My wife and I stayed here two nights in January after staying two nights in another hotel (prearranged through an agency). We liked this hotel much better. There was a jacuzzi shower, which my wife absolutely loved. The bathroom was well-appointed and roomy. Everything was very clean, nicely decorated, with quality linens and furnishings. You could hear people in other rooms from time to time, but it wasn't too bothersome. Breakfast wasn't as nice as we found at other hotels in Italy; especially the coffee was from a machine and not at all satisfying. For good espresso, there are some bars about two blocks away to the west that are cheaper and better quality than in the hotel lobby. The bed was a bit stiff, but this was true throughout our stay in Italy, so it could be the style. The hotel is a bit further away from the major sights, but it's near the main train/subway station and a secondary subway station as well. The area is very secure, being near embassies and up-scale offices. Overall, it is a nice place and an excellent deal for the price.

Had a great stay, 10 mins walk to either of two nearby tube stations. Friendly staff on reception. Would definitely stay there again.

Fair hotel for tourists. Breakfast very unpleasant due to bad attitude of staff member managing breakfast. Heating in our room did not work for first two nights. Internet facility did not work. Location of hotel overstated on website.

we had 16 people staying at the hotel and we couldnt have asked for a better place for the price. The staff especially Franco the night front desk clerk was the best!! The breakfast was ok with cereal and pastries the rooms was more than we expected, We reserved the superior rooms and most of them came with tubs. They even made reservations for us to take tours right from the hotel. We stayed there before we went on a cruise and they made all the transportation reservations to and from the airport and to the ship and back. We all agree that we would definetly stay there again.

We stayed in Rome for 4 nights and found the monte carlo just as described in website. Excellent location, very easy to get around Rome on foot (without the need even for a metro!)Staff friendly, breakfast the same as all over Italy. Room clean and welcoming. We were simply looking for somewhere close to tourist areas (colisseum, pantheon etc etc), and somewhere to put our heads down at the end of the long day of touring. This is exactly what we got at the monte carlo. Funnily enough the it was the bar that actually swung it for us in the end, which we never actually used!!

My husband and I were on our first trip to Rome, and had a fantastic stay at the Monte Carlo. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Nice, clean rooms (though not particularly big). Very helpful staff. The hotel fully lived up to our expectations. But use the bus going back and forth to the tourist attractions! It took us a little to find out that instead of walking to the Termini or to the nearest metro station from the hotel, it is much easier taking a bus nearby. And by the way - the breakfast is an excellent Italian one, and there is plenty of it (in contrary to what some of the reviews said)

Definatley worth staying at! The hotel is beautiful inside. We loved the elevator. The location isn't walking distance to the main tourist sites, but is walking distance to the subway and train station which was more worth it to us. Breakfast was great and the reception desk was helpful.

My husband and I traveled in the middle of October 2005 to this hotel. Nice hotel, small rooms, but they are all smallish in Rome. Location is closer to the train station, we felt safe no issues. The hotel offers parking in a private garage nearby, however we arrived on a Sunday when EVERYTHING is closed - we drove around trying to find public parking and ended up parking at the train station - which is where most guide books tell you not to park. The car was fine but it can be a little dicey seeing many homeless people camping out in the parking lot. The front desk recommends people to restaurants that are CLEARLY tourist traps even though they insist they go there themselves. Do a little research if you want an authentic place. The breakfast every morning was great with plenty of seating. Bathrooms are tiny with a shower stall. We would stay here again for price and location.

The breakfast was pathetic. The hotel was a lot farther than 300m from the train station. It is a 20 minute walk having to drag luggage up and down curbs. It was a safe neighborhood.

I thought this hotel was fairly good value for money and enjoyed my stay. It is reasonably conveniently located relative to Rome Termini. Our double room was spacious for the price. We enjoyed the large mural on the wall (not shown in photos). The staff were quite ok, though not outstanding. My wife had a cold shower and the shower tended to wet the bathroom floor quite a bit. Breakfast was just satisfactory. Allround, nothing outstanding, but not bad either and pretty reasonable value.

Almost everything was as described on the website. Staff at reception is friendly and well organized. Only thing to criticize is the breakfast and the staff there (very unfriendly). Hotel located about one kilometer away from Termini not 300 meters.
