Madiera is great!I thought the hotel was fab - we paid £45 for two of us (for the room), and that was reasonable for the accommodation we got. The room and bathroom were very clean, the staff were friendly and characters, the facilities were good. It's even got a club, but we stayed on a Sunday so didn't get to sample it!

Not Nice !Cracked tiles, loose doorhandles and dirty feeling. The room was small and in serious need of decorating. Window didn't lock as clasp was broken .

Our room was newly refurbished, fresh paint and spotless carpet. Very clean and comfortable :) Only complaint is that the shower wasn't very powerful.Unfortunately we did not have a view of the sea from our window , it looked out onto some dull buildings and brick walls :( There is limited parking for guests outside the hotel and charged at #10 per night. Parking in the streets is pay and display (about #1.50 per hour) that is if you can find a space! The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and gave us some information about what to do and see and also a map of Brighton. The location of the hotel is excellent (immediately opposite Brighton Pier). We paid #55 for the one night which did not include breakfast (abit disappointing). But on the whole this was a nice place to stay.

Our stay at The New Madeira HotelWhen we booked the hotel we were not expecting much as it was one of the cheapest available on Late Rooms. Upon arrival we went in to the reception which looked nice and also saw the bar / dining area. We were told that checkin was at 2pm rather than the 1pm time provided on our booking confirmation so we returned around 2pm. The room looked newly decorated, we could either smell the fresh paint or the new carpet. Everything was very clean. The room furniture (desk / wardrobe) was a bit dated but still adiquate and did us fine. We had booked a double room but the room actually had two single beds pushed together which was slightly annoying, but again for the money paid (£55 per night) we were happy enough. The towells were changed every day and folded nicely, the bed was made and refreshments re-stocked. We didnt use the bar or dining area so cannot comment there, but as a place to stay I would be very happy to return for these prices. Would reccomend for a pleasent and budget get away!! :)

Stifling!Avoid room 315 when the weather's hot; it's at the top of the building, under a flat roof which just soaks up heat. The basic rooms are just that - basic. They are just about at the acceptable end of the shabbiness scale, but expect stains on the bathroom ceiling, peeling paint and chipped enamel in the bath. The lift only takes one person plus luggage, and the stairs are steep.Staff are helpful and polite.

Cheap, and it shows...I stayed here because I just needed somewhere cheap to stop over for the night.Room was tiny ( which doesn't really matter ). TV was also miniscule and not tuned on properly.Shower was awful. One of those tap operated ones that was either too hot or too cold. Bed was the softest thing I have ever laid on ( which is bad ).Some rooms were being re-furbed so there were tool boxes and dust sheets all over the place. Stairs up to room were very thin and claustrophobic. Room next to lift so constant noise of machinery till the early hours.I won't stay there again...

Perfect for my needsI wanted a good value hotel in the centre of Brighton for a one night stay after completing the London to Brighton Bike Ride. I picked the New Madiera because of the price and location and was very happy with my choice. My room was basic, but clean and tidy with a good en-suite bathroom. The staff were lovely and very welcoming and were happy for us to store our bikes in the foyer of the night club, (which was closed), so they were not left out on the street. The breakfast was lovely, served in the front of the hotel with a sea view. Absolutely perfect for my needs.

ah well big room!big room very small tv! ok view but hotels are for sleeping in,what with noise and vibration from the traffic, people outside the hotel making more noise than nessesery, sleep was not always an option!double glazing would help!

New Maderia Hotel was perfect for us...we arrived at the hotel at 3pm, we were then checked in and given our room key the receptionist was nice. we went to our room and were suprised at how clean and well maintained it was. the room was a good size, with a double bed with white bedding, we had a T.V and a kettle with a selection of teas coffes and even hot chocolate! ... the bathroom, had pleanty of towels and was spotless, the shower was very poweful. we then walked into brighton town center which took us no more than five minutes ... we went for a meal, and then drinks.. we then headed back to the hotel ...where we had to step over people on the front steps because they were all smoking , this wasnt very nice, they should have a smoking area! But apart from that it was perfect! ... the bed was comfy :) ...if you decide to stay here i deffinatly recommend to get a sea view!

New MadeiraVery friendly hotel. Staff were welcoming and accommodating on arrival and throughout our stay. Parking is a bit of an issue, but this is true throughout Brighton. The location is excellent and the Funky Fish Club on the Ground Floor is a real added bonus. Breakfast was OK and reasonable value. The rooms were fine and very good value - the bed was very comfortable.A friendly hotel wich isn't too big but has lots to offer.

Incredibly good value & serviceMy one night stay very enjoyable. The staff at New Madeira were very friendly and helpful from the time I pulled up, with advice about where to park and they were all very pleasant.Very good size room and bathroom, very clean & comfortable. There was a little music noise from elsewhere in the hotel, perhaps a bar or club, later in the evening but nothing too bad. Not much other noise from corridors etc.Breakfast service was good despite staff issues they were experiencing that morning and the breakfast itself was good.Exceptional value for the quality of this hotel and location is excellent.

Great location, poor qualityThe hotel was in a good location and check in was all fine. In the room (which was probably the only one left in the hotel), the walls were dirty and marked which was off-putting. The small tv wasn't working - the ariel wasn't wired right or something. Bathroom seemed to be clean and bed was comfy. fine for an overnight stop - just somewhere to lay your head but it certainly didn't feel like 4 star accommodation and I don't think I would want to stay longer than 1 night.

A friendly and comfortable hotel. This hotel is in an excellent position facing the seafront and Brighton pier. Its very close to all the restaurants and bars. Although our room wasn't huge and the view was of a wall it was clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom. I think the sea-view room or boutique rooms with a balcony would be lovely! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, giving us directions, offering us a late checkout and storing our bags on the last day. I would recommend it!

Me and a couple of friends stayed here last week as we were going out for the night in Brighton. The staff were friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for us The hotel isnt as great as the listing but not bad and you get what you pay for. It is clean and comfortable. This hotel is perfect if your going out in brighton or are not going there to relax as it is mainly filled with youngsters going out and drinking etc..
