This is a fabulous hotel with a central location in the heart of waikiki. The hotel has a classic section and newer style rooms in the towers. Try for an upgrade to the ocean front tower if your Starwood Platinum.

The lobby was beautiful. Rooms have roaches. It was made quite apparent that our level of room was the less desirable locations. Our 1st room was very small and had a view of a wall and was so close to the elevator we hear the bell all night long. Because we had a Starwood Preferred guest card we were upgraded to a higher room with a street view. But it was infested with roaches. Our third room was much nicer with a ocean view but still had roaches.

An excellent hotel with private beach and fabulous location.

Paid for oceanfront room on Diamond Head side of hotel w/two beds, they said they had none when we checked in (these had balconys) except for a handcapped equipped room, so I took it. Ended up having no balcony, but the room was way bigger than the ones with balconies because it had to have room for a wheelchair. Plus it was a corner unit, oceanfront, with nice big windows. Parking was $25/day for valet, so we only rented the car 4 days out of 8. Much cheaper to rent car from airport and go on your own than take "tours". Everything was almost perfect until the last 2 days when a very loud guest checked in next door and got up at 5am each morning and talked very loud on his cellphone for 2-3 hours before leaving for breakfast. I complained loudly in our room the one morning and he shut up, but it didn't work the second day, he had a companion at that point who was as loud as him. There were a bunch of weddings, but they didn't really keep us from doing what we wanted. The rocking chairs on the porch were great to sit on and watch the crowds of people when we were too tired to go anymore. Didn't eat at the hotel, bought muffins for breakfast at the ABC store across the street and a bunch of drinks for the fridge, then would eat a late lunch/early dinner. Cheesecake Factory is down the street but go early, the wait at dinner was over an hour. We had no trouble getting in for lunch. Taxi from airport to hotel was $38 for a 7 mile drive. Bus cost $9 per person but we had to wait so they cut it to $7.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful; the lobby, the courtyard, the front porch, all amazing. However, the room was very disappointing. It was not at all what we were expecting, and did not live up to its description. While the bed was comfortable, and the room had an amazing view, overall the room could have been cleaner, and the carpet needed to be either cleaned or replaced. The staff was wonderful, very friendly. Absolute paradise, until it was time for bed. :(

This was a first time trip to Oahu. The scenery along the 2 mile stretch of Waikiki beach was gorgeous! The day was rather warm/hot, but the evenings on the beach was so comfortable while listening to luau music and Hawaiian dancers added an additional lovely Hawaii tradition. The Moana Surfrider is a beautiful hotel that was always clean, well-kept, friendly staff, delicious food and was at the center location of all the various activities that a person would like to do. We had easy access to tour shuttles, shopping centers/stores, international market and restaurants. We took the 120 Oahu Circle tour, visited the Sea Life Center and attended a luau.

This hotel was beautiful, inviting, airy and offers a rich experience. I absolutely loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again. The location was great, the decor and amenities were excellent and the staff was friendly and responsive. I highly recommend this hotel.

Stunning hotel in a prime spot in Waikiki. I definately felt like we chose the best hotel to stay in. The architecture, interior & ambience made our stay a great experience. Thank You!!!

The hotel was beautiful. Our room and bathroom were clean and kept up nicely when we returned back to it in the afternoon. The waiters/waitresses were very pleasant there. My only complaint would be that there were far too many weddings going on each day that it made the lobby at times crowded.

The first room we were given was not acceptable, too small, dark and did not even have a chest of drawers. We upgraded at additional cost and this room was very pleasant. The only feature that was inconvenient feature was the closet was in the bathroom. Several small services that I would expected had to be asked for, but the staff was friendly and thereafter the services were done. We did not eat at the hotel for the cost of food much higher than at other restaurants even those with simular views and excellent food. The location was good for the activities we wanted to do and the atmosphere of the hotel was very pleasant. My only negative comment is that the room of the quality we were booked into for a nine day stay happened at a hotel with this rating and cost.

