I was in Salt Lake for a meeting and what better after a day of travel and meetings than a lovely glass of Sangria in the lobby when you arrive.

The only thing I liked about this hotel is that I got to check out and leave! Unpleasant experience from the valet parking to checkout. We were put on floor 7 which was for travelers with pets which I am allergic to. Room was very small with only a drain in the floor for a shower. Asked to be moved to another room with tub and room had dog dishes and bedding still on the floor!

I've stayed here before and loved it, thought I would pay extra this time for a suite. Found it to be very disapointing and not worth it. The young man at the front desk was a snob too. The ONLY option for parking is to valet at $15 a day.

A small to medium-sized upscale hotel that would fit well in uptown Manhattan or Michigan Ave. in Chicago. There is an understated elegance in the lobby and rooms, with a friendly and helpful staff. The only bad mark I give the property is the on-site restaurant. The dinner menu is too pretentious for the area. I had to wait for breakfast because of insufficient staff - despite the fact that there were a dozen or more tables empty. Other great restaurants within a block or two - try those.

Service was great, hotel did require valet parking which was an unexpected expense, but the service was great. The first day there our A/C wasn't cooling, but they quickly fixed it. Had to pay for internet access.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Monico and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Salt Lake City. The staff was wonderful from the moment I walked in the door and eager to help anyway possible. Not only did they speak each time I was coming in or out of the hotel, but they called me by name. Very impressive! I would not only stay at this hotel again, but will look for Kimpton hotels everywhere I travel. Do yourself a favor - stay with them!

The Hotel Monaco in Salt Lake City provides a very unique experience, from its location to its decor. I have stayed at this hotel several times before and have greatly enjoyed it every time. On this visit, I was there with my three grandchildren for a weekend of zoo lights, looking at the downtown lights and the main reason for the trip, The Nutcracker. The room was spacious enough to accomodate three children and all of their paraphenalia. The hotel staff was very helpful on ideas for the kids and with a list of things that would entertain all of us for the weekend. The hotel is located conveniently across from the Capitol Theater. With a short one-half block walk, you can board Trax for a free ride to the Gateway Mall, the Energy Solutions Center (Jazz games), and Temple Square. While we are not LDS, we did enjoy all of the thousands of lights on the square and all of the festive lights around the downtown area. There is a great restaurant inside of the hotel. There is also an Olive Garden, and three other restaurants within a three block radius.

The hotel is very impressive. The elevator is negative. We got stuck in there more than 20 minutes. It is a nice hotel so far.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Monaco for a night for my birthday and the room we were put it was really small, which I beleive was a suite, but could be wrong. It had a queen sized bed which filled nearly the entire room and the bathroom was litterally a foot and a half away from my side of the bed, making the toilet about 3 feet away. It just felt awkward. The room decor was eccentric but worn out and seemed like it had been overly used and not touched up for years. The bathrooms in the lobby were messy and out of toilet paper, which was promptly cleaned after I informed them about it. When we went to the bar they seemed very understaffed and while eating the appetizers and a few drinks it litterally took us 20 minutes to get someone to give us the bill so we could dine in the restraunt. The food was exceptional and the drinks were very good. This was probably the only good thing about it. It was a let down becasue we had always wanted to check out the hotel becasue of its reputation. I probably wouldn't stay here again unless it was a business function, but definately wouldn't on leisure or a romantic getaway.

I didn't expect much traveling to Salt Lake City. But this was the nice, comfortable, courteous surprise that made my stay so enjoyable. The staff was always professional, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Service was impeccable. Restaurant was convenient and the food was very good, if not pricey. I would definitely stay here again next time I return to SLC.

Beds were very comfortable. Noisy rooms, you could hear everything in the halls. It was an OK hotel. I do not think it warranted a 4 staror the price they ask for a stay. The bed was comfortable, but the room was very noisy. You could hear people in the next room as well as people in the hallway.

My three night stay at the Hotel Monaco in the heart of SLC was a very good one. My sister and I were in town for a wedding; the location was perfect - convenient to everything. The hotel is big on customer service. Check-in staff, the concierge, room service, and valet parking (more on that later) were solicitous and helpful. The room was tastefully and very comfortably furnished and decorated. The beds were divine - slept soundly each night. Leopard print bathrobes are a fun detail, and the turn-down service was a nice touch. We hosted a rehearsal dinner for 16 one night, and the restaurant at the hotel, Bambara, was exceptional. Our guests ordered a gamut of appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts, and everyone raved about each course. The wait staff was right on point: knowledgeable and helpful, yet not cloying. It was a delightful evening. There is also the "Club Bambara" where you can get a cocktail - a good (and again, convenient) place to unwind. The only downside of the experience was the parking. Since the hotel's parking lot was eliminated due to a new 26 story building going up immediately next door (construction hadn't started yet when we were there), there is ONLY valet parking available (overnight parking is */night). Cars are parked about 4 blocks away. The upshot of that is that you must call down approximately 30 minutes before you need your car. Sometimes that worked, and sometimes it didn't - so beware. Not sure about the effect of the construction noise, etc., for future stays, but I hope the hotel does well. All in all, it was a wonderful, memorable experience.

The Hotel Monaco was very attentive to all of my needs and requests. The room was extremely comfortable and one of the quietest that I have ever stayed in. A great value.

We made the trip to visit family and booked this hotel, sight unseen, at the same time we booked our air tickets. From the minute we checked in, it felt like we were right at home. In the lobby is a cozy sitting area complete with a fireplace. The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean. Each and every employee went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The restaurant, Bambara, was excellent! The hotel is located right in the center of downtown. We were directed to various sights as well as the local mall. We were even given coupons to the local ski shop where we rented our gear for a one-day ski trip to a local resort. The view of New Year's fireworks was spectacular. We're planning to stay there again this year.

Upon arrival the staff was just terrific; very cordial and warm and totally professional. The Hotel is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The wine reception in the salon was really a nice touch. The location is really wonderful as it is a short walk to Temple Square and immediately adjacent to the local light-rail system. The Restaurant Bambara located on the first floor of the hotel.....let's just say awesome. Some of the best food I have every tasted.... and I have traveled extensively; we had the most awesome server. The last evening at the hotel was made very memorable by Restaurant Bambara and the staff. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else while in Salt Lake. Do yourself a favor...STAY HERE!

The front desk was very friendly and helpful ~ for that matter, even the valet was accomodating and nice! The beds are fastidiously clean and comfortable. The standard room is smallish but beautifully and stylishly decorated, almost whimsical. I love staying there ~ the location is convenient to everything in Salt Lake City. I have stayed there three times and won't stay anywhere else whenever I am in town. The food in the beautiful restaurant was inedible the first time I went, but wonderful the second time and I concluded that they must have gotten a new chef. I was glad I gave them another chance. I actually look forward to staying there and think of the Monaco as "my hotel."
