Hotel was very clean with polite staff, and i would stay here again. We walked into the city which took 20 minutes and a taxi back cost 10 euro.

We recently stayed at the Montenotte Hotel from the 21-25th May 09 and were reasonably satisfied with the quality of our room. However, I really believe this is equivalent to a 3 Star Hotel, the 4th Star requires a lot more effort by this establishment. A constant unpleasant odour was present in the outside corridor. However, It was an incident which occurred on the morning of our checkout very nearly marred our overseas trip. On the night of the 24th, I specifically requested a wake up call for 5am of the morning of Monday 25th to allow us time to pack, drop off our rental car at the airport, check in and make our flight to London. We had a separate flight booked in Heathrow for travel back to the USA, which was non-transferrable. I returned to the service desk to settle the bill after 20 minutes and re-iterated my request for the 5am wake up call. The lady in question and her assistant confirmed that all was arranged. I awoke at 5.35am, with no wake up call having been provided and we were then forced to rush out of the Hotel to meet our flight schedule. Luckily we just made our flight. I sent an email last week suggesting in future that this service be improved or automated, or that radio alarm clocks at least be provided in all the rooms. I have yet to receive the courtesy of a simple reply, purely to indicate they had received my feedback. Disappointing customer service pretty much sums up my experience!

The hotel was fine, and I would stay there again - but I would choose not to eat there. The main course was overcooked, which was not too bad for the salmon, but the vegetables were rendered fairly tasteless.

Montenotte Hotel, Cork, IrelandHotel location was close to city center, staff was friendly and helpful, the food was awesome, and the view was overlooking the city.

Efficient, friendly staff. Room was large and spacious but being on the second floor only had a view of the flat roof below. Couldn't complain for the money though. Very relaxing bar with terrace overlooking part of Cork city. 15 minutes walk down a hill to McCurtin Street to town centre so not suited to elderly or infirm unless you take a taxi at £7 Euros. Overall, would certainly stay again.

Over rated?I was very disappointed with this hotel. My room was pretty dingy and dark, exaccerbated by the fact my view was of a brick wall 3 feet from the window (this wasn't just my room - but all roms on the ground floor with odd numbers). So much for the city views. The bed was so soft I think it may have actually been broken. The breakfast was also a let down, very limited buffet including very poor deep fried sausages. The bar was completely lacking in atmosphere as well - and the walk into Cork is further than they say, and the road is very steep. The pool was quite nice though. All in all, a let down. If don't mind being a little out of the city, try the Silver Springs, if you want to be more central the Maldron is good value (but car parking is very restricted).

Nice and comfy.Hotel is more suited for the mature visitor and elderly, however rooms are reasonably clean and very quiet.

Not Bad - Not GreatFor a 4 star it was lacking a bit. Rooms small. no power in the shower, no fridge. The hallways were very drab and shabby looking - mainly due to a truly awful carpet. On the plus side the setting is nice, the bar was friendly and relaxing, the restaurant looked nice (although we didn't eat there). The leisure centre was excellent, good size pool along with sauna, steamroom, jacuzzi etc.Price was good but overall it wass comfortable but nothing special.

Very convenient place to stay. Facilities are good, service friendly and food is good, although the restaurant is closed Monday to Friday so, the menu is restricted!

An Irish GemRedeveloped long standing hotel situated 1 mile up the hill overlooking Cork. Hotel was 4 star standard, reception staff helpful for tourists and couldnt do enough to help. Even when water authority turned off water they doorknocked guests personally and offered assistance.

well run comfortable hotel with senior management taking a personal interest in guest's welfareFor the elderly just too long a walk to consider dining in the town centre although food in the hotel good quality with fast service. Views from the dining room make up gor staying in the hotel.

Unfortunately we picked the wrong night to stay at this hotel as there was a very noisy function on and very noisy guests staying at the hotel. Staff were very good in trying to get noise down and we were given a full refund.

God HotelStayed for 2 nights whilst working in Cork, the room was good. I paid around £50 to £60 per night via laterooms, excellent value. All the Staff I met were very good and helpfull even at 7am in the morning for breakfast. The Bar and bar food was again very good. I stay in a lot of Hotels for my work and I would say that if you need somewhere to stay in Cork you cant go wrong with this Hotel.
