Timely room service, beautiful room, relatively nice bathroom. Really helpful and approachable staff. Easy, no hassle check-in. I visited here with my girlfriend, and it was a very romantic stay. This goes hand in hand with the awesome location of the hotel, right in the middle of Old Town Alexandria. I had a kick ass two night stay at the hotel.

The Morrison House is located on Alfred and King. King is the main street in Alexandria so it has all the shops and eateries you desire. The Hotel is small, however it makes up for it with excellent staff and great atmosphere. The hotel rooms use actual keys instead of keycards. The doorman is always willing to carry bags, open door, give directions or get a taxi. There is lively music in the restaurant and a coffee and tea bar every morning. I've always stayed at large hotel chains, and didn't expect much of a smaller hotel, but I sincerely underestimated the Morrison House Kimpton.

Management dealt poorly with a double billing issue for the room -- was charged nearly 1000.00 for a room which was already paid. Did not return phone calls as promised.

The Morrison House epitomizes southern luxury. The rooms were quaint and lovely and didn't at all feel like a hotel. My daughter and I felt like royalty and considered staying an extra night just to sleep another night in our fabulous bed!!! The best and most important point is that many times we find ourselves in the lap of luxury faced with snotty, rude staff but this couldn't be farther from the truth with the staff of the Morrison House. They are the most polite, helpful and lovely group of people. They seemed happy to accommodate our needs and remembered to use my name in a way that was professional, slightly formal but as an invitation to their friendliness. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when I visit the area.

It's easy to see why The Morrison House is on lists of best places to stay in the DC/Alexandria area. The staff makes you feel as though you are the only guest staying there! The rooms are not large, but they're very comfortable (great beds!) and quiet. We didn't eat at the hotel's restaurant, but Alexandria offers a wide array of great places. Everything is within walking distance--the Old Town, waterfront, and Metro station (a quick 20-minute ride to the Smithsonian), and the King Street Trolley (half a block away) takes folks on the waterfront-Metro circuit for free. If you are travelling with kids, let the hotel staff know. They provide special treats for children (our granddaughter received a personal note, a camera, and some sustenance for long tours (chocolate bars).

We stayed here for one night, in this wonderful, lovely boutique hotel. The hotel is located one block from King Street, with easy walking access to the abundance of restaurants, shops, and waterside. The entire place is quaint. Our room had a massive, tall four poster King sized bed, quite comfortable. (I rated the bed comfort as a 4 not a 5, since it didn't quite match the beds at the Sofitel in Paris or the Pan Pacific---now JW Marriot---in San Francisco.) The room had an Early American feel to it...intricate wall coverings and mouldings, a fireplace, old restored furniture and a period chandalier... Plus a large, modern bath room with beautiful marble counters... As for the staff....all were extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone knew our names! They graciously helped with directions to the hotel, and offered advice about restaurants. They made us feel at home. I wouldnt necessarily recommend this place if you're bringing children, unless they are older and mature. This is a good value, an excellent choice for a romantic getaway or generally for a couples vacation. Highly recommended!

The Morrison House staff greet you as soon as you arrive by taxi just feet from the front door. The public rooms reminds you of an elegant home in Williamsburg, Virginia, with delicious coffee, an excellent library, and attentive personnel. Our room was small but comfortable with a view onto the historic Old Town Alexandria. You are in the heart of wonderful shops, restaurants, and even a vintage movie theater. A short but interesting walk takes you down to the waterfront. The dining room provides gourmet dining and attentive waiters. We plan on staying in this gem of a hotel every time we visit our daughter who lives in Arlington.

Great value. The service was outstanding. The room was a little small but I expect that in an old hotel. The wine reception was very nice. The only meal I had was breakfast and it was wonderful. The location is great for business or site seeing.
