Nayland HotelI often stay here - does what it says on the tin.Good VFM - rooms are small but ideal for me as a sole occupier. The place is clean.Breakfast is a bit basis but it does the job.

No air conditioner or fan to keep you comfortable when it is hot. It is even worse when it is hot and raining.

One of the numerous hotels near the Paddington train station. I opted for a double room which was offered at the same rate as singles in the hope to gain a bit more space. It worked, the room size was relatively OK (for London and this type of cheap accommodation). It was also acceptably clean, including the bathroom but not the bed cover which was rather old and slightly oily; the room was quite. I stayed only for one night and departed early in the morning before breakfast was served (starting from 7 am) and therefore could not check the food. The overall impression about the hotel is OK for the price yet was unpleasantly surprised that the wireless Internet was not free - eventually I used a nearby Internet cafe for very little.

Stayed in room 610. Room was in the basement of hotel. Window faced the breakfast lounge so I had to keep my curtains closed to have privacy. Breakfast lounge was small and crammed. Very little variety of food. Bed was uncomfortable and got two single instead of a double as requested. Receptionist was very helpful.

Not as advertisedThe Hotel is advertised as a 4* but it is so obviously not. I booked a double and was given a twin

Stayed at a number of hotels in the Sussex Gardens and would rate this as the best so far. Very clean. Room small but as they all are in these converted town houses. Only criticism would be that they serve orange cordial for breakfast. Orange juice would be far better. Would stay there again

Excellent location and only a 2 minute walk from Paddington station which is great for people using the Heathrow express and for those wanting to use the tube. Hotel staff very helpful and provided a welcome pack including a map of the area, a tube map and a list of the bus numbers. The hop on hop off bus is located a minute away, just around the corner. Great location which has plenty of pubs, internet cafes, take aways, shops and a post office - all only a couple of minutes walk away. Paddington Station also has a couple of supermarkets. Hyde Park is less than a five minute walk. Room size was okay compared to other hotels in the same area. Luggage is stored in a hotel a few doors away. Breakfast was basic but good. Would stay here again and recommend to others.

One night Stay at NaylandCustomer service was fine the room was very clean. Was on 4th Floor and shower was weak cut off totally on two occassion when showering only had one shower. Also no soap or shampoo left in room however reception was able to provide these on request. Hotel central and breakfast fine if you like toast and cereal. Guess if you get room on lower floors you should be ok.Hotel within 10 minute walk of marble arch and at reasonale cost

Nayland Hotel reviewRoom was good. Deal was good as I benefit of late rooms discount. Breakfast was average

Nayland ReviewThe hotel did not really reflect that of 4 * accomodation which is what it was advertised as. The room was disappointing in that there were no facilities to make tea/coffee and it was extremely small for a twin room, verging on pokey. I put a special request in for a nice view but instead was immediately facing the breakfast room whereby people could see in, if my curtain was not drawn. Lastly, breakfast was very limited, consisting of tea/coffee, toast and cereal and not much else. On the plus side, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Staff were rudeI thought that US staff would be rude in comparison to the English. Yet this was not to be. I often had the sense that they were doing me a favour in speaking to me. Largely because I was drawing their attention away from the newspaper or MSN.Never felt welcome and always felt an inconvienance. Never stay there again.

Stay away from any room near the lift shaft, we were woken at 4 am by a compressor operating! Breakfast was toast, cheese, ham, with very cheap serials! This is served until 09:30, be warned once 09:30 comes they turn the toaster off and start taking the food away, I realy felt sorry for a young lad that arrived at 09:25. They took the food away as he was trying to eat it! how ignorant. The food is not worth booking the hotel for you can get an english for £2.95 round the corner at a cafe. What will stop me staying here again is the staff and poor attitude, espicially in the breakfast room, what a shame because if it was not for that we would have stayed agian as the room was pleasent and clean. Ohh the one member of staff who was quite pleasant was the man that booked us in when we arrived! just thought it was worth a mention

Terrible hotel. Tiny, old fashioned (apparently refurbished) room. Rude receptionist wouldn't answer my question, which was: \"Why have I paid LateRooms £75 for this room, when it's clearly marked here as a £65 room?\". She ignored me and took the cash anyway! The Glass in my bathroom was really dirty, looked like it had some milk in it about 2 years ago that hadn't been washed away. I've stayed in a lot of rough hotels in Asia and Africa and this is in my top 5.

There are better budget hotels at the same price, personally although I haven't anything awful to say I didn't enjoy the stay and there was nothing about the hotel to make me want to stay there again. Breakfast wasn't very nice. On a positive note it's very convenient to paddington if this is important and the road isn't as busy as some in London. Check out process is manual and slow.

The room was like being in a garage gloomy and dark - the tv was at crick your neck height not the best room for the money

My wife and I have stayed elsewhere in the Sussex Gardens area and this is now our preferred hotel. Situated on a fairly quiet street in a generally noisy neighborhood (near Paddington Station and St Mary's Hospital), we find its central location quite convenient. Although our room was small (but perhaps not by London standards), it was quite clean and reasonably well-appointed. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot, and the tiny bathroom squeezed in all the essentials. For we who spend most of our waking day away from the hotel room, this provided more than adequate accommodations. As for breakfast, it is plentiful and nourishing but quite plain. Wireless broadband is a nice touch (although there are internet cafes nearby), as is the lift. And if it matters to you, the manager is hardly the soul of affability but the rest of the staff is quite friendly. As London budget hotels go, this seems a solid choice.

The hotel was fine and the staff very helpful and friendly. However the breakfast was awful-not even fresh orange, coffee horrid and only limited cereals. Otherwise a good reasonable value hotel

Good location for Hyde park and plenty of local facilities. Staff were efficient and interested. Everything was very clean and gave the impression of a well-looked after hotel. Breakfast was basic continental and efficiently done. The room was a little small...just enough space to walk round the bed. It is odd for a hotel at this price not to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room, although these were available at the small hotel bar downstairs at reasonable prices. The inconvenience of this would make me look elsewhere next time.

If you are arriving at Paddington this is a good hotel for a short stay. Small rooms but very clean. Some traffic noise but this is only to be expected in London. If it bothers you then get out more! This is London after all.
