The Monarch Hotel & Conference Center is an independently locally owned and operated full service hotel with 20,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, restaurant and lounge. In 1985 the Monarch opened its doors. With the mission statement "to provide the hospitality that brings the guest back", the Monarch has played host to the same groups many times over the years.In 2004/05, the Monarch underwent a $4 million exterior/interior public area renovation. The new look is fresh and inviting. In 2008, all rooms renovated with Serta pillowtop beds, 32 inches HDTV, easy chair, Refrigerators, granite counter tops and more.

The hotel was very clean and the hotel staff was very friendly. The went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We enjoyed our short stay very much.

Check-in was efficient and painless. The newly remodeled rooms had very comfortable new beds. Room was nicely appointed and very clean. Sam's Lounge had great food with a neighborhoodfeeling. With all the remodeling it would have been nice if they would have added a fitness center. Great location with access to a variety of shopping. In the near future with MAX access to PDX and downtown Portland will certainly make this hotel desireable to business and pleasure travelers without the congestion and hassle of the downtown area.

Front desk staff on check in was good. I asked for a third floor room and was down for a first floor room upon arrival, wound up on the second floor. My wife and I were out of the room from 5 a.m. until 11:50, then at 12:30 were just about to leave when housekeeping arrived to clean the room. We asked them to wait about three minutes. We came back at 9 p.m. and the room had not been cleaned. The bathroom is outdated. Looks like they had a mold problem at one time. The tub was old with green stains in the drain. No plug to take a relaxing bath. The flooring is very old and looks like it has yellow stains on it. The corners ion the bathroom floor were dirty. The room was noisy (you could hear people walking in the room above---why I asked for a third floor room in the first place---housekeeping started vacuuming the hall outside the room shortly after 8 a.m and it was very noisy. There was a table in the room with two chairs, but there was no way two people could have sat at the table the way it was politioned. The bed was nice. Ligting was poor in the room (in addition one buld was burned out in one of the lamps). When I checked out I told the desk clerk about the room not being cleaned and his response was, "Not sure what to say about that." The other desk clerk said he would check in to it, but I don't know what that means. There are other hotels in the area that I would stay in next time.

It was clean in the lobby and in the room. The closet was too small to put the suitcase in. This is a great place to stay. I would recommend it as a great place to stay.

Good location to Portland area. Clean room & kid friendly. Did have refrigerator but did not have microwave in room. Clean, good service, room service food ok but not the greatest.

Restaurant good - nice breakfast. 1st room was freshly painted, smelled horrible. Unfriendly staff. Construction noise. Paint smell throughout property. Horrible.

The hotel was centrally located and near the shopping mall. After we had checked in to our room, we advised the front desk staff that the hot water tap was continually dripping and that we would like to be moved to a room with a fridge. No one followed up on our request and the tap situation was not dealt with. The room we stayed in was moderate, at best.

I like that this hotel had a free continental breakfast, which the fancier hotels did not have. My partner complained about the lack of an elevator at this 2-story hotel. Overall, the hotel was quite nice. The room was fairly spacious and the beds were adequately comfortable. The room was pleasantly decorated and relatively quiet. The woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful. There was a long truck hogging a bunch of the closest parking spaces, but there were plenty of other spaces.

The hotel has a wonderful courtyard that is great to relax in. A solid, dependable choice. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times, and have never been disappointed. It is right across the street from the Clackamas Town Center Mall.

It was close to where I needed to be. The bed was not very comfortable. Everything was as to be expected. Not much choice for channels on the TV and the comforter on the bed kept sliding off during the night. Nice sized room with fridge and desk.

The rooms were spacious. No free newspaper and not enough movie channels. Were able to brew coffee in the morning. Location was good for us. Plenty of parking. Staff was friendly.

Hotel was clean. Room service available is a plus. Comfortable bed and pillows. Furniture small and old. TV not easily viewed from bed or chair. Room was clean and hotel is conveniently located. Staff friendly. First impression of the room was not good. Furniture is old and small, uncomfortable. TV at bed level could not be seen at all from the table/chair set in the corner of the room nor easily viewed from bed as it was too low. Though the bed was comfortable.

Location, clean, very nice. Would like to have fridge and microwave in room. We enjoyed the stay. The kids were disappointed the pool was closed; however, I was glad it was closed. It would be nice if a fridge & microwave were included in the rooms - make feeding a family a little easier and less expensive.

Location was good and the room was basic but clean The restaurant was a good restaurant but several other options very close by For a no frills hotel. It was good. Everything I expected from the description. Close to freeway and shopping centers.
