I stayed in New Otani with my family this Chinese New Year. Excellent Japanese traditional garden, teppanyaki, assorted choices of restaurants, excellent service and most important: GREAT breakfast buffet! Too great to miss it!

This hotel has it all, starting with the venue, the gardens the museum, the restaurants and most of all, the staff. The hotel has to be one of the best, if not the best, in Tokyo.

From the moment I stepped into the hotel until the morning I checked out I was treated with the most absolute care. The staff always greeted me with a smile and were ready to answer any questions I had. The rooms were always clean and comfortable with a newspaper waiting at my door in the morning. The location is fabulous! The Akasaka-Mitsuke station is a block away and with 5 lines servicing that station, so you can travel to almost any part of Tokyo in no time. The Japanese Tea Garden was amazing and a must see while you are there! The koi were so big! The restaurants inside the hotel are also very nice, but extremely overpriced. If you have 30 to splurge on a breakfast buffet, then by all means, go for it. I do have to admit, its a pretty nice spread. There are plenty of restaurants nearby the hotel that are just as good without the expensive price tag. When I return to Tokyo, I will definitely stay this hotel again!

This is a world class business hotel that is a perfect place for a first time visit to Japan. The staff were friendly and courteous. Importantly they also spoke English and were well accustomed to helping foreigners in the hotel and around the city. The hotel is actually built with the first several levels as a shopping plaza. The restaurants in the hotel were excellent but pricey. I still recommend eating at them at least once. Eateries in the shopping area were less expensive but also could charge food to the room. There was also an Am/Pm store that sold many preprepared Japanese foods. The rooms came with hot water pots that let you make tea or noodles. This was convenient when jet lag set in or I wanted to save a few yen. The hotel is built on absolutely beautiful grounds and must been seen. Although in a bustling city the hotel it self is an island of calm. The bar is also a must see. On the 40th floor it provided a late meal and a stunning view of the city. It over looks Tokyo tower and the city is a sight at night. The neighborhood is near a college. During the day there were many coffee shops with staff that spoke great English and could understand my fractured Japanese. At night near by there are a great number of bars,clubs and karaoke clubs. During the week things wind down around 1am. The rooms were comfortable, clean and safe at all times. I can not think of any way to improve the room experience. The excellence of the staff at all levels can not be stressed enough. This hotel may cost more than others but the service they made my vacation much more enjoyable.

We didn't like the fact that the restaurants had very specific hours not just open all the time, like The Sky. Your staff was excellent and very helpful! There wasn't a person there that wasn't the most kind and helpful all the time. We will return because of this. Thank you.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel New Otani. The garden is a wonderful sight. Our hotel view displayed the city skyline beautifully. The mornings were relaxing as we planned our days to tackle the Tokyo town. Although the restaurants in New Otani are expensive, the quality is there. We went back to the breakfast buffet several times as the view of the garden was wonderful to wake up to in the Japan mornings. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good. Once you conquer the Tokyo subway (and Toei lines) then you can easily find a safe passage back to the hotel.

The hotel was right in the center of Tokyo, easily accessible transportation and location near sight seeing places. The hotel staff was amazing and the hotel itself was impressive. You have to take some time to walk through the hotel garden, swim in the pool, and set some money asside to eat at the wonderful garden side restaraunts. The staff was very helpful in helping us to navigate the city and get us to where we wanted to go. It was an amazing place to stay and I would do it again any visit to Japan!

Got a great deal on orbitz for this hotel. Would not have been our first choice BUT we were very impressed with the staff. Everyone went above and beyond to help us. Easy for foreigners who can't speak alot of Japanese. We had a wonderful time.

I was on a business trip to Tokyo and stayed at the New Otani Hotel. The staff was always pleasent and helpful. Rooms were nice - mine offered a view of Tokyo Tower. Location was very good. Subway a short walk away and plenty of resturants just beyond that. I was a little disapointed in the bars within the hotel itself, but with so many nearby it is not really an issue.

Great business / executive hotel. Frequented by heads of state, senior executives. Good selection of restaurants, fantastic teppanyaki steakhouse in the gardens; however in the basement there is a great yakitori restaurant at an attractive price. Walking distance from Akasaka-Mitsuke station. Akasaka area has many 'interesting' establishments, perfect for an evening stroll.

first-rate hotel, in central location in Tokyo, near several subway stations, has a wonderful garden. the pool was very attractive but cost extra to use. the staff were very helpful. the breakfast buffet was wonderful, somewhat expensive $17.

Great hotel in a great location. The restaurants are very expensive so I would suggest traveling into town to eat.. you can walk a few minutes and find many great local places that cost 1/3 of the hotel price. The rooms are much larger then normal rooms in tokyo.

"Stayed for a week, very nice. Tons of amenities and features. Subway 5 minutes away. DOZENS of places to eat (from $10 to $1000 a head), over 100 shops, etc. plus entertainment 5 minutes away. If you want a ?safe bet? ? just stay here, you will not regret it. While you will be fine in jeans and a T-shirt coming and going, this is obviously a hi-end facility, bring some nice cloths for the better restaurants. I would not hesitate to stay here again ? way cheaper than it should be."

Hotel was extremely nice. THe one unfortunate part about the hotel is that entering the swimming pool costs an additional 1500 yen a person and is only opened seasonaly. Everything was excellent.

"We reserved a standard room in the Tower and when we checked in we found out the only non-smoking rooms available had twin beds. Beware- they do not reserve rooms by bed or smoking preference, just class. We upgraded to a deluxe room in the main building and were very happy with our room. It was spacious, well-appointed and quiet (despite the fact that they were remodeling on the same floor!). This hotel is centrally located and the service was superb! I would definately stay there again."

This is not a bad hotel, by any means. My stay was comfortable and pleasant enough. I have no major complaints. However, it was also not an exceptional experience, either. Let's start with the positives. The big highlight is the authentic Japanese Garden located behind the facility. New Otani also has good proximity to a central subway station (Asakusa-Mitsuke, connect easily to Ginza and Manouchi lines), a good restaurant/bar district, as well as reasonable proximity to a Citibank ATM station (important for withdrawing on a foreign debit card). My room in particular - though smallish and slightly under-equipped with amenities - had a very nice view. My main issue with the Hotel Otani is that it seems specifically catered to rich, older, Japanese clientele. Almost every service is expensive and every dining option was impractically expensive. $10 (1000+ yen) for the laundering of a single piece of clothing, $45+(4500+ yen) for lunches or dinner. You can walk down the street and get a beef rice curry dish for under 1000yen at the British-style pub, walk a little further and get a tasty 1800yen "maguro" sushi-type bowl, or go to the West Park Cafe for a decent 2000yen brunch/lunch. Moreover, the nearby shops are very much "blue blood" style shops... not somewhere you would go for tourism shopping or even practical shopping. Save tourist shopping for the Asakusa temple district. Summarizing this point, while at the New Otani, I felt very much out of place being an often casually-dressed foreigner who spent most of his day trekking around and exploring the city, sometimes in poor weather. The staff is exceptionally kind and friendly. Check-in, Check-out, and a few minor requests (ironing board, band-aids) were handled efficiently. Just note that - as an English traveler - only a few staff speak English, and only on a limited basis. Since my Japanese is very paltry, I would have probably done better to lodge at a "Western" hotel, in retrospect. In terms of amenities, the
