For the price, the room was absolutely luxurious -- top quality interior, bed coverings, linens, etc. The immediate neighborhood is pretty colorless but the hotel is near enough to all the attractions, the Bund, etc., and as other reviewers have said, as long as you have your address written out in Chinese the cabs are easy and as cheap as a subway ride in the U.S.

Even though the size of the room was very small, the room itself was almost worthy of a 4.5 star rating. Location is not excellent, but it is only a ten min walk to Najing Rd and the Bund. Overall very impressed.

A good location in the older part of Shanghai, close to the Bund, a short walk to Nanjing Road and the river. Surrounding streets pretty ordinary but we felt safe and found it an interesting area. Make sure you have room high up as the traffic noise was awful and we moved to the 7th floor. Room was EXCELLENT. Breakfasts were excellent, western style and huge. Evening meals I would not recommend and they close very early. There was only the one restuarant to choose from which was disappointing. Problems with English speaking staff in the restuarant both at breakfast and evening meals. Ask for non smoking section in hotel if you don't like the smell. Some of the airconditioning is very musty. Many westerners stay there.

If you are the Mac lovers, don"t find any signal here. I was doing my business trip and under the impression there has internet connection. Surprise! All the answer from the night time staff is computer geaks are not around during the night time, I mean: 9pm??? Of course, the business center closed at 8:30 pm. I knew my last minute trip wasn't expensive anyway. But the basic in the hotel should be around. For example, I need to upgrade to the better room, cause my rate what I paid for the room is not what they offer. In the end , as usual I need to upgrade 15 to a better room. At that moment I just don"t care about the money, I need a comfort and clean and in working order room. The Gym and the business center is really a joke, anyway. I won't be stay there again. The doorman and day time manager is only staff I can recall helpful. But that is it................?????????????
