This is a very nice and clean hotel. The only thing is that starting thursday through sunday all the local people stay here and they get up at the crack of dawn and go and put their stuff in the pool charis so when you get dowm there at 10 their is not one seat left, but nobody is down there. It is pretty unfair. Also the breakfast buffet is a rip off 30 dollars for 2 people. You can down to Chili beans and you can both eat for 10 dollars. They have the best food. Franks is another resturant that had the best bacon wrapped shrimp I have ever had. This place was a little pricy, but WELL worth it 50 dollar for 2. This hotel is near everything so you do not need to rent a car. There is a travel agent on sit so everything y ou book there they can and pick you up from your hotel. We did Ixtapa island and it was beautiful. I have snorkled in Maui and cozumel and this was by far the best I have seen. The sunset cruise was wonderful also. All in all this was a great trip!

It's too bad when someone has a bad experience at a hotel and posts a poor review. Not enough people post GOOD reviews. The nH Krystal is a fabulous hotel. The staff is outstanding. Thanks to all the staff for making our week at the hotel wonderful. We had a junior suite and the housekeeper put fresh flowers in our room every day. The views were spectacular and the room quite adaquete. We traveled in the off-season (October) and it is humid. We hope to go in the early months of the year next time. We did not go all-inclusive as there are many local restaurants to experience. Getting a quick breakfast and then off to daily activities was great. Spending the afternoon and early evening in the pool made our day even better. The pool is beautiful and clean. The lounge chairs have great cushions and there are lots of umbrellas for shade. The food is to be expected at a hotel. Some local recipes are worth trying. Go to the local restaurants too. Many waiters are extra friendly and helpful with good tips. Go to Zihuatanejo and stop at the resorts above Playa Ropa, buy coffee beans in town, eat at Banditos and have the stuffed ancho chili with stawberry sauce. Yummy! Enjoy Mexico for all it is and make friends with the people. You will love Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo.

upon checking in reception shift supervisor informed us our daughters age 14 & 15 are considered adults in their hotel so they're will be an additioanl 490 fee we paid travel agency in advanced so we did not know of this extra fee we attemptd to resolve the defiency with the shift supervisor and travel agency to no avail the shift supervisor bluntly told us if we want we can check in to another hotel and we were still being charged for one night. we decided it would be more trouble to check out but we contacted travel agency though their hotel help website and no response. During our stay the rooms full size beds were hard. there was no ice maker only containers full of ice which did not look sanitary. the food was the same every day, the menu did not change at all. Considering our dispute at check in I thought that atleast one day during our stay a supervisor was going to approach us with a complimentary drink or an upgrade to a suite or an apology for the misunderstanding. nothing during check out at that time i asked to speak to the hotel manager only then front office manager apologized and stated he wish he was told about it and he reduced the additional price of my childs stay by half. I think that the staff should be trained if there is a dispute it should be documented and with the guest of that dispute ther should be follow-up. The pool area was nice althought the lounge chair pads were very worn, and on occasion the pool didnot look or feel sanitary chlorine testing needed more frequently as the day went on. the bar staff was nice and very attentive unlike the reception.

All Inclusive here is the worst money you will ever spend in Mexico. The mixed drinks are absolutely watered down beyond belief. I swear the wait/drink staff ignore the people wearing the all inclusive red wrist bands. I guess they go after full paying customers to get a better tip? The food is atrocious with buffet service included on AI and only a day or 2 where you can order off the menu. The breakfast buffet is actually decent where as the lunch and dinner buffet is horrible. You can order off the menu at any meal but they will tack on an additional $13 per person per meal. Please! Please! people save all the money you would spend on the additional All Inclusive feature and just go into town (a very short walk) and eat from several very inexpensive local restaurants. Most of the time the 2 of us could eat breakfast or lunch for $10 total or less and dinner for 2 was usually under $20 total. They have happy hours all the time in town with beers running just about $1 and margaritas running 2 for 4$ or so.

Location. Long check in. I was very disappointed with this hotel, long check in with unfriendly staff (understaffed check in/check out). The rooms are showing their age. Very noisy at night with dance club next door.

Maybe we got lucky but it seemed as if there were a lot of happy people here!. We found the staff very nice and friendly and the pool a lot of fun. The room we had was nice and the bed was comfortable. The views of the Pacific were unbelievable. The town of Ixtapa had many decent restaurants and everything was reasonable including the golf courses. About my only complaint was swimming in the Pacific as the life guards are quite vigilant if you try to ride any waves...I would prefer a bit more leniency in that regard. We will be back soon!!

reception not customer friendly specificall dispute with shift supervisor for extra charges because my daughters 14,& 15 considered adults so there is extra fee even though we did not get a bigger room or bigger beds or any extra ameneties poor customer service. no posting of rates regarding occupancy. no follow up during our stay to see how our stay was going. food did not vary same menu daily. pol was nice with slide but water quality would diminish as day went on did not feel sanitary. no ice maker just ice in big barrel chest did not look sanitary. pool lounge chair pads very worn. it does not look like company is training staff or upgrading amenetie including changing menu offerings. during checkout asked to speak to hotel manager had a good conversation with him he understood and reduced additional (adult fee by half) He stated he did not know of dispute and would have addressed it if known. will not stay again, and not recomend to family and friends.

