This hotel succeeded to turn my vacation this year to a real enjoyment. the best thing I will remember always is the wonderful staff attitude. they were all up to the international level scale with an Egyptian touch of warm, kind and friendly in their communication with us. (I am a regular traveler in and outside Egypt)

Thankfully, the Movenpick has assumed management of this hotel. When Oberoi managed it back in 2000, it was less-than-ideal! Movenpick has transformed this resort into a first-rate hotel, with spacious, well designed, comfortable rooms. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful -- especially with kids. They even agreed to an extended checkout time at a really reasonable fee. The food at the Orangerie was great as well -- although High Tea at the hotel's tower restaurant sounds really tempting. Don't let the dated "ferry boat" to the island alarm you - its shabby appearance in no way reflects the upscale accommodations at this hotel. One piece of advice -- ask the hotel to help you arrange a "falucca" ride around the island 1 hour before sunset. The views are stunning! Thanks Movenpick and Orbitz for making our stay in Aswan so enjoyable.

This hotel was GREAT, had been obviously just re-furbished, was clean, organised and in a beautiful position with lovely views across to Aswan. Also included is a free boat shuttle service with runs 24/7 taking just a few minutes to arrive in the centre of town. I couldn't fault this hotel for anything.

The hotel is isolated on an island and only accessible by ferry. Personally we liked this - some may not. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel pool is fabulous, it is huge and I believe possibly the nicest in Aswan. The staff were welcoming and extremely friendly. The manager or host of the restaurant went out of his way to provide guests with exceptional customer service. However ... we both ate dinner at the buffet restaurant and we experienced tummy problems for the next 24 hours. This surprised us given the caliber of the hotel and that we didn't have problems with the breakfast buffet. Otherwise the hotel was terrific.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Initially I was a little concerned that staying at a hotel on Elephantine Island (in the middle of the Nile) would be a problem, but it wasn't at all. The regular (& free) ferry service meant we never waited longer than 2 minutes for the short ferry ride across to the dock. The standard of the hotel itself was excellent, and the staff were friendly and most helpful during our 2 night stay. It seems the hotel has undergone a full refurb recently, and is still in the process of being extended, although the construction work didn't seem to bother us too much. The pool area was nice enough and looked over the Nile and into Aswan. After our stay we boarded a 3 night cruise up the Nile. If you're doing the same then this hotel is in the right location. It's a short ferry ride to the other side of the Nile, and then you can either walk or catch a cab to your boat - depending on which of the 30 or so that are moored there is yours.

The hotel is fantastic with the best location in Aswan. Ignore the modernistic style as it doesnt bother anyone, the hotel has excellent location in one of Egypts most fascinating places.
