studio three story ""walk up"". If you have heavy luggage you'll have to drag it up the steps. Kitchenette appliances were old. Shower curtains were of old vinyl/plastic that gave off a stench similar to BO. Awoke one morning and found a live cockroach in the bathtub with droppings. There were two more roach sightings throughout our stay. Valet parking is $15/day, but there are free street parking spots around the neighborhood. Beach location was fantastic! Busy Waikiki is about a 15 minute walk along Kapiolani Park."

I think for the money and the location of this hotel on the Beach. It was a great experience. Kind of hard to get to and the parking was not so good. Over priced Valet parking was ok. Mainly it was a nice place to stay and had some nice small stores around it. THe Park accross the street was nice too and very close to Diamoand Head and the Downtown area. I rented a car so getting around was not a problem for me . I could see problems if you do not have a car . Bus Service was availibe I think the City Bus was Two dollars a ride. THe Restaurant had a very limited menu and kinda pricy ,but not bad , food was good ,but no mama's home cooking by any means and no breakfast worth talking about. Free coffee was about the only thing this hotel gave away and it was like on a time schedule . If you don't get a cup in their time frame u did without. I never spent much time at this hotel because I was always on the go. So I was pleased to stay here and restaurants near by were good. Many places to shop and I was fortunate enough to be there during Aloha Festival .I would recommend this hotel to any one if you don't mind doing things on your own ALso the Bar was sorta mediaoaker, but nice. Price of drinks were high and no happy hour. I enjoyed my Stay in Hawaii i was there seven days . Hotel Was Good for my needs and I will go back again. . The Staff met every need that I had but i never asked for much except maybe a Map of the city.
