The motel 6 was a rest stop before continueing on to our camping adventure. Upon arrival, the desk clerks weren't very friendly, and were dressed sloppy. Upon arriving to the room and opening the door we were greeted with a nasty stink! We opened windows, and 'fanned' the room by opening and closing the door! The bedding was so ridiculous! We took a picture of it! We ended up striping the bedding off and using our sleeping bags since it looked very dingy. However, we must say that it is a step up from camping and we figured that it certainly wasn't any worse than camping. We are glad we booked online and got a discount versus paying full price for this place! Redding itself was fun to explore (we tried to get out the room as much as possible!) We actually went to another hotel and inquired about jogging trails as they had no clue at our front desk. There is a marvelous 11 mile bike trail along the Sacramento River that starts and the Turtle Bay Exploratorium.

Although I reserved a smoking room there were ciggarette holes in the comforter and the shower curtain bar came off when I went to take a shower. Also I was charged 5 dollars from Orbitz which I did not understand why. Other than that it was ok.

The room was comfortable, the pool was great. The bathroom was clean and the staff was very helpful. We usually just sleep in our hotel room and were not looking for many ammenities. The coin washer dryer and the pool were all we needed. Turtle Bay, Lake Shasta, Shasta Caverns, Lassen Volcanic National Park were all within driving range. Many restaurants, Shopping, and cinimas were also nearby.

The Motel 6 Redding - South was a fine place to stay. I am in a wheelchair and the wheel-in shower was fantastic and the only one I encountered on my trip. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, giving me clear directions for my next destination. The only complaint I had was, while knowing this was a smoking room (I am not a smoker, but my wife is), the reek of tobacco when first entering this room was overwhelming. I have stayed in plenty of smoking rooms in my travels and this is only the second time I have encountered such strong odor. There must be a system other hotels/motels use to decrease the stench. Overall, though, I was very satisfied with my experience.
