Business hotel well placed for CityOne of the best placed hotels in Amsterdam for all the city has to offer. Good staff, quality rooms and not too expensive. Well located for trains and access to Airport.

There was nothing tht you could fault about the Hotel, we were upgraded to the Royal Wing (renamed Amsterdam Wing during our stay) breakfast etc was expensive but due to great location we weren't far away from other outlets which we took full advantage off, would certainly use this Hotel again

Just returned from a trip to Amsterdam. It was a special occasion, so we wanted to have nice accommodations for the 3 days we stayed there. We chose Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. It is a bit pricey. When I shopped around, the prices were generally in the range; however, I found an advance purchase at Travelocity at /night. It turned out to be a great bargain for this hotel, and it was worth every penny. First, the hotel's location can't be beat - it's right on the Dam Square, in the center of everything. Second, the room was huge compared to other European hotels we stayed at. Some reviewers said the rooms were a bit shabby, but our room was pretty clean and nice. Third, the amenities are excellent. You get a generous package of the usual bathroom stuff, and a choice of 4 kinds of pillows. Plus, if you need anything else, the staff is very attentive. For example, I could not find my electric adapter to charge my phone. One call to the front desk, and in 5 minutes I had a proper adapter. The concierge is very attentive and helpful. Several very nice dining establishments on the premises, including a picturesque winter garden. They are not cheap, though. A couple drawbacks. The shower system is very weird, and the shower hose gets in the way. Plus the water temperature was fluctuating which was annoying. Also, the bathroom itself looked a little dated, with green tiles straight from the 70s. Also, we had a problem with our AC, and the room was too warm (until we decided to open the windows). It was the weekend night, so the maintenance staff has already gone home. But these did not detract from the overall experience. Definitely recommend!

3 star rooms within a 5 star tired looking hotel. A big disappointment. Spend some money on your rooms Krasnapolski - people go to 5 star hotels for consistency - if you put rooms on bargain websites to increase your occupancy figures then don't just keep old rooms for that purpose.

I was really worried about staying at this hotel after I read the reviews. I'm happy to report though that I had a great experience here!! I had a reservation for a standard-twin bed smoking room. At check-in I asked if it would be possible to have a room with a bigger bed. The front desk clerk checked and I was given a spacious room with a king size bed, no problem. My room was in the main building on the 4th floor. My next worry was a stinky room, which was not the case at all. It smelled very pleasant. There was a window that I could open (which had a sliver of a view of the dam) and along with the airconditioning system I was able to air out the effects of my smoking. The bathroom was old and outdated but clean. I ate the breakfast buffet in the wintergarten one time. The selection and quality of the offerings were great, however as it was not included in my room rate I had to pay for it. The price was outrageous, and I would have had to drink the champagne to get my money's worth. The location of this hotel is unbeatable!!! I found that using the trams very convenient for getting close to the attractions and to save on steps. Be sure to have comfortable walking shoes.

Fantastic hotel, great location, helpfull staff. Breakfast was delicius. BUT a hotel of that standard should be able to offer free internet access. I was surprised that guests have to pay for that... most hotels offer free wireless internetaccess today..

In terms of location, it can't be beat.....right in the center of Dam Square. (although its in a tourist section (think a classy marriot marquee in Times Square in NYC) The hotel is magnificant. Classy, beautiful, ornate. My room was exceptionally appointed: razors, shave cream, exfoliating pads, shoe shine, toothbrush, hairbrush, etc...the list goes on...terry cloth robes & slippers, inroom coffe & tea sevice...complementary use of inroom safe. Oh, & they even have 5 different pillow choices!!! I was totally impressed! The staff is wonderful. They even gave me a personal wakeup call with a knock on the door, to ensure I would make my flight. The conciers was very helpful.

We booked the N H Krasnapolsky because we thought, 5 star can't go wrong. This couldn't have been further from the truth. We booked 1 twin room & 1 double for 3 girls when we got there we were told they had appartments for us, they made out this was an upgrade. We followed the porter through the hotel and out the other side, down an alley way past pubs full of drunken men to a scruffy doorway, the appartments were up a very steep stairway on which my friend fell hurting her leg. The rooms were very, very dirty with threadbare carpets etc and smelled of stale cigarettes, we obviously asked to be moved & were told the hotel was full and after much debating were moved to rooms which were only marginately better. They were dirty threadbare but at least in the hotel. Again after asking for the manager & insisting these were not even 3 star rooms were moved to another hotel, The NH Barbizon. This was much better but in my opionion the rooms which we were given were not of 5 star standard. We were only there for the weekend but wasted 3 hours of which we were given no discount only an apology from the Manager who admitted the rooms were not good.

The room was a good size, bed was lovely. Bathroom was outdated. Location of hotel was good and easily accessible. Cost of room should have included breakfast, too pricey.

We went for a long weekend. Our plan was to have a romantic getaway, walk everywhere, and see as much as we could see in three days. The location of the hotel was only a few blocks from Central Station and walking distance to everywhere. The two restaurants in the hotel were very good, and the bar was a cozy place to have drinks before or after dinner. The service was good. We would stay there again.

This hotel is located directly on DAM Square and is within a few short blocks to Magna Plaza, Kalvestraat Shopping Street, Red Light District, Madam Tussauds, Central Station, Canal Boats and a large compliment of pubs and restaurants. The lobby of the hotel is vintage 5 Star with a large uniformed staff, beautiful atrium eating area, lobby cafe and separate bar with a very nice almost exclusive atmosphere. The room was nice, good size and well apointed although we upgraded to an executive room. We will return again.

The Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is the grand jewel of all the Amsterdam Hotels. Location is on Dame Square across from the Royal Palace. It is walking distance from the Floating Flower Market, Shopping, Museums, Red Light District, Central Station and the cannel tours. The restaurants in the hotel are all 5 star. The finest dining and atmosphere in all of Amsterdam. The rooms are spacious, clean, and air conditioned. Great hotel, great rooms, great restaurants, great location, all make for a great recommendation. I couldn't find one thing I would change or find anything that I was not satisfied with.

Location is excellent for all of Amsterdam. During my stay, the television was being upgraded to On-Demand which meant it was very poor service during my stay (Dec 07). The rooms were above average from my prespective.

Great hotel- fabulous location and the best Cocktail BarMan possibly in the World! Bar had a really good vibe and dedicated service from the Staff.Hotel staff were courteous and helpful.Sunday Brunch in The Winter Garden is a must for that truly extravagant experience.

This is the second time we have stayed here and wouldn't think about staying anywhere else when visiting Amsterdam. It's only a quick 5 minute walk from Central Station and is conveniently situated right on Dam Square with all the city's attractions, restaurants and shops right on your doorstep. The standard hotel rooms are clean and spacious and are maybe not the cheapest in town but for a 5* Hotel are definitley value for money.
