Location, location, location. Very nicely decorated. Spotless and met our needs. We had a horrible view of the parking lot next door and the pillows were about the worst I've seen at any hotel. However, the room was nicely decorated and the location doesn't get any better. If you want a room for a comfortable sleep, this hotel works great. Just bring your own pillow.

The happy hour and the goldfish. Bathroom space to small and they put us in a room overlooking the ventilation shaft.

The location of this hotel is perfect, right along the river but tucked into a quieter corner. The staff was incredibly friendly and hospitable. The free wine hour was a major bonus! Guests are able to check their luggage with front door staff and the doorman repeatedly offered to coordinate transportation for me. A great, comfortable room with all the amenities one would need for a brief stay and friendly staff means I would stay again and again!

In the past this hotel was top notch. I thought the king room we were to get was to be 330 sq ft. This one sure seemed smaller. First night we had a noisy motor in our mini bar...told management...not sure if someone did anything..kept us up...next day we switched to the room next door. Would have liked an upgrade due to the inconvience. Also the drapes showed some wear. Hotel needs to be checked closely for signs of "aging"

Beautiful room, great location and friendly staff. Had to pay for parking and could not accommodate my request for two beds. Excellent hotel with gracious staff and beautiful room. Location was great.

The Hotel Monaco is perfectly situated being close to Michigan Avenue and the river. The entire staff was exceptional in their friendliness and willingness to make the stay perfect. The room was great and comfortable. I visit Chicago often and this will be where I stay!

The Hotel Monaco provided excellent service and didn't leave anything out. They were always welcoming and eager to assist you. It was truly enjoyable to hear a pleasant voice when I called the front desk; especially when they addressed me by my name. It felt as though they were "watching out for me". I never encountered a negative employee and everyone truly appeared to enjoy their work and their guests.

I highly recommend the Hotel Monoco for its location, comfort and window seats! My teenager and I could walk to countless tourist sites from the hotel. Additionally, I retire early so appreciated that my nightowl son could surf the internet from the curtain enclosed window seat alcove, while still allowing the room to be dark. The hotel staff was fabulous with restaurant and shopping recommendations. Finally, when my son slept-in, I enjoyed the complementary coffee, in-hotel restaurant and fitness room. I'll be back!!

My wife and I went to Chicago for the first time together for a romantic city summer getaway. We had a phenominal time especially since we love travel destinations with plenty to do. We were so impressed with the conceriege at Hotel Monaco. He was very poiite, patient, thorough and pleasant to work with. We had many questions and received explanations that made our tour of Chicago comfortable and enjoyable. This hotel is an ideal location to just about every must-see tourist attraction as well as the city transit systems. I was so impressed with the location, interior ambiance and decor, modest size building with large spacious and quaint rooms containing all the necessary immenities, complimentary coffee and wine party, friendly and cheerful staff, immaculate cleanliness, excellent room service, etc. I truly cannot say enough good about this hotel. My wife and I have stayed in many nice hotels all over the world and this hotel is absolutely top notch. My biggest recommendation when choosing this particular hotel is to reserve a river view room. You will be happy you did so. It is gorgeous. You'll have a large window seat to sit in and stare out into the Chicago river surrounded by the remarkable buildings. We plan on staying at many more Kimpton Hotels after our experience at Hotel Monaco Chicago.

We stayed in the Mediterranean suite. What a great room. The colors were lively but not overwhelming and the furniture was appropriate to the feel and size of the room. Our room had a river view and was on the 4th floor. The location came with a fair amount of street noise but, for the most part, it was not disruptive. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and courteous. There is one restaurant on site but many within a short walk. It was also a very short walk to Michigan Ave. I would highly recommend this hotel.

After driving 16 hours from Dallas, we arrived at the hotel at 12:30am to be told our room was not available! There had been bad weather in the Chicago area which kept travelers from leaving. Our pre-paid room had been sold. I was very upset, however the staff was very helpful and found us a room at a sister hotel two blocks away that would also take our dog. We stayed there overnight and by 10:30 the next morning our room at the Hotel Monaco was ready. Once we arrived we were very pleased by the room itself (beautiful), the staff (professional , very helpful and friendly), the location (one block from the river and close to the El, parks, and Michigan Ave), and the gift bag for our Westie, Maggie. Our stay was perfect and I would most definitely stay here again.

We were very pleased with the Hotel Monaco in Chicago. Our room was very nice, the bed was comfortable, and the other furnishings were lovely. The location of the hotel was just right, walking distance to Navy Pier and to the museums. We were especially happy that we could get into our room early, we had an early flight into Chicago and expected the staff to hold our luggage for us until the 3:00 check in. Since our room was ready, we were given a key and had the use of the room for the day :) The hotel restaurant is very good.

Hotel Monaco was absolutely PERFECT! From check-in to check-out the experience was wonderful. Service was beyond what I could have ever expected. The doorman, was by far the best I have ever had in all my travels. He went out of his way to make sure that we were well taken care of. Traveling for the first time with my goddaughters, ages 8 & 10, I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The location was ideal. The meditation stations & goldfish were definitely the highlights of our stay. Not only did the manager give my girls a goodie backpack upon check-in but there were small child-size leopard bathrobes waiting for them when we got back to the hotel after a spin around the city.To top it off - my goddaughter's retainer BROKE after only being in the city for 2 hours ... and being after hours I was sure our trip would be ruined. But after a few calls to the concierge, he helped us find a dentist who was willing to see us. I cannot say enough about the kindness & attention that everyone at this hotel showed us. It was somewhat unbelievable - but very appreciated & welcome. We are already planning our next visit to Chicago - & I don't think I can stay anywhere else but Hotel Monaco!!!

The staff was really friendly. Also, the hotel was very conveniently located. You could walk to everything downtown and there were 2 above ground stations within a block if you wanted to catch public transit. I think it was a little pricey for the actual accomodation, but the location was great.
