Date of Stay:
July, 2009
I was in a cash crunch and needed something inexpensive while my child and I attended orientation at IU. There were ashtrays in my Non smoking room turned upside down with no smoking stickers on them and burn marks on the night table and table in the room from someones unattended cigarettes. It was a bed that I could sleep in...maybe I should have slept in my car.

Frankly, we did not have a good stay in this place. We got a non-smoking room, but I noticed that there were several ashtrays in there and a large cigarette hole burned into the bed cover. On the plus side, there was no smell of smoke that I could detect. Also, the room contained quite a number of gnats, mosquitoes, flies, and other assorted bugs. We tried to kill as many as we could but we were no match for them. The bed was quite uncomfortable. Thin mattress, and the middle is caved in. In addition to that, we could hear loud thumping noises occurring throughout the night as well as the sound of people walking around (sounded like loud stomping) in the adjacent rooms. I guess the walls are really thin there. I stayed in a hotel in Chicago for a lower price two weeks ago that was much cleaner with a good mattress and nicer amenities, including a large TV and mini-fridge. I don't understand why staying in this motel in a small college town during summer break could cost $15 more per night. Also, my boyfriend had a similar bad experience in a Motel 6 in Indianapolis. We plan never to use Motel 6 again. In fact, after being unable to get to sleep due to noise, we finally decided to check out early (around 3-4 am) our second night and just head on home, since we were leaving in the morning anyways. It was not worth the money at ALL. I wish I could get a refund. Aw, snap!

Went to visit family in nursing home. Showed my son my old home town. Would have been nice to have a small table and chairs.

I just needed a place to rest my head for the night so I didn't have to concern myself with amenities. Location was perfect, the desk staff were very nice, the room was clean. I didn't get an opportunity to check out anything else. I would stay again.

This is the second time that I stayed at this Motel. I was lucky to be able to book it for a Thursday night before graduation at IU. The price was very good. The young lady who worked the counter at check-in was very friendly and efficient. Likewise for the different young lady who worked the counter at check-out. The room was clean and quiet. I got a great night of sleep. The only negative is that the room had a slight chemical odor that I could not identify. It did not stop me from sleeping. The Motel is located very close to IU. It is not likely that I will return to the Motel because my step-daughter has graduated from IU, but this Motel is one that you should consider if you would like an inexpensive, no frills motel.

Nonsmoking room had a used, dirty ashtray in it. Carpet was very dirty. Shower hadn't been cleaned.

I would have preferred another hotel but on graduation day at Indiana University it hard to find any room. I thank you for finding me this room. Joe Kirby

I asked for a non-smoking room. When I arrived the room smelled of cigarette smoke with an ash tray next to the bed on the night stand. It even had a non-smoking sign on the door. Not the greatest Motel 6 I have stayed in at all.

The Motel 6 Bloomington was a good value for the money, very close to restaurants with quiet rooms even though it was located on a rather busy street.

Large room with comfortable beds but dingy linens. Towel rack on the floor in the bathroom and mildew smell. Nice hot water but tub looked dirty. Previous renters drink left in fridge. Carpet dirty and not well vacuumed. There were two luggage racks, and separate sink area which was nice, but you also had to lift the toilet seat to close the bathroom door. They asked if I wanted housekeeping and ignored my answer. Next time I'll go somewhere else.

The motel was clean and the staff was very helpful. There was only one ice machine and that was in the lobby. There were five buildings, so you had to walk to get ice.The rooms were clean, but the cleaner they use has a strong smell.I sat with my door open for a while to let the room air out. There is a restaurant nearby. It is very easy to find the places you need to get to from the motel. There was plenty of space on the vanity and plenty of hangers to hang your clothes.I would stay there again.

For 2 days of my seven night stay I received no housekeeping service. I didn't even get an apology from the manager. I complained to the national management, and they sent me a form letter apology. Because of this experience, I will never stay at Motel 6 again. They left the light on for me, but no one cleaned my room during long hard days I had, arriving back at the hotel at 10pm.

We stayed here because of the proximity to the stadium at IU. We spent two nights. I guess that we did get our money's worth because the price was cheap. However, the carpet was dirty, the keys didn't work on 8/9. We stood in a long line of other people that had the same problem with their key. Our toilet was stopped up because someone had dropped the plastic toilet paper holder into the toilet and apparently had just left it there - trying to flush it down or something. We asked for maintenance to come and they said that we could come get a plunger and do it ourself! My husband found a plastic bag to put over his hand and finally plunged it up far enough so that he could pull it out. We didn't feel that we should have had to do that ourselves. Other than that, the bed was reasonably comfortable and the a/c worked.

This motel 6 was filthy and nasty and I would never expect anybody stay in that filth. The carpet was stained and there was dirt along the walls. I even found food under the bed.

I was in town for the Drum Corps International World Championships. I arrived in town, parked the car and only drove when I left the morning after the competition.

No one expects a great room with Motel 6, but lights that do not work, noisy air conditioner, and a no smoking room with an ash tray?

This motel is reasonably priced and is close to university.

If you are looking for the best value for your buck, this is the place to stay. It's not in the middle of downtown Bloomington or anything, but it's only 20 minutes walking to it. It is very close to the Bloomington Shuttle Hampton Inn stop that comes from the Indianapolis International Airport. There are a few restaurants very close by, plus a supermarket across the street. It was very nice and clean and has all the cable channels plus HBO. The staff I dealt with were all very nice.