I've been to Hawaii 4 times and this, by far, was the best visit ever. The hotel was superb. The only complaint I can think of is our first room was overlooking the street and the street performers were very loud in the evening. The staff was very accomodating in upgrading our room to one overlooking Waikiki and Diamond Head. It doesn't get much better than that.

Historical and romantic. Located on a congested and small beach. Hotel was clean and conviently located.

This is a very beautiful hotel in the heart of Waikiki adjacent to Kuhio Beach Park. The room we stayed in (City View) was nice and afforded a nice view of the surfing break at Canoe's. Outrigger rides and surfboard rental are close by. Be sure to stay on the Diamond Head side of the hotel as the music from Duke's restaurant and bar in the Outrigger Hotel next door goes on until the wee hours every night. The pool is quite small but nice nevertheless. The again, if you vacation in Waikiki to spend time in the pool...you should instead discover the beauty of the Pacific ocean. All said, the banyan tree and courtyard are great accents to the wonderful beach and views at the Westin Outrigger. We would definitely stay at the Westin again as it is just a nice, relaxing, comfortable place to be in Waikiki. Be sure to arrange for your rental car through the hotel activities desk and you will save 40-50%. Dove Bars at poolside are expensive as are drinks and food in general at the Westin. Booking through Travelocity will not get you Westin points.

I will choose another ""cheaper"" hotel next time. Expensiev is not usually the best. The room is so small and the couple live next to us they fight every night. Therefore, I can't sleep well during the night. But I like the location of this hotel and also it's right near to the beach. (But the Waikiki Beach is belong to the public..everyone can enjoy the beach even though you don't live in this hotel) I think I will live in a cheaper hotel next time.

The only thing that we were dissapointed with was the quality of the food. For the high prices in most restaurants, we expected better quality and season. Otherwise, overall this was a gret trip!

The hotel lobby area and view to the water was awesome, staff was very friendly. The basic room we got was very small. Annoyed the picturesque views thru the hotel out to the crashing waves of Waikiki beach. The hotel is located right in the middle of the action for plenty to walk and do or relax on the beach or in the evenings in the pool area. very friendly helpful staff.

This is probably the best hotel in Waikiki. Very sophisticated and very clean. If you're looking to stay in the middle of everything in Waikiki, this is the hotel for you. You will be welcomed with a drink and Lei upon checking-in. Their room service though is very expensive, for a simple continental breakfast, you're looking at spending $$ per person. This hotel has a great beach bar where we had drinks every night. Their bartender are the best people I've ever met. The service at the beach/patio for food, is probably my only complaint. Their servers are very slow. If you could just do the bar, do it and it will save you a lot of time. I'm glad this hotel is now a Westin, the heavenly bed is well worth the stay. We stayed here before when it was still Sheraton, the renovation they did made the hotel a lot cleaner. Stay here if you can afford it.

We stayed four nights and did not want to leave. A great deal for a family of five, the in-room dinning was great. Enough to please our kids (ages seven, six and two). Literally on the beach, all we did was go down to the lobby and walked fifty feet and hit the beach. I've been to Waikiki a couple of times before but this trip was the most memorable. The hotel staff was just great! Very friendly, accomodating and professional. Beats ALL of the hotels I've stayed at in the past. Located in the middle of everything, easy access to dinning places, bars, aquarium and zoo.Definitely recommended!

We loved it. It is the oldest hotel on wakiki beach. great location and the entertainment under the banyon tree was wonderful and relaxing.

It has a lot of period details, the location is great. We were in the old wing and it is old! We had two twin beds in the old wing. Believe me; it felt every minute of its age. The view is great, the public spaces are lovely and it is Hawaii so really how much does a great room matter? If you are trying to save a little on a room, Waikiki is the place to cut back. Save your $$$ for the other islands. From what we could tell all the rooms in Waikiki were about the same. Good value.
