The newly renovated rooms were really nice. The bathrooms were gorgeous and the beds were comfortable. The views were amazing. I was a little disappointed about not having a bar or restaurant. Besides that I would stay again.

we had a delux ocian front room with Lanai which was remodeled recently so the room was very clean and tastful in sinmple style. we enjoyed the beautiful view of the Mauna Kea mountain over the sea from the room. The Hotel is stil on away to reconstruct and the service is not so you would expect from the first grade hotel, forinstance the elevators inside, out door swimming pool look rather unsightly, and what they serve for the breakfast buffet is not so special for the money you spend. We would recomend to take a breakfast at Ken`s dinning just a few blocks a way from the hotel.

We stayed here two years ago and it was horrible! Couldn't get into a different hotel so thought we'd give it a second chance as we were visiting friends and would only sleep here. Got a renovated room which was so much better than before and it was kept very clean, which was nice. BUT the noise on the tiled hallways was terrible!! It does have a beautiful view of Hilo Bay and is very close to everytyhing. No frills so don't expect a lot.

Ocean view was great. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Price was awesome for the view and room we got. When they finish construction on the place, it'll be a great place to stay and I'd go back.

| We stayed in a not yet renovated room for $56US. It was very old, musty, and had disgustingly stained carpets. The beds were ok as was the bathrooms. This is reflected back on the price we paid for the room compared to other available accommodation, although the front desk staff was not as friendly and helpful as could be.
One positive aspect was that the signal from the wireless internet actually was able to be picked up from the garden view rooms. |

I stayed at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort for five nights this March and found the Resort to overall be a very positive experience. The newly renovated ocean front room provided front and center view of the ocean through swaying palm trees resulting in a tropical feel that hard to beat. The room?s natural wood touches, beautiful ceramic tile bathroom, 32 inch flat screen TV and original artwork was just what I needed after spending the day viewing the spectacular on-going volcanic eruption. I look forward to returning to the resort next year. The only negative comment would be that the hotel needs to quickly re-open a full service restaurant.

Although, this hotel was newly rennovated, they clearly didn't think things through for the traveler. I stayed at another hotel near by for a week and would definitely stay at that hotel before I would stay at this hotel again. I was looking forward to staying here because of the previous reviews saying that the renovations were great, well first impressions yes, BUT it's not very comfortable nor does it have everything in the room that you need. Not to mention tile floors throughout even in the hallway which makes for a lot of noise! The thing that I didn't like at all, is there isn't a single vending machine in the hotel and you have to go next door to buy drinks. The other thing is I tried to call the front desk numerous times and no one answered, not even when you hit zero to get an operator!! I would understand if it was in the middle of the night, but it was like early evening!! The hotel is obviously in DESPERATE need of renovation, because you can tell how absolutely awful it was before!! Even with the new renovation this probably would be the last hotel I would choose to stay at again.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There was hair and stains all over the bed, the sheets, and the carpet and chair and dead bugs in the bathroom. The room we stayed in had chemicals sprayed all over the room, and in the middle of the night (3 am) I started having early contractions (I'm pregnant), and ended up in the emergency room for 5 hours the next day! The manager refused to give us a new room, until I told him about the contractions at 3 am! Talk about a horrible vacation all because of a hotel!

We stayed one night in this hotel after a week on the Kona side, to explore the Hilo area.Turned out to be a great location with wonderful views of Hilo bay from the rooms and a specatacular view from the lobby. We were checked in to an unrenovated room initially. it was so nasty that we reeled in shock. But the front desk guy was very polite and accommodated us in one of their newly renovated rooms. It was clean, minimalist in decor and very comfortable. This property has great grounds and clearly was wonderful in its heyday but it has been allowed to decline beyond reason. Once the entire propery is renovated , this will be easily be one of the best hotels in Hilo. Would definitely stay here again on the renovated side! We did not eat here.

This hotel is under renovations. Not all rooms are renovated yet. Make sure to ask for a renovated room. The other rooms are not nice like the new ones.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If every hotel was sold out you should pitch a tent or sleep in your car. And we ate breakfast there which was nothing to get excited about as what they call a buffet is nothing more then an expensive continental breakfast.

Certain floors were under construction but the entire hotel was filthy. Chairs and carpet were badly soiled in our room. We asked to be moved and were "upgraded" to a room that was equally filthy.

The Naniloa is an older hotel in an excellent location on Hilo bay. It is currently undergoing extensive renovation. The rooms are not in the best of shape, but the views can be great.

Major renovations being done. Some renovations are worse than the original e.g. marble floors replacing carpets, so now super noisy. Unbelievably noisy. Beyond belief and after renovations will be finished, will be noisy like sharing rooms with next neighboring rooms. Toilets incredibly noisy. All marble and no sound buffers. Noisy. Efforts to renovate on the cheap. This hotel will go out of business soon because everyone will hate it.

The hotel location and the view were excellent. Public areas and the grounds were great. They are remodeling the rooms, but I got one that wasn't done yet and the bathroom was old.
