greatest hotel ever! nice staff shopping was fun! clean! im going again in december!
Date of Stay:
July, 2009
it is centrally located in Tokyo with the subway around the corner, small grocery stores and cafes on the street and two blocks from major shopping streets in two directions

Superbly located, efficiently (if coolly) managed, this is a convenient, comfortable, economical option for foreigners spending a couple of days in Tokyo.

The hotel location is excellent for subway and only a few minutes walk from train station. Rooms were clean, staff were friendly and efficient.

I was not sure exactly to find in this hotel but was surprised how nice it was. The facility was very clean and the staff was extremely helpful and very polite. Any issues with trying to find local interest sites the staff was extremely helpful and they always had an English speaking person available to assist. This facility was centrally located to shopping, transportation hubs, and plenty of restaurants close by. The rooms were a l;ittle smaller than I am use to but they were very comfortable. I have included this facility on my regular stay list as I travel abroad a lot.

We found the location of the Hotel fantastic. Close to shopping but still very quiet. Just off Ginza and close to Ginza Itachome exit 11. The staff were very friendly. We have also stayed at the Monterey in Hanzomon. Also very good.

Very conveninence, and compact hotel. You can get anything you want in a walking distance.

The Hotel is situated three short blocks east of Ginza Street, a Rodeo Drive of Tokyo, and offers ample window shopping opportunities starting from Cartier, Tiffany, Mikimoto, to the latest fashion trends of the world (because face it, if you were the type of person who actually shops there, you wouldn't be looking at this website at all). Area is very safe and pleasant to be around. The service is very fast and friendly! Most of hotel's staff does possess sufficient level of English to give directions, call the taxi, explain the train schedule, and answer basic room service requests. The hotel offers a cheesy, but easy to read map of the area in English and Japanese. Though rather small, the rooms are very neat and impeccably clean (though be sure to specifically ask for non-smoking room, as it's not something that the check-in clerk asks you upon arrival). Modern decor and lighting makes the room very cozy and comfortable. All the bathroom accessories are provided with the exception of body lotion. The full-size bed has a rather firm, but very comfortable mattress. Ginza subway station is only about 5 minutes away by foot. Tokyo Fish Market is about a 15 minute walk (or a 5 minute cab ride), where you can find the freshest sushi in the world (highly recommend, if you're into sushi). From Narita, take the Limousine bus to one of the Ginza hotels or Narita Express to Tokyo Train Station, and from there it's a $10-15 cab ride! If you prefer the amenities of the hotel more than the experience of being in Tokyo, I recommend the Westin or the Crowne Plaza!

We stayed for a few days as first-timers to Tokyo. Found the location (right next to subway) excellent. Hotel is a bit of an anomaly in Ginza. Shops are at the more exclusive price end but the hotel is within reach of budgets of many middle class. It was also quiet, clean and no hassle.

This is another typical Japanese hotel that beats any hotels in US or Europe. Japanese quality of service is the best I have seen around the world.

Hotel Monterey is close to everything... Once you arrive at the Ginza Train Station, use exit c6, walk towards Printemps Dept Store, tun right and go straight for several blocks and you will see this hotel on your right. This hotel is close to the main Ginza Strip and lots of cool stores. If you get bored walking around the Ginza area, take a train to Asakusa (US$* min. ride) and enjoy a traditional Japanese community with a beautiful temple, tipical restaurants and souvenir stores... The summer was so hot that we sweat like a wild horse... It was awesome to go back to the Hotel, take a shower, a nap and go out at night for a wonderful meal. We will definitely choose online travel website to book our hotel again and when in Tokyo will stay at Hotel Monterey again!!! Japan has a rich and enjoyable culture that is worth being experienced!

great central location in ginza with easy access to multiple subway entrances/lines. rooms small but very clean, functional with stylish decor. hotel is quiet. staff very helpful and speak reasonable english. free internet access in main lobby. have stayed here twice because of its location at an affordable price. would do so again. highly recommend.

The hotel's exterior is nice... has a very small lobby, no swimming pool, doesn't really has a nice view & I have a small problem with the water heater. Sometimes it gets too hot & sometimes it gets cold. Just can't seem to get the right temperature. The staffs are quite friendly but some of them can barely speak English. But they were very helpful in providing maps & showing you directions. The room is small. Fit for 2. Any more than 2, you'll be cramped. There's no English channels on the TV! So I didn't watch anything during my stay there. Location wise, it is very near to Metro Station. So, quite accessible to go to certain places. And it is located at Ginza, where all the branded goods shops are located. If you're into shopping for average or cheaper stuffs, this is definitely not the place for you. Overall, I find that the price is not worth a stay there as no breakfast was included & all.

considering hotel prices in tokyo, I guess monterey ginza is a good deal not only for the price but also its location is perfect, close to everything, staff are really friendly and always ready to assist you, you check in and out in a timely manner, they are very well organized,4 blocks to kabukiza, a ittle bit farther to fish market, rooms are small , literally small considering standard size hotel room, but in tokyo it seems everything is compact, rooms are very clean and you have verything you need from toothpaste to hairbrush, I did a lot of searching before booking ginza and after i made my travel i realized it was a good decision stayed at ginza hotel, it is only 5 minutes from there to tokyo station by taxi,. In general it was a great expirience and I recommend this hotel to be considered for everybody who really wants to enjoy staying in Tokyo.

Good location. Several restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores nearby. Three subway stations within easy walking distance, one within fifty yards. .A free English language newspaper was outside your door every morning. BBC was the only English language TV station, but that was enough. Good breakfast buffet, though expensive. I ate at the coffee shop a half block away. Very quiet room.

"You get what you pay for. Ginza is one of the most desirable locations within Tokyo, so expect to pay top dollar to stay in a nice room. The rooms here are cramped and claustrophobic but clean. No one speaks English and the concierge was not very helpful when asking for dinner recommendations."

I would reccomend staying at the Montery Gnza to anyone travelling to Tokyo. The hotel is beautiful and quiet and exteremely comfortable. And the hotel breakfast can not be beat i'm still craving it! The only problem is that about 95% of the staff only speak Japanese which makes the stay a little diffcult at times. But it's hands down a great hotel in a great neighbourhood*check out the resturant next door it's amazing too!**
