One night stop in Newcastle. My daughter and I had a twin room, which was clean and comfortable, with a good ensuite bathroom, including bath, with plenty of very hot water. The lift was very small, and would not accommodate a wheelchair, (which i didn't bring on this occasion, but might be looking for another time), but I didn't ask if they had downstair bedrooms. Breakfast was nicely cooked, and prepared very quickly. Staff helpfully provided maps, as we were searching for flats in the area.

weekend break at hotelStaff very friendly and helpful. Room spacious and en suite also. Carparking at rear of hotel, which seemed reasonably safe. Breakfast nicely cooked and ample variety, and serving staff particularly pleasant. Bar and outdoor seating in front terrace areas very popular. We would happily book this hotel again.

Appalling customer serviceI am only writing this reveiw as I have experienced the worst customner service in my life time at this hotel. Our room was baking hot when we arrived so we asked for a fan. The hotel stated they had lots and would place one in our room immediatley. We returned late to find no fan and had the misfortune of a very unconfortable nights stay. The catolugue of excuses was horrific the next day and we were not offered a refund as I would have expected but I have returned to London to find I have been charged twice on my credit card for the room!

Pleasant hotel with an individual characterThe hotel is in a busy area where lots ofpeople seem to come at night to socialise. I liked the buzz and atmosphere around the place but it never got too noisy. We had a lovely meal on our first night in Louis' Restaurant and on Sunday they do a special dinner offer. The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Its a bit of a maze to find your way around since it looks like the hotel is several houses joined together with extensions added later. Signage to the rooms was not particularly helpful and it took us a few attempts to get the hang of the way in and out.Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very pleasant. The only slight glitch was when the fire alarm went off on our first night at 2am. We all evacuated the building and 10 minutes later were allowed back in. No fire engine had been and there was no sign of a fireman. We were not given any explanation either - but I still went back to bed when I got the chance!

We'll be backMy wife and I travelled to Newcastle for one night. We booked the New Northumbria hotel through LateRooms, having read reviews on the website. The hotel is well situated, on a lively road, within walking distance of the Metro. Our room was at the back of the hotel, as requested, so it was always going to be quiet. It was a lovely, clean, well laid out room with all of the facilities required, including a well stocked mini bar. The reception staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had a good breakfast, which was served very efficiently, in the hotel restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in Newcastle and would like to return to see more of the city. When we do, we hope that the New Northumbria hotel have some rooms available because we want to stay there again.

Stay at Northumbria HotelWe stayed here for one night for the third time, when we collected our son from university in Newcastle. A nice hotel in a nice district just outside the centre of town. Very pleasant welcome, good sized room, clean and tidy. Slept well in a comfortable bed and had a nice breakfast. Would recommend this hotel.

Excellent HotelThis hotel is right in the heart of where all the action is although you wouldnt know it when you are inside. The room we were in was massive - very impressed as this was a birthday treat. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in jesmond for the weekend - it fits the bill. thanks

Noisy and hotThe room was big but it was just wasted space. It felt a bit grubby and was very hot. I opened one of the windows - the other one wouldn't open - which was very noisy. The initial reception staff were not helpful - however the night porter and the bar attendant were great.Useful tip - if you arrive too late for dinner, try the all night bakery around the corner. The pasties are good!

highly recommended, you will love this placeonce again late rooms helped me in finding this great deal. This was very nice accomodation in all respects. Rooms were well in keeping with the description and pictures. It has nice parking on the rear of hotel. The hotel reception has a separate entrance so it makes the hotel very calm and quiet place for resting and leisure. The outside street is a bit noisy but the hotel is designed in such a way the rooms are not affected by it. Very good staff.

Not what I expectedThe hotel needs redecorating and definately a refurb. My room was supposed to be a supererior room but the furniture was old and scratched, I didnt realy want to walk on the carpet in bare feet and the room was very small. The sink was cracked and needs replacing. I could have got the Holiday Inn for the same price. I know where I will be staying on my next visit and it won't be the New Northumbria!

Overnight business stayHad room at back so very quiet. Well equipped room etc. Stay let down by poor quality breakfast. Is it really that difficult to make a pot of tea ! + a decent size table would help.

Earplugs essential!Hotel convenient for Metro and local shops. Reception staff helpful. Traffic noise unavoidable for rooms at the front but the main problem is noise from customers drinking outside. Poor soundproofing within the hotel. Decor dated and shabby although hotel is clean. Breakfast average. Overall wouldn't consider this 3* accommodation.

I stayed here twice on business over two separate weeks - therefore experienced 2 different rooms. New Northumbria is perfectly adequate and priced about right - the 60s psychedelic carpet on first floor landing should be listed! First room (117) at front, bit noisy, a bit shabby, good TV, radiators adjustable. Second one (304) much nicer decor, TV not so good and heaters harder to adjust. Both very clean. Breakfasts excellent (very speedy and good brown toast - always a key indicator) - wide choice.

The hotel itself was good. Great customer service and decor great. The rooms were a little too hot though and also the when running a bath or having a shower the water smelt milldewy. But overall a nice hotel. Maybe a little too expensive for what it is though.

This hotel was fantastic couldn't have done any more to make our stay better. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends. The restaurant Scalinis is also well worth a try and excellent value for money.
