Very clean with up-to-date rooms, which are slightly small but adequate for 3 star. All facilities within the rooms work well. Friendly welcome and interesting location with good cafes and shops nearby, though otherwise a slight bit off the beaten track. I enjoyed staying here and would willingly return again. Great breakfast.

I found this so called hotel to be the worst on my recent trip around Europe.. I would class it nearer a 1 star ..they need to update the interior not just the exterior and reception..Overpriced and I didnt get the things mentioned ie tea and coffee making nor car parking ..the breakfast had stale bread rolls mixed with fresh all in all a place to avoid

We stayed for just 1 night while passing through Paris on our way south. Very easy location to get to-- 1 block from the Voltaire Metro stop, a bus stop and a taxi stand. We had a triple room and it was fine for 3. Not big, but comfy. NIce big bathroom with wonderful hot shower. Cold Breakfast was included in the price (nice surprize!) and was very substantial with cereals, yogurt, pastries, meats, cheeses and many drinks to choose from. The hotel is only one block from Pere Lachaise Cemetary so we spent the morning walking the beautiful, quiet grounds there looking at all of the famous grave sites. We had been on a 5 week study abroad in South Africa so we had too much cold weather luggage. We consolidated our bags & the staff was VERY kind and held our bags until we came back through Paris a week later! I would definately stay here again.

Everything was as advertised and we were very happy overall. The only service that was not provided as stated was the tea/coffee making facility. I did ask at reception upon our arrival and they did bring us a cup of tea to the room (which they charged us for) but we had expected a kettle/cups/milk etc as advertised.

Given that I was traveling with a group, I didn't get to choose the hotel. Also, given that each person was on a tight budget, the hotel chosen was based on affordability above all else, location second. I hadn't been to the Hotel Candide before, but it was perfect for our trip. A group of 30year olds in Paris for a spontaneous weekend getaway -- couldn't have asked for a more friendly hotel. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The rooms were small, as is normal in Paris, and though clean, they weren't impressive in any decorative way. (I have previously stayed at the Hotel Lutecia, and my rooms were no larger there.) For a brief, fun weekend, this was a great place. All said, this hotel was a deal, and I would certainly stay there again!

The triple rooms are too little. Good for people who only use the hotel as a place di sleep and have breakfast. The position is good: it's possible to reach Pere lachaise and Place de la Bastille on foot.

I stayed in this hotel only 1 night. Like most of the hotels of this class in old buildings of Paris, this one had a very small room. But this and slight problems with ventilation in the bathroom are actually the only negative thing i can remember. The staff was very friendly, bathroom newly rennovated, bed was convenient to sleep - everything was just fine.

On walking distance to the Marais, Place the Vosges and the Bastille. Close to the Metro. Hotel with rather small but comfortable rooms and very kind, welcoming personel. Direct neighbourhood is not touristic but very much Paris.

After one month traveling in Europe with two young teenagers, Hotel Candide stood out as one of our best bargains. Paying 95 euros for a comfortable and clean triple room with a hearty breakfast for all of us included in the fee, was a bargain in Paris. The employees at the desk, (especially Jacques), were amazingly friendly, helpful, and patient with a middle aged, directionally challenged, teacher who only speaks English. They gave directions, called a cab, lent us a fan for the room, opened up wine bottles, etc. The help in the breakfast room never stopped filling the buffet of fresh breads, yogurt, breakfst meats, coffee, juices, etc., and cleared tables quickly. Also, room service was also available for breakfast,if you wished. The location was safe, located in a middle/working class section of Paris with some wonderful bakeries and a lovely park close by. We were able to travel from the Voltaire metro station (less than a three minute walk from the hotel) to all the popular attractions/neighborhoods of Paris within about 20 minutes. A heat wave hit that week, and our fifth floor room was warm, but I didn't expect air conditioning, in a 2 star hotel. After our experiences in Rome, London, Brugge, etc., I can say that this hotel was a bargain, and reccomend it to those on a budget, who also want a clean (if slightly worn) room, a staff who will help those who speak English and other languages, in a safe neighborhood. We had a wonderful time in Paris, and virtually everyone we encountered from the metro employees, to waitresses, train conductors, and people on the street, were amazingly kind and friendly to this subruban mom and her two kids. Met some fellow Americans who were rather loud, disgruntled, and disparging about the hotel, and the city in general, and surprise, surprise, they had a very different experience than mine in the hotel and around the city. What goes around, comes around! We will certainly visit Hotel Candide on our next trip to Paris!

Hotel was very clean and welcoming. Staff was friendly and professional. Bad points though is that we could hear all the conversation of our neighbours in the room next door. But in overall we are very satisfied with our stay. We had breakfasr in Bed (croissants, coffee, baguette, mmmm!) and that was delicious! I would recommend this hotel because it is in a good location (very easy access with the metro) and value for money for Paris. Even if the rooms are a bit small, they look quite good and modern!

The hotel is excellent value for money. Rooms and public areas are very clean and staff were always very helpful. (Just watch out for breakfast time -don't miss the 10am close time or you will miss out even if you arrived just prior. Was disappointed that a laundry was shown on the web pages but none is actually available. We went to the laundromat down the road. Located in a good average Parisian area.
