Not an enjoyable stay!I won't be staying here again. Firstly the room i had was in desperate need of a facelift. It was dull, aged and falling to bits. The hotel itself is firmly stuck in the 1950's too! The service was fine, but I only required that to find out there was a Domino's around the corner! Ahh, the food. It's probably a bit unfair for me to comment on the food, as I didn't actually try it, but cocktail sausages and chicken nuggets in a basket with chips does not sound appetising to me!! Thankfully there was a Domino's open until midnight!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Montrose. We will be using this hotel again. The city centre is only 5 minutes away on the buses, which run every 7 minutes. Left the car in hotel and enjoyed a drink in town. Lovely rooms and excellent breakfast. We recommend this hotel highly.

This is our second time to stay at the Montrose and we find it to be comfortable enough for the price we paid. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is good - eat as much as you like, they don't mind you going back for more.

Not so easy to access the hotel by car when you are looking for it. You have to get off before the hotel can be seen, or turn around down the road which is not so easy during rush hour.

breakfact was expensive and over cooked. breafast was disrupted by one of the waiters giving out to another one in an aggressive manner for no particular reason, partiularly since he had been very helpful. Though over all rooms are clean, they are old and dated. The carpets coud do with a good clean too as one in my room was filthy.

Unmotivated staff - especialy those at breakfast. I did not receive the rooms I requested when I made the booking. Very old decor. Expensive and poor poor quality food - I recommend eating out, especially for breakfast.

We stayed at the Montrose for one night as we were attending the Muse/Kasabian concert at Marlay Park. We booked last minute a few hours before arrival and the room cost just under Â£65, or 79 euros; you could have their Â£99 euro option which would of included breakfast. On arrival at Dublin airport we were suprised to find the hotel on the airbus' direct route and for 7 euros the bus/coach took us throuh Dublin centre and toward the university where the Montrose is located and dropped us off conveniently accross the road from it (you can get a return). As we were running late for the concert we were pleased to find we were checked in quickly and politely by the receptionist who also asked if we would like a dinner table; when we told her we were going to the concert, she offered to book a taxi for us which arrived within 5 mins, she rang our room to inform us and we rushed off. The room had a double/queen size? bed and also a single bed, it was large and well equipped with ironing board and tea/coffee facilities. I would say the bathroom was a bit dated, but again it was well stocked and I couldn't fault it. As we only stayed the night we can't comment on the food, or the surroundings etc, we found the staff to be more than helpful and If we were to go to Marlay for a concert again I would book this hotel. It is not in the centre of dublin but we had no problem with that and in the morning we just walked down the road toward the university and got on a bus (most go to city centre/o'connel street) and enjoyed the trip into town-about 15/20 mins. Please note for buses you need exact change-except air bus (get tickets off the man outside to the left of the airport exit). The buses are cheap and frequent, we never paid more than 1 euro 50 for single journey. We also got a bus to the airport from o'connel street, it does take 40 mins plus depending on traffic, we got the 16a but i think there were a few others and you can also get the air bus back again which is quicke

Food was not good - even in the adjacent Lonegans bar; too much of it was deep fried, and we mean very deep fried! There was also a limited range. However, we did not eat in the restaurant so cannot vouch for that.

We found the Hotel Montrose to be easy to get to, to be welcoming and very convenient for the purpose of our visit. We will definately stay in this hotel again.

Hotel was very clean, staff very friendly and helpful, hotel not situated in centre of dublin but only a short taxi ride away.The only let down was the rather old and decrepid fixings and fittings of the bathroom in particular..But on the whole a good hotel and would use again.

Room not as clean as I would expect: nothing personal, but I don't cars for spiders. After the first night, asked the housekeeper to clean extra, found another spider next day. Complained at reception and told I should contact the manager. Why couldn't reception take up the matter ????

nice location on outskirts of city. Bus transport to city centre very close to hotel. Most convenient to UCD

Room was clean & good but TV had few channels & couldnt be tuned. No help from staff with it. Tvs in bar couldn't do Teletex.Bar Lunch was great food & value. Evening meal in Resturant was too formal with several choices not available.Staff very friendly & helpful. Good parking.. I would stay there again without hesitation but would eat \"out\" in the evening.

The hotels only about 10 mins from the centre of Dublin by bus and buses are regular. It sounds much closer in the information than it is though - I wouldn't want to try to walk it late at night.The hotel was basic and the staff were not all that interested in being helpful. It's very dates as places go, but also cheap.