We were there as part of a group of realtors taking some continuing education classes. We have stayed at the Krystal several other times in the past. There were some deferred maintenance issues this time. We had a couple of problems with the water and shower in our room. The hotel staff was very helpful and upgraded our room at no additional cost.

Location, early coffee availability. In-room safe lock shortage, uninviting lobby, swim-up bar access,unwelcoming staff. The hotel was adequate - staff was courteous but not overly friendly; great location but not very inviting or welcoming to patrons; access to the pool bar was difficult (no stairs and low bridge to swim under). Overall the pool area was nice and the room had been updated, the balcony was fine, but the bathtub/shower leaked causing flooding in the bathroom. Compared to other hotels in the area, the Krystal was not as friendly, provided no evening entertainment, and was just not as friendly as others.

had to wait 45 minutes to check in. up-graded to a jr. suite which had mising a table and 2 chairs? we found out the hard way the even though we paid the most for a room (jr. suite) our room was the last to be cleaned each day...we had to wait until about 4pm to have our room cleaned. called for room service and surprisingly was connected to their restaurant which was not psrt of the hotel and did not offer room service. further attempts to get in touch with room service failed. we were told that because of the recent rains that the phone wires wer wet and that was what as causing the telephone problems? (is this 2008 or 1908?). the pool was overcrowded and too small for tha amount of people. the pool was over-taken by children both quite ones and some very loud along with the usual cyring types. no serenity here. if peaceful relaxing time at the pool, this is not the place to stay. breakfast was poor. ordered the american breakfast with scrambled eggs and the eggs looked like the were not scrambled and they were not fully cooked. the hotel is old and in need or restoration. again, we will never go back to this hotel.

The front desk staff was great, especially Pablo! The service was pretty good and the food was good but could use a little more variety. We were there when it was the low season so there was no activities going on. (ex. mexican night, karaoke, etc) Ixtapa is a very relaxing place to be at and not as lively as Cancun, so if you just want to relax this is the place to be at. We had a beautiful view from our room and the room was very clean. We were walking distance from other restaurants and shops. We did the all inclusive package but there are a lot of restaurants around the hotels. Our only complaint is that we did a "tour" at another hotel, (Presidente Intercontinental) and were told that it was not a time share hotel but it was and we were told that we would get our taxi fare reimbursed and they made every excuse to not give it back to us! So stay away from that hotel! They are very rude and the hotel was not all that. The Krystal is not a bad place to stay at. They also are not pushy for tips but some of the staff there really made you feel welcomed and deserved the tips we gave them.

We paid for the NH Club room and arrived there for our honeymoon. The room was not ready so they put us in the 3rd floor, not the 11th, for the whole trip. The bottle of wine and snacks are a joke. The bottle is 135ml red wine and the snacks are 3 crackers with cheese. We did not get any of the things we paid for with the club room. We talked to the manager upon check in, he said he would fix it and come find us right away. One day turned into 8 days and 5 trips back to the front desk. In short, they did not honor the room or anything we paid for. The pool has a great waterfall you can jump off, only if you are a kid. Makes no sense watching kids with water-wings jumping off a 8 foot waterfall into 10 feet of water and no adults can use it. The adults are stuck in the 4.5 ft deep area. I was a little upset with that and it took some fun out of the pool. The pool staff is great. It is like they are a different group of the hotel and they go above and beyond to help you in the right way. Food was OK at the resturant but the pool side was better. The pool bar is only open from 12-6 and they only stay open if people are there. Overall, I would rate this hotel about a 2.5 out of 5. For a honeymoon, they did not make us feel like we were special at all and it took away from it. They would also not honor the NH credits upon check out even when I showed them the website for NH hotels. Again, the front desk is not the best. Express check out with the Club rooms does not exist. You stand in the same line as everyone else. I would stay there again for the pool and our kids however, I would check other hotels in the area before booking this one again. This would be my last choice of hotels for a while.

We just returned from the Krystal and I would say the staff and service was excellent. I work in the industry and although it is Mexico and my package was all inclusive - tips included the staff was very, very nice and helpful. I have already recommended to others. The hotel could use some sprucing up and there is construction going on next door. "

This hotel was very conviently located in the middle of the hotel stip. You are in within 10 minutes to a lot of shopping and restaurants. The rooms were very clean. The hotel says wireless internet, but i found that it only works in the lobby, bar or on a certain floor. It was vey inconvenient. Overall, i would recommend this hotel to others, but everything in the hotel closes rather early

My husband and I were pretty well satisfied with the Krystal Hotel. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable but the pillows a bit hard. We asked for more pillows hoping for a softer one but they were the same. The hotel could use some updating. The pool was awesome. Lots of activities for both young and old. We did not do the all inclusive, we like to eat when we are out and about. The hotel is centrally located as far a shopping and out lying areas.

"First 3 nights were bad... our room was on the N. over the garbage and the air cond. was so loud we couldn't sit outside & couldn't see beach. Upon asking, we were moved to the S. side. They were accomodating about that. Ask for King beds cuz the dbls feel like they're made of concrete. The pool and palapa situation sucks... there aren't enough for the size of the hotel. I was there last year and this... and the breakfast is still wonderful but the lunches and dinners are so-so. DEFINITELY go to Bogarts and have the filet though! The staff and beach are their best assets."
