Monton House HotelAlthough the room was good for the price of £25 per night, I would not have been happy to stay there for anything more. It looked nothing like the misleading pictures on the website. The room was pretty cramped and the main light did not work, so we had to rely on bedside lamps and the tv remote was held together with selotape. The decor was very very dated, but the main issue was the dirty shower which had mould growing on it. It was amusing that the room had a trouser press but not a working main light. We found a comment card in the room where previous visitors had left exactly the same comments back in april, but it was clear that nothing had been followed up.Myself and my boyfriend put up with all this because we were down in manchester house hunting for an indefinite period of time and didn't want to waste money paying £80 to £100 pounds a night. The original price of room before the 'price cut' offer was £100 plus according to the website which I cannot believe.In short, the room was fine if you just needed a cheap bed for the night and could put up with lack of space and a dirty bathroom, but I would not recommend it if you wanted a relaxing weekend away etc.

While some of the furnishings are a bit tired, the sheets and towels were good and the bed firm but comfortable. Although room on road side, no obvious noise. Good breakfast with helpful staff, Excellent value for an overnight stop

the hotel is very drab and badly needs a refurbish,the only redeeming feature was the power shower,the rooms are disgusting and the dining area would destroy your appetite.

Fantastic Hotel Near the City CentreThis hotel was great value for money and near the City Centre and Men Arena.Rooms exellant breakfast, nice friendly staff, near all transport linksOnly stayed 1 night very impressed with accommodation for the price convenient for Manchester City Centre.

Monton House HotelThe hotel is a little tired and could really do with decorating. The room was small but value for money. It was clean but like the rest of the hotel in much need of decoration. My stay at Monton House Hotel, on the 26th June 2009, with my brotherThe hotel in general served its purpose, and was great value for money. A little out of the way from the city centre. The bedroom itself was clean; bathroom left a lot to be desired, needed redecorating and a good scrub, but had everything you needed. The staff where friendly and welcoming, and expressed a genuine interest in the reason for our stay (Take That concert) however, we did have to have a little moan. On booking here with late rooms, I selected the checking in time of 13.00, allowing time to arrive without leaving at 5am from Brighton and still be early enough to get to the concert and start to queue in plenty of time. However, when we arrived we were informed that the earliest checking in time was 14.00 and that we were quoted wrong on late rooms. We waited patiently in the bar until nearly 15.00, still being told that our room was not ready, after a few polite moans from me. My brother and I began to feel awkward as a funeral party had started to arrive also, the concert was due to start at 16.00 (not including queues) and we still had not changed/washed etc. Gone 15.00, eventually, we were told that our room was ready, only to find when we got up to the room that our beds were still being dressed and the bathroom still hadn't been cleaned. Feeling very awkward we asked the member of staff to leave us for a few minutes to change. The member of staff was very polite and apologetic to us, and I could tell they were slightly embarrassed that we had been kept waiting so long. The staff clearly tried their best, and were very polite and friendly the entire stay, but a simple, small, email warning us of the real estimated checking in time before booking train tickets and arriving would of been nice. In general a pleasant stay.

Checked in at 1400.Check in is from 1300.room not ready due to two cleaners not turning up for work.Four couples waiting for rooms to be prepared.finally got in room 1500 and ahd to rush round as we were going to Take That concert at Old Trafford.not happy about having to wait....!!!!

I booked a twin room for me and my friend as we were going to a concert nearby. The beds were twin beds pushed together and made up as one bed - not what I booked. The room smelt very strongly of cannabis and even leaving open the windows couldn't get rid of the smell. There wasn't enough milk for coffee/tea which meant we couldn't have a drink when we got up in the morning. The smoke alarms went off at 7 am twice and when we asked at reception we were told by the receptionist that the chef had set it off cooking bacon! She was laughing when she said it but we didn't really see the funny side. I know this room was very cheap but we had headache when we left from the smell and being woken up so early before our drive back to Sheffield.

was only staying for one night, but did not have an enjoyable experience. When we booked online, we did so because it told us the check in time was 1pm and this suited our plans. However, on arriving at the holtel at 2pm, we were told our room was not ready yet. The receptionist informed us that the check in time was actually 2pm and the internet was wrong. we were told it would be half an hour until our room was ready, however, it was over an hour later that we finally got in our room. At which point we had to literally throw our bags down and run out as otherwise we would be late for our concert. As if that was not bad enough, the following morning, we were woken at half 7 by the f\fire alarm going off twice. There was no fire as far as we were aware. There was no explanation or apology given for the event. The hotel itself is good value for money but the experience i had has put me off going back.

Not quite as bad as I`d feared !Friendly staff....but very very very basic rooms....wouldn`t have been happy if I`d paid full price but bearable for an evening.

Value for Money Budget Hotelgood value for moneyIt was a good standard/clean and friendly hotel in a busy city - good quality and very freindly staff.Easy to find. Good secure parking close to both the Old Trafford and the City centre.

Fantastic Hotel The whole experience at this hotel was fantastic, excellent check in beautiful rooms and really helpful and friendly staff breakfast was excellent, hotel is in a prime location only 10 minutes from Manchester City Centre bt Taxi also regular bus service run from outside the hotel Good value for money and an added bonus FREE PARKING

I am 100% sure that if I had taken the time to complain about the above - the hotel would have rectified the situation (where possible) and apologised.The number of negative points (esp. the last point) will put many people off staying there however, I've stayed in a lot, lot, lot worse hotels. I didn't want to pay c£65 for a few hours kip in a city centre hotel; to pay £32 instead was a worthwhile exercise. I would recommend the hotel to others with the same goal as me.

well below expectation for 31 poundssmelly room, radiator ( room heater) not wokrking (not that i wanted to heat my room in may but was looking to dry the washed socks for next day interview). wardrobe doors broken (actually missing). bathroom shower knob ?broken no red/blue indicator( no indication which way to turn it to make it warmer/cooler). bed not comfortable.free car parking is a good thing thoughi can say this is the worst hotel room experience i have ever had, in this country so far.

Dirty Monton House HotelThe room was dirty, dust on bed head, cupboard space and cabinets. Toilet broken and seat covered in urine, sink taps were faulty and gushed water all over. Shower was covered in slime and mould growth, Shower hose was faulty and leaked. If reported to health Authority it would be closed down immediately.
