Hotel roomIt was very warm in the room as there was no air conditioning. I left the window open and I was woken up at 3 am but a man outside who was drunk and shouting and swearing as loud as he could.

A ery good 3 star hotel, close to 4 star.

We had a very good experience at this hotel and were delighted with the helpfulness and attitude of the staff particularly the reception team. The room was surprisingly big for a 3* and had an excellent bathroom. We stayed on what was probably the hottest two nights of the year so far and the only down side was the lack of Air - Con however the staff went out of their way to provide us with a fan to help on this. We would definitely use this value for money hotel again and is well within walking distance of all the main areas such as the Hoe and Barbican.

Trying hard but....Big rambling hotel close to the city centre and Hoe, new reception area and bar -but terribly hot and stuffy rooms and corridors. Noisy location.Food and customer service good, but a quite depressing experience overall .First try of a large private hotel on business for a while - think I will stick to the chains in future !

Nice old hotel, slightly dated but functionalStaff, in the main were very helpful, just the odd exception - but I guess eveyone has a bad day now and then. I was somewhat taken aback at having to pay £2.00 per day to park my car in the hotel car park and also the fact that WiFi was not free, most hotels don't try to make a few extra pounds this way these days.Room was adequate (it's an old hotel so expect things to look a bit dated), good shower and comfortable bed.We had a a party of 7 and took our evening meals there, food was good and restaurant service very good. The swimming pool is not quite as grandiose as implied on the hotel's website (wide angle lens used there methinks) but is quite adequate as it obviously has been added to the existing building. Gym has all necessary machines and serves its purpose well. All in all we would have no qualms staying there again but it is not so good that we wouldn't perhaps give other hotels a try.

RoomsThe first twin room we had was extremely hot, small and had a brick wall immediately outside the window. Having asked to be moved, we were given an excellent room. The staff were very helpful and polite. If I booked again, I would ask for an assurance about the room as obviously there are a few you would not want to be allocated.

The room had been refurbished and was of acceptable quality generally, but did seem to have some 'biters' which left me with itchy lumps on my body, mainly my legs, the next day

Not bad!Clearly undergoing some refurbishment, but nonetheless, a reasonable city hotel. Not quite sure what it wants to be as a hotel. Ideally situated for the city. Didn't quite have a spark for me. Maybe I caught it on an off day?

Everything you could expect for a 3 star hotel and more.Leisure facilities were of a good standard, it was lovely to have use of the pool etc when you wanted it. Iced water was available at all times in the leisure complex. The breakfast was of a very good standard and all the staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

value for moneywhen we arrived at the carpark at the rear of the hotel we thought it looked a little tired, and hoped the room would be ok! we were so suprised when we entered the hotel and found it had been refurbished to a high standard,it had a cosmopolitan feel to the reception and bar area. we didnt have dinner at the hotel as we were heading off to the barbican for the evening, however breakfast was excellent. our room had been updated recently and the bathroom was large and light.with a new wood floor.the staff were friendly and helpfull.

I can see what they are trying to do but...I stayed at this hotel for a night in the middle of april 2009. Overall, you can see they are trying to update it but their budget leaves alot to be desired. The breakfast was also very substandard. The hotel looks a bit forlorn from the outisde but I was surprised by the clean contemporary reception. The receptionist was polite and friendly and directed me to a room on the first floor. When I got to the first floor the contemporary lines had gone, replaced by dated carpet and squeaky floors. My room was quite a walk from the lifts and while walking along the corridor, I had to go down one flight of stairs and up another before I got to my room. In terms of accessibility this is quite an issue, but It didnt directly affect me.The room was clean and tidy. They had obviously made an attemopt to refurbish the room but I was disappointed with the finishing. While the bathroom was new and clean, there was cheap laminate on the floors and plastic panelling on the walls. It had the look of attempting hotel chic but failing to achieve it on their budget. The bedroom was again fine but I didnt think it was finished to the best quality. My window was open when I arrived but the room was still boiling. I had a view over airconditioning units and vents,l although I had no access to a/c in my room.In the morning I was really disappointed with my breakfast. I sat down and was provided with coffee and toast. Then 15 minutes later was asked if I wanted anything else. I rodered the english breakfast and it was provided within 5 minutes. Everything on the plate but felt rubbery. it left me with the impression that the food had been plated and heated until needed. I was very disappointed. I have further business in the area but I won't be using this hotel again.

New ContinentalUnder hotel informtion it states that 99 rooms have been refurbished. I assumed mine was one of those 99 rooms. It wasn't a big deal though as the hotel served its purposes... a clean / safe place to sleep while away on business

Friendly hotelNeeded a last minute overnight stop in Plymouth and plumped for this hotel as it sounded a bit more interesting than the usual corporate identikit chains. The staff were very welcoming, the room excellent and they even have a health club guest can use - not terribly up-to the-minute it has to be said but a swim before breakfast is more than you'll get in a Premier Inn for the same price. Breakfast was good and there was very cheap 24 hour parking, right in the city centre. Would definitely stay again.

The bathroom was a bit smelly, like a old urine smell that they couldn't get rid of. Some of the parts of the leisure complex were very tired and dirty and very mouldy. The breakfast is very lack lustre. Not very keen on being served by someone with a great big lip piercing either.

An excellent location for the Pavillions - which is where we needed to be. Hotel is mid -refurb at the moment - so public areas are a mix of old and tatty and new. Room was ok for one night and bed comfortable. Breakfast was fine and some \"on request\" items were available and cooked to order. Did not use Health club so cannot comment. I think it will be nice when it's finished, but the price will undoubtedly go up.

Very helpful and pleasant reception and restaurant staff, but unable to settle my bill by credit card as the chip/pin machine had 'died', leaving me with no other option than to draw cash from a cashpoint. (Therefore losing my Tesco points). Room was adequate, but extremely warm and dry. Opening windows wasn't an option as the hotel is in a very busy part of Plymouth (both for nightlife and for traffic). Breakfast was OK, but microwaved beans drying quickly on the side of a red-hot plate were not really up to the standards expected. Hotel is currently being refurbished, and as I only stayed 1 night, I didn't utilise all that the hotel had to offer, so I am unqualified to pass comment on the Hotel facilities.

The hotel room I was give 303, was very noisy at it was facing the main road. The swimming pool didn't look very clean or appealing and I was disappointed with it and therefore didn't use it.
