Renovation of the hotel took around 5 years as it was left for a long time during the different situations that happened in Jerusalem. The National Hotel, a four star hotel, is one of the oldest established hotels in East Jerusalem, its central location with in walking distance from the old city and its famous gourmet Arabic restaurant made it an attractive site to be visited by world leaders such as King Hussien of Jordan and President Jimmy Carter of the USA.
