ParkingWe had requested a parking space and were told on arrival that parking was in a municipal parking garage. There was no interest or adequate help in locating said garage. A typical french reaction, a shrug of the shoulders!

This hotel was everything I had hoped it would be. I wanted a hotel away from the touristy areas and wanted to stay in a neighborhood where I could meet and enjoy the local people and places, but still be close to the metro. This hotel was perfect. Only one block from the bus/metro which took you everywhere you wanted to go in Paris in just minutes. The room was very comfortable and clean. The continential breakfast was very good and plentiful. It included meats, cheeses, yogurt, cerial, breads, juices, coffee and tea. The hotel rates were very reasonable and the breakfast saved us a lot of money. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and most spoke english. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definately stay again, and hope too. I would like to thank everyone for making us feel so welcome and making it feel like home.

We stayed for just 1 night while passing through Paris on our way south. Very easy location to get to-- 1 block from the Voltaire Metro stop, a bus stop and a taxi stand. We had a triple room and it was fine for 3. Not big, but comfy. NIce big bathroom with wonderful hot shower. Cold Breakfast was included in the price (nice surprize!) and was very substantial with cereals, yogurt, pastries, meats, cheeses and many drinks to choose from. The hotel is only one block from Pere Lachaise Cemetary so we spent the morning walking the beautiful, quiet grounds there looking at all of the famous grave sites. We had been on a 5 week study abroad in South Africa so we had too much cold weather luggage. We consolidated our bags & the staff was VERY kind and held our bags until we came back through Paris a week later! I would definately stay here again.

It deserves a fourth star.

Given that I was traveling with a group, I didn't get to choose the hotel. Also, given that each person was on a tight budget, the hotel chosen was based on affordability above all else, location second. I hadn't been to the Hotel Candide before, but it was perfect for our trip. A group of 30year olds in Paris for a spontaneous weekend getaway -- couldn't have asked for a more friendly hotel. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The rooms were small, as is normal in Paris, and though clean, they weren't impressive in any decorative way. (I have previously stayed at the Hotel Lutecia, and my rooms were no larger there.) For a brief, fun weekend, this was a great place. All said, this hotel was a deal, and I would certainly stay there again!

The hotel was very easy to find - only 15 minutes away from Gare du Nord station if you are coming in on the Eurostar. The nearest Metro to the hotel was Voltaire, the hotel is literally 2 minutes away. The staff were very friendly and checked us in quickly. The room was of a good standard with a well stocked mini bar (even chocolate!) The reception was open 24 hours which is useful as the main road (Boulevard Voltaire) has some nice bars. Just around the corner from the hotel there was an HSBC bank so it is was ideally located. Overall a well presented hotel that was great value for money if you are on a budget, we would definitely stay there again.

Not far from Bastille the hotel was great in almost every respect. The receptionist, only member of staff I saw, could not have been more polite or helpful. My only complaint was it was rather noisy in the street outside at night.

This is a well run hotel and it's inexpensive- also well located (2 mins Voltaire Metro / 10 mins walk to Bastille and about 20 mins by Metro to Gare Du Nord) The hotel is located in a quiet side street, bit of an oasis in a busy mixed suburb. The staff are genuinely pleasant, helpful and interested in offering a quality service. The rooms are quite adequate, not massive, on a par with a good UK Premier Travel Inn, bath and minibar- no kettle though. The continental breakfast is fine and self served with a smile too. I felt we made a good choice and would stay there again.

Good location near the bastille, good for young people, who want to be near clubs and resturants.....The room was clean but dated. Same for the bathroom. But good hotel facilities and a sustantial breakfast.
